“Hyung, please?” Jimin swings Yoongi’s arm as he speaks, ignoring as his classmates all brush past them in haste to leave the lecture hall.
“No.” Yoongi sighs wearily, hefting his bag a little higher over his shoulders. “You know I hate taking those types of pictures, ask Kook or Taehyung, I’m sure they’ll happily take them with you.”
“Those type of pictures are called ‘purikuras’.” He continues latching onto Yoongi’s arm even as the older keeps walking. “I want to take them with you, you’re my favorite.”
“Not now, Jimin-ah.” Yoongi drags him along. “I have something to do today.”
“But you promised me.” Jimin says sticking out his bottom lip in a pout, knowing that it always worked to some degree despite Yoongi denying it time after time.
Yoongi stops abruptly, turning to look at him. He sees the determination fade from the older’s face and Jimin already knows that he’s going to get what he wants.
“If I take one with you, will you stop badgering me?” Yoongi asks, a look of defeat on his face.
“Yes!” Jimin lets go of Yoongi’s upper arm and entwines their hands together, bouncing happily beside him. “Let’s go after lunch, we can go to the one I went to with Kookie and Tae Tae.”
“I can’t go today.” Yoongi gives him a small indulgent smile. “I’m heading to the airport, gotta pick up an old friend of mine.”
“Is it the childhood friend you mentioned before?” Jimin swings their linked hands as they make their way out of their lecture hall to Yoongi’s car.
“Yeah.” Yoongi pulls the door open and grumbles when the cold blasts right through their winter jackets. “Seok’s coming back from LA and staying with me and Kook until he finds his own place.”
“Then can I come along and meet him?” Jimin presses a little closer to Yoongi just as a crowd of people stream past them, probably heading to the lecture hall they’d just vacated. He steps a little closer to his friend to avoid getting bumped into. “Since I’m your best friend, I want to meet him.”
“Who said you were even my friend?” Yoongi asks teasingly.
“Hyungie, you’re so mean.” He makes a face and sticks his tongue out at Yoongi childishly. “I’ve been by your side since high school, if I’m not your best friend, who is?”
“Namjoon.” Yoongi answers without hesitation, chuckling when Jimin snatches his hand away to smack him on the chest.
“See if I ever bring you coffee again.” Jimin huffs and stomps ahead without waiting for Yoongi.
“Alright, alright. You’re my best friend, happy? ” Yoongi calls out from behind, his small frown turning into a gummy smile when Jimin turns around and bounds back happily to stand beside him. “Jesus, a man getting their masters degree should not be forced to say something like that.” Yoongi complains. “This sounds like a conversation I’ve heard in elementary.”
“But you’ll do it all again because you love me.” Jimin grins up at Yoongi who just chuckles and take his hands in his once again.
Jungkook and Taehyung are already at the cafe when they arrive, the two of them laughing at something on Taehyung’s phone.
Taehyung spots them first, yelling loudly for Jin, whose working behind the counter, and Namjoon whose hovering around Jin with a dopey smile on his face.
“Why were you two so late?” Jin asks as he wipes his hands on the towel in front of him.
“Blame Jimin.” Yoongi has a hand resting on the small of Jimin's back as he answers Jin. “He was being a brat.”
“Oh, I totally understand.” Jin chuckles as he takes Yoongi’s credit card. “Jiminie has always been a brat.”
“Hey!” He interrupts, slapping a hand on the counter. “I’m your brother, you should be on my side.”
“I know you too well to lie.” Jin shrugs, broad shoulders lifting into the air before it drops back down. “Plus, there’s no point lying to Yoongi anyways, he knows how you’re an angel with a halo held up by devil horns.”
“You two are the worst.” He pouts and stomps his foot before he turns away from them, heading to Taehyung and Jungkook with his chin lifted in the air, leaving Yoongi to order for him.
Yoongi’s chuckles follow him all the way to the table where Jungkook welcomes him with a bunny-like smile and Taehyung almost instantly begins to blather on about his day once Jimin sits down.
It doesn’t take long for Yoongi to join them, naturally taking the empty chair beside Jimin.
Jin and Namjoon follows behind, Sejun trailing behind them with their food.
Five pairs of grabby hands all reach for the tray at the same time.
Jin just sighs, long used to their uncivilized actions.
“Thank you, Sejunie.” Jimin smiles at the younger boy who’s been working for Jin almost ever since the beginning. “You’re the best. Jin hyung is lucky to have you at his cafe.”
Sejun returns the grin happily. “It’s nothing, Jiminie hyung. I’m always happy to serve you guys.”
“If you two are done with the flirting.” Jin lifts his chin in the general direction with a customer with his hand in the air.
Sejun whips his face towards the direction Jin was pointing to and grimaces. “Whoops?”
“Go, you brat.” Jin laughs and shoos the younger boy away laughingly.
