I'm not a fan of the ST reboot, being old skool and all, but I really like this k/s vid. The conceit of using the mind meld to open the door to TOS k/s footage works really well, as does having it break through at analogous moments in the reboot footage after the meld is finished. Initially it felt to me like young Kirk was getting little insights into the future as after effects of the meld, and then later that transfers from him to the audience. For me it was a fresh remixing of k/s, with some impactful scene matching, and it made me dislike the reboot just that little bit less! :)

Stark and Loki meeting for the first time in canon.

This was REALLY well done! I absolutely love the part after "now I think I see the light" where Kirk so clearly GETS AOS Spock now, and Spock just...is out of his depth. The whole thing is great with the timing and the clips. Awesome XD

this blew me away. you are fantastic. thanks for making it. I could dance, with this rush of adrenaline and endorphines. Actually, I think I will go do some exercise while watching it again, once I finished this comment - I need to work out more, and my heartbeat is already elevated. This is fantastic.

Rewatching, I think my favorite moment is the jump at 2:27. It reads like a leap of faith, because Kirk has Issues and a shaky past and wounds, but he is still brave as fuck and just risks it. Don't remember if that jump had anything to do with Spock in the movie itself, but here it reads as a powerful image of what's going on with the two of them.

I'm so glad I found your AO3 account, because I've been watching this vid over and over and over since I first stumbled across it. I love everything about it: the mix of old and new, the way you used the "light" concept, the excellent melding of music and images, and the selection of clips. (I didn't realize till I saw your vid how many times Kirk and Spock got into each other's space.) The final part of the vid is simply awesome editing.
