They Say I’m Cursed, But You’re My Blessing

Chapter Text

Jungkook was running for his life. He knew he was being stupid. Anyone with two sets of brain cells could tell you that.

That didn’t matter though. Not anymore. Not now that Jungkook has finally presented.

As an omega.

This was never supposed to happen, Jungkook knew that, everyone knew that. He was that fastest in the training yard, the best on a horse, and an expert in the matters of court. He was supposed to be an alpha. That’s certainly what the king thought, judging by the look on his face as Jungkook began his preheat. The king had worn a look of horror the same akin to one from someone telling him of an approaching army a few miles from the castle gates. By the end of the day, Jungkook had been promised to an alpha from the nearest kingdom. A boy Jungkook had met before and held no love for, and who he knew viewed omegas as natural born slaves to be used and owned by their alphas.

So he ran.

And maybe that was stupid. From a survivalist standpoint, it certainly seemed so, but Jungkook wasn’t so sure he cared about being a survivalist right now. Even death seemed better than the future that would await him if he stayed. He’d rather take his chances. After all, he was fast. Strong. Picked things up quickly. If he could make it to a place where people didn’t know him, he could survive. So that was his plan. Just go. Keep moving and don’t stop. Not for anything.

Not even when his full heat hit.

Jungkook swallowed his fear and continued to press on, but he could feel his legs growing weak. He’d left the castle before dawn and the sun had dropped almost entirely below the horizon now. The young prince had only dared chance one stop today. He’d needed to refill his water at a stream he’d passed and to rub smears of mud across his skin to mask his scent and appearance. Jungkook already knew his scent was becoming too strong though. The sweet scent of vanilla and roses permeated the muck of the river, and Jungkook knew he had only a day at most before his full heat hit. He couldn’t afford to stop, but his legs were already shaking, muscles straining from the forced movement of so many hours. Jungkook knew he had to stop and rest soon. His father thought he’d be cowardly, he knew that. He thought all omegas were cowards by nature so it wasn’t likely that his father would actually send out search parties until it became clear that his son wouldn’t be coming back on hands and knees to beg for forgiveness. That gave him a week at most to reach the country’s eastern border.

A week to win his freedom or lose everything.

Jungkook’s foot snagged on an uneven bit of rock hidden by the growing dusk, sending him tumbling to the ground. At least he’d reached the beginning of the mountains. No one would think to look for him here for at least a few days. The boy staggered to his feet, relieved that he could still place a normal amount of weight on both legs. He continued on until stumbling upon what looked to be a small cave in the side of one of the rock walls that seemed abundant in this place. The young prince never understood how they came to be. His father told him once that the cliffs used to be the sides of an enormous river and that the land of the forest to the east of the castle had been a small pond that had been born of it. Jungkook had never really cared much for how the cliffs came into existence. He cared about the tactical advantage they gave his people of being able to see for miles into the distance. The chaos that would be born if they lost them.

But right now, none of that mattered. Currently, Jungkook was concerned with squeezing himself into this small cave that, based on the lack of tracks or scat in the area, he was hoping was free of animals or other humans. Exhaustion had begun to flood through his senses, and coupled with heat symptoms beginning to rear their ugly head, Jungkook wanted nothing more than to pass out somewhere halfway safe. The rock pressed into his stomach as he managed to press through the gap, and the young omega was relieved to see the entrance seemed to be the narrowest part of the cave. It wasn’t large by any means, but Jungkook could stretch his arms out to either side with a few inches left on either side between his fingertips and the stone walls that surrounded him. It was a bit deeper than it was wide, and Jungkook moved back to the back wall of the cave to allow him better cover from any being who may happen to pass by the cave as he slept. His scent was intensifying, and Jungkook knew now that his heat would be upon him sooner rather than later. He could feel his temperature rising. He was not looking forward to the pain of spending his first heat alone, especially while on the run. That wasn’t to say he’d prefer having an alpha to fuck him through it, but he’d like another omega, a more experienced one, to hold him and ensure he was having all the normal symptoms. To put it simply, Jeon Jungkook was scared.

