Work Text:

It had been a few years since he seen Ye Zun. They both led relatively separate lives after university. While Shen Wei went on to become a writer, Ye Zun became a community project manager.

He helped host large and small events, usually taking inspiration from Shen Wei’s trips, then using that to promote his brother’s work.

While Shen Wei is appreciative of his efforts, he didn’t find it necessary. However, he knew when Ye Zun started talking about his equally good-looking brother, when he received a flood of comments and messages on his blogs regarding it.

Shen Wei loved to travel while Ye Zun loved staying in the city he grew up in.

There were a couple of times Ye Zun accompanied him on trips out of the country, mostly during the early days of their career where work offers did not come in as plentiful as they do now. Shen Wei quietly wondered when he would be able to travel with Ye Zun again, with Zhao Yun Lan by his side.

It would be fun, Shen Wei thought as his brother ran up to him and pulled him into a tight hug.

“I missed you, gege,” Ye Zun whispered by his ear. Shen Wei smiled.

“I missed you too, didi,” Shen Wei whispered back.

When they parted, Ye Zun saw Zhao Yun Lan standing off to the side, not sure where to place himself in the brotherly reunion.

“So,” Ye Zun started off as his gaze trailed from Zhao Yun Lan to Shen Wei, “when’s the wedding?”

Zhao Yun Lan made a choking sound and Shen Wei stared back at his brother in surprise. He slowly moved his left hand under the jacket he was holding to hide the poorly drawn-on ring. As much as he wanted to wash it off in the plane, he couldn’t bring himself to do it because it represented Zhao Yun Lan’s trust and dedication to starting a new life, with him.

“I didn't mean anything by that,” Shen Wei heard Ye Zun say when he pulled himself out of his thoughts, “It was a romantic confession, though a little cheap.”

“Didi,” Shen Wei warned and Ye Zun shrugged before walking towards the exit. Shen Wei turned back to Zhao Yun Lan, his Yun Lan, and intertwined their fingers. “He didn’t mean anything by that.”

“I know,” Zhao Yun Lan responded softly. Shen Wei gave Yun Lan a quick peck on the cheek before pulling him along to follow after Ye Zun.

It almost felt like an eternity since he returned but everything will be different now that he has Yun Lan by his side.

“By the way,” Ye Zun turned towards the couple when they finally caught up, a mischievous glint in his eyes, “I helped you rearrange your furniture a little.”

Shen Wei narrowed his eyes and Ye Zun smiled back innocently.

“What did you do?”

Shen Wei once returned to a barren home after a six-month trip. Not only did his twin brother take all his furniture and placed it in a warehouse, Ye Zun went out of his way to paint all the walls white, for reasons that Shen Wei couldn’t even begin to fathom. Shen Wei was sure that if he had enough time, the vegetation from the garden would also be removed. Maybe even the grass on his lawn would be gone.

“Do you not trust your darling brother, me?” Ye Zun asked with his puppy dog eyes and dramatically clasped his hands over his chest. Shen Wei didn’t respond and Ye Zun sighed with a slight pout, but soon turned into a playful smile. “I was just being thoughtful and thought you two needed a bigger bed for, you know, couple activities.”

Shen Wei’s cheeks flushed pink at the sudden suggestion while Zhao Yun Lan was grinning ear to ear. Ye Zun had a smug “mission accomplished” look on his face before he turned around and continued walking out.

“So, should we test out your new bed?” Yun Lan asked. The gall of this man.

“Don’t push it, Xiao Lan,” Shen Wei said and walked after his brother, tugging along a happy Yun Lan.

Shen Wei smiles when he saw Yun Lan sprawled over their new bed. He still remembered the way Yun Lan smiled so beautifully and warm when Shen Wei called it their home.

“Xiao Wei,” Yun Lan said as he rolled onto his back and propped himself up on his elbows, “come join me.”

Shen Wei resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Instead, he smiled as he walked over. Yun Lan’s phone pinged with a notification, so naturally he reached over to the side table to retrieve his phone. As Shen Wei sat down on the mattress, he saw Yun Lan’s face visibly pale.

“Yun Lan, are you okay?” Shen Wei asked and his own phone also pinged. He took the device out of his back pocket and noticed two new messages in a new group chat called “Travel Trio”.

“How does Ye Zun have my phone number?” Yun Lan asked but Shen Wei didn’t look up as he opened the notification.

“He asked me for it. I figured it was important for you two to have each other’s contacts,” Shen Wei explained as he saw a link to a video. A video of Yun Lan’s proposal at the airport.

There was a message underneath the video.

“Shen Wei, where are you going?” Yun Lan asked when Shen Wei stood up and walked away from him.

“Sorry, I need to do something.”