“You should be thanking me instead.” Yoongi grumbles once Sejun gets called away by another customer. “I’m the one who pays for your meals 24/7.”
“Aww.” Jimin coos, leaning against Yoongi’s shoulder. “You know I love you the most Min Min hyung.”
“Don’t call me that.” Yoongi weakly attempts to dislodge his head with his shoulder. “I hate that nickname.”
“But Min Min hyung,” he whines. “I—”
“I’d like to keep my lunch in my stomach this time.” Jungkook groans, covering his mouth and mimicking vomiting sounds.
“We weren’t even doing anything.” Jimin whinges. “I didn’t even say anything gross like the Nam-Jin couple always does.”
“Excuse you.” Jin says. “I could never be gross.”
Namjoon runs a hand softly over the top of Jin’s head, pulling him closer. “Love, we have something to tell them, don’t we?”
“Oh, that’s right.” Jin grins, happiness radiating off him in waves. “We definitely do.”
Jimin finds his hand slipping into Yoongi’s bigger one as he watches Namjoon and Jin exchange a meaningful look, the one where they talk without saying a single word. Even after three years of seeing them exchange looks like that, he doesn’t think he’ll ever get used to seeing it without the accompanying mix of jealousy and happiness that his older brother, who had sacrificed so much for him, had found someone so amazing, someone who loved him for him.
“We’re getting married!” Jin cries out with Namjoon, both of them sticking out their hands, matching rings on their fingers.
Taehyung is the first to react, screaming loudly as he jumps up from his seat.
Jimin follows close behind, jumping right at the couple and into their arms.
They’re all in a wrapped up in a group hug as they bounce around, a mess of limbs and squeals as they all babble and scream.
It takes them a while to settle down back in their seats, Jin bowing apologetically at the other customers with a polite smile.
Namjoon and Jin stay wrapped together lovingly in their post-proposal haze as the former tells them about the proposal full of lame jokes and puns that Jin had absolutely loved.
He coos out loud when Jin curls up against Namjoon when he tells them about the mushy rose covered 5 star hotel room and almost every step of the proposal.
“They look really happy.” Jimin whispers quietly to Yoongi, eyes focused on the happy couple discussing their wedding plans with Jungkook and Taehyung.
“Yeah.” Yoongi’s answer is a little curt.
He forces his gaze from the other four and turns towards Yoongi. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Yoongi replies, jabbing at his cake. “I’m just a little surprised.”
“Didn’t Namjoon hyung talk with you about this?” Jimin slips his hand back into Yoongi’s, squeezing lightly when the older shakes his head. “Namjoon hyung probably just wanted to keep things private. You know how things are, if he tells you, you’ll tell me whether it’s accidental or on purpose, and then I’ll spill it to Tae or Kook, then in the end, Jin hyung will hear about it even before Joonie hyung gets to propose.”
“That’s not really the point.” Yoongi sighs. “I’m just worried. He’s young and so is Jin hyung.”
“I know it might feel a little weird since we’re still in university, but the two of them have long passed this stage.” Jimin draws soothing circles on the back of Yoongi’s hand. “Jin hyung has had the cafe for 5 years and Namjoon hyung is an amazing lawyer, he has a steady job in the firm. Both of them are steady in financial and emotional terms, you don’t have to worry about them.”
“I know.” The other man gives his hand a soft pat. “But I still worry for them.”
"They have each other.” Jimin gestures to the couple just as Namjoon presses a kiss to the top of Jin’s head. “They’ll be the type of couple that makes the entire world jealous of what they have.”
Yoongi gives him a soft smile before he leans over him and gives Namjoon a pat on the back. “Congrats both of you.”
They spend the rest of the hour talking about Namjoon and Jin’s future plans until Jungkook interrupts. “Hyung, we have to go pick up Hobi hyung.”
“Oh right.” Yoongi pushes back from the table and stands. “Sorry but I have to go pick up a friend from the airport.”
Jimin stands as well, Yoongi helping him into his jacket.
“Can I come along as well?” Taehyung asks. “You’re bringing Chim along anyways.”
Yoongi lifts an eyebrow but he doesn’t react other than to ask why.
Taehyung shrugs. “Kook told me about Hoseok-ssi and he seems like a fun guy.”
“You’re just coming because you have nothing to do.” Yoongi rolls his eyes. “But you can come along if you really want to.”
“That’s not true.” Taehyung says as he jumps up from his seat. “I could have thousands of things planned afterwards, you never know.”
“Then why don’t you do those thousand of things instead.” Yoongi answers dryly as he shrugs into his own jacket.
“Because.” Taehyung pushes Yoongi out the door, not bothering to wait for Jimin or Jungkook.
He hears Yoongi groaning as he makes his ways outside and lets out a giggle.
“I’ll see you guys later.” Jimin says as he hugs both Namjoon and Jin hyung goodbye. “Guess I never needed to kick your ass in the end, hyung.”
Namjoon chuckles at that. “Just as I promised you in the beginning.”