There were too many unknown variables in his life right now, and now that he’d finally found a semblance of safety, the young prince felt the urge to let go of all of them. He felt exhaustion flood his body as he dropped his pack against the cave wall and sat down beside it, stretching his back and relishing pull of the tight muscles found there. An moment later, Jungkook moved to lay on his side, ignoring the pebbles pushing into his hips and ribcage. His head rested atop his pack and his back pressed against the stone wall as he finally closed his eyes and allowed himself to fall unconscious. Before all conscious thought left him, Jungkook noticed that the stone wall against his back felt oddly warm to be the inner wall of a cave. It must be a side-effect of the heat, he reasoned before passing out.

The sound of stone grinding against stone pulled Jungkook from his slumber. He felt his heat, now almost fully upon him as his head seemed to grow fuzzy and his body was filled with an unknown ache that seemed to grow with each passing moment. Dazed, he blinked his eyes open to see a slit of orange light growing from behind him. Jungkook lept away from the unknown light to the opposite wall. The slit grew, as the wall Jungkook had been asleep against moved to the side to reveal two men standing in what seemed now to be some sort of concealed doorway. Alpha and omega, his brain told him immediately. Jungkook’s breathing sped up and he felt his body began to quake at the sight of the two.

“Shit, Yoongi, I told you there was someone out here,” the omega whispered, stepping toward Jungkook.

“Please, don’t hurt me. I just needed somewhere to sleep for a few hours. I promise I don’t know anything,” Jungkook begged the man in front of him.

“Easy, baby. No one’s gonna hurt you.” The omega knelt in front of him and reached a hand out to brush against his cheek.

“Jimin, he’s a terrified omega and he smells like he’s starting his heat soon. I’m only gonna scare him more if I stick around,” the other man spoke. Jimin’s eyes never left Jungkook’s face, but the young prince tore his own away for a moment to stare at the second man, everything about him screaming alpha, alpha, alpha.

“You’re right. Could you go tell Taehyung what we found and send Jin down this way? I think it's his first one. I’m gonna stay with him,” Jimin’s finally tore his eyes away from the young prince, having found what he was looking for, and faced the alpha looming in the corridor. Yoongi nodded, turning away from the pair and walking away down some hallway out of Jungkook’s view. Jimin turned back to Jungkook and his thumb began rubbing calming strokes along the boy’s face. Jungkook’s body still shook in his grip, but this boy didn’t seem like he had any malicious intent. At least, not at this moment.

“So was I right?” Jimin asked softly, feeling Jungkook’s tremors begin to fade, “Is this your first heat?” Jungkook nodded slowly, seeing no point in lying. The other boy scooted closer to the young prince, silver hair falling gently into his matching grey eyes. “I know you don’t trust me right now, but you are safe. No one is going to hurt you while you’re in heat. Not here. They’d have to get through me, and that’s a lot harder than it looks.”

Jungkook huffed a short laugh at that, but noted that fact that Jimin specified that no one would hurt him while he was in heat. No promises were made for after his heat had passed. That seemed to be a problem for another time though, as Jimin didn’t seem to be entirely keen on letting the other boy leave either.

“Jimin! Yoongi said you found some- oh,” spoke another man appearing in the doorway. Jungkook glanced away from Jimin to scan the newcomer. He was taller than the earlier two, with broad shoulders and light pink hair. Beta. The newcomer walked toward the two omegas slowly, as if Jungkook was a young deer that may bolt if startled. Which, in all fairness, may not have been too far from the truth. “Hey there,” he started, kneeling on by Jungkook’s side, “I’m Jin, this is Jimin. Are you lost?” Jungkook shook his head.

“Then what are you doing out here?” Jimin asked gently.

“R-running,” Jungkook answered shortly.

“My father wanted me to be an alpha. When I presented as an omega, he basically sold me to the nearest available alpha. I can’t… I can’t do that. I can’t live like that,” Jungkook managed. He didn’t want to give too many details about himself or his situation, in case these men would simply decide to turn around and give him back to his father.

But Jimin growled low in his throat.

“I’m guessing you didn’t like the alpha?” Jin asked softly.

“Any alpha who takes a deal like that just wants a warm hole to fuck into and someone to give them pups,” Jimin spat. Jungkook nodded at his words.

“I’d seen how he treats omegas. They’re like subhuman to him. He terrifies me. He even terrified me when everyone thought I would be an alpha,” Jungkook managed before the heat sent a wave of pain through his body that made him cry out.