“You threatened my Joonie?” Jin lifts an eyebrow. “With your tiny 5’8 ass, who would be intimidated?”
“A lot of people.” Jimin winks as Jin screeches indignantly, demanding answers. He laughingly tugs Jungkook out of the cafe to Jin’s squeaks.
“You, a living mochi, threatening people?” Jungkook snorts, disbelievingly. “I don’t think I can ever imagine that.”
Jimin bumps into Jungkook purposefully. “You remember Yugyeom?”
“No.” Instead of denying Jimin’s question, Jungkook’s answer was more of disbelief.
“I did.” Jimin shrugs. “Saw him kissing this girl so I told him to tell you himself.”
“What was he so scared of?” Jungkook laughs. “Your obsession with Zorro? It’s not like you’d pull out a sword right there and chop him to pieces.”
“I could have.” He pouts.
“Alright, alright.” Jungkook shrugs, looping an arm over his shoulders. “You the baddest bitch.”
Jimin twists out of Jungkook’s arms, disgust scribbled over his features making the younger burst into laughter.
“Are you guys coming or not?” Taehyung calls out, waving his arms impatiently as he sticks his upper body out of the car.
“We’re coming.” Jungkook calls back, the younger’s hand easily wrapping around Jimin’s wrist as he tugs him towards the duo.
Yoongi rolls his eyes when Jungkook pulls the passenger door open for him. “Stop acting like the gentleman you’re not and just get in the car.”
“What crawled up your ass, hyung?” Jungkook asks as he settles in the backseat. “Is it because you’re gonna be seeing Hobi hyung in an hour? The nerves making you crabby?”
“Shut up.” Yoongi turns back briefly to flip Jungkook off before he faces forward again. “Seat belts.”
Jimin groans and buckles himself in under the watchful eyes of Yoongi. “Yes sir.”
“Fuck off.” Yoongi groans as steps on the gas, pulling them out of the car park.
“You’re stuck with me.” Jimin laughs. “Forever and ever.”
“That’s seems a bit too long.” Yoongi grumbles. “I’d rather not have to suffer for that long.”
“I love you too, hyung.”
“What about us?” Taehyung complains. “As the third wheels, we’re feeling uncomfortable.”
“I don’t think that’s how things work.” Jimin turns around to glare at his two friends.
"That’s—” Jimin turns around and shoots his friend a glare before Taehyung can say something to embarrass him. Understanding instantly, Taehyung backtracks quickly. “Right. There’s no couple. No third wheeling.”
Jungkook rolls his eyes from his seat beside Taehyung. Like older brother, like younger brother.
“This is why Jungkook is my favorite dongsaeng.” Jimin faces back forward only to feel the small kick to the back of his seat.
“And to think I tell people you’re my soulmate.” Taehyung cries out dramatically. “Just watch, I’ll replace you with Hoseok-ssi.”
“You barely know him.” Jimin laughs as he digs around the glove box as they near the toll area, handing Yoongi the money needed.
“Well this is why I’m going to the airport with you guys, so I can get to know him and he can be my new bestie.” He can practically see the pout in Taehyung’s petulant tone. “Since Yoongi hyung is yours.”
"I'm offended." Jungkook protests. "I met Jiminie first."
"That's Jiminie hyung to you." Jimin chides halfheartedly, long used to Jungkook forgetting honorifics.
Yoongi takes the money from him just as they near the gates. “You can have him back now that Seok is coming back.”
It’s a joke, obviously but on the inside, he’s terrified of it coming true.
"Hyung isn't something you can just give away." Jungkook's tone is a little too serious for their joking around.
When he turns around to check on the younger, his face is blank. He spots Taehyung nudging the younger, a clearly confused expression on his face.
Jungkook just shrugs before he meets Jimin's gaze.
When he frowns at the younger, Jungkook just gives him a small smile that doesn't answer his unasked question.
“Tell us about Hoseok-ssi, so Taehyung can successfully steal him away.” He masks the hurt with a punch on Yoongi’s arm just as he leans out the window to pay. “You’ve mentioned him quite a bit before.”
“He’s basically a dance freak, has been since he was a kid and still was when he left in middle school.” Yoongi shrugs. “That’s how I remembered him.”
“A ball of sunshine.” Jungkook adds on. “That’s how you always referred to him.”
“Oh.” Jimin feels the surprise slip from his mouth before he can bite down on it. He ignores the way Yoongi glances over at him, a hint of worry etched on his features and slaps a flimsy smile on his face. “Then I’ll probably get along with Hoseok-ssi since Min Min hyung calls the both of us by similar nicknames.”
They spend the rest of the car ride talking about Hoseok as they get to know Yoongi and, as brothers, Jungkook’s childhood friend.
The rest of the journey to the airport is filled with teasing and little anecdotes about Hoseok.
But for some reason, the uncomfortable feeling in his chest doesn’t subside.