“We need to get him settled,” Jimin said determinedly, “He’s about to start his first heat.” He pulled Jungkook to his feet and wrapped the boy’s arm around his shoulder as Jin took the other. Jungkook looked at him with alarm.

“It hasn’t actually started yet?”

Jimin pursued his lips and looked at the boy beside him with pity. “You’ll know when it starts.” Jungkook paled at his words.

“Don’t worry, Jiminie is going to stay with you,” Jin spoke on his other side, both of them pulling Jungkook through the stone doorway that quickly slid shut behind him. Jungkook felt a sense of relief upon hearing he would have someone to watch over him during his heat, even if it was virtually a stranger. The hallway they entered into was large, heavy stone continuing to pave their surroundings with lit torches hanging every few feet to light the way. Archways branched off the path and Jungkook was suddenly very grateful for the two people on either side of him. Without them, he knew he’d never be able to get anywhere in this labyrinth, especially with his head as fuzzy as it was at the moment.

Jimin pulled the other two down one of the branching corridors, passing one, two, three sets of large wooden doors before stopping and withdrawing a key from his pocket to unlock the pain before him. The lock clicked softly and the doors parted gently under Jimin’s touch. Inside lay a bedroom with a door off to one side that Jungkook assumed must lead to an adjoining bathroom. Jimin and Jin pulled the young prince into the room, setting him down on the four-poster bed in the middle of the space. Jungkook curled his legs into his chest as he waited for some direction, his sore feet relishing the soft blankets that were heaped onto the bed.

“You can go, Jin,” Jimin said, eyes back on Jungkook, “Tell Yoongi I won’t be coming to bed tonight please.”

Jin huffed a laugh as his fingertips brushed the doorknob. “I think he probably already knows.”

“You’d be surprised how dense he can be,” the omega stated, finally turning to look at his friend, a mischievous smile decorating his lips.

Jin let out a full laugh this time, loud and full of life. It sounded a little like someone was washing windows, but Jungkook supposed that added to its charm. “Alright, alright, I’ll pass it along. If you need anything tape a note to the door. I’ll send a servant down to check every hour or so.”

“Thank you.”

Jin nodded and exited the room, door closing behind him with a slight click. Jungkook’s scent was nearly overpowering now, vanilla and rose drowning out any trace of Jin or Jimin’s scents. Warmth encased his body and the young omega let out an uncomfortable whine as he felt the heat begin to fully hit him. His body ached and with each passing moment, the pain seemed to intensify. Jungkook wanted an alpha, he didn’t care who, didn’t care how. He just knew he needed one.

“A-alpha,” the boy groaned. Jimin crossed the room in a heartbeat and was at the younger boy’s side, a hand stroking along his back in a manner the Jungkook supposed was meant to be soothing.

“Now it’s finally starting to hit you,” the omega stated. He positioned himself behind the younger omega on the bed and pulled Jungkook into his arms. Jungkook had heard that touch was meant to lessen an omega’s heat symptoms, but he’d always supposed that that only applied with the touch of an alpha. Yet here was Jimin, an omega, nestling Jungkook into his lap and pressing the youngers head into his own chest. Jungkook could finally smell the other's scent, being only inches from the scent gland that rested in the crease between the neck and the shoulder. Apricot and ginger. Sweet but with an underlying hidden bite. From what Jungkook knew about the other, that seemed fitting.

Another wave of pain tore through Jungkook’s body, eliciting a soft whimper from the back of his throat. “Alpha,” he begged, borrowing deeper into Jimin’s hold, “please.”

“I know, baby,” Jimin whispered, a hand coming up to stroke the young omega’s hair. He placed a gentle kiss to the top of his head, hoping Jungkook may find it comforting. “I know.”

Jungkook’s whimpering and begging eventually died off as the boy’s body finally allowed him to pass out in Jimin’s embrace. The older omega never once complained or chastised Jungkook as he worked his way into his first heat. He dealt with the pleading for an alpha, dealt with the slick that eventually soaked through the boy’s pants, and the perpetually hard cock constantly grinding down on his thigh. Jimin knew how first heats worked, and he knew the best ways to help others through them. He carded his fingers through Jungkook’s hair, a smile playing at his lips as the other let out a soft sigh at the touch.

“They’re not going to find you,” Jimin whispered to the sleeping boy, “I’m not going to let them.”

Jungkook curled in tighter to his elder’s touch.

“You’re ours.”
