Satine looked in the eyes of her advisers, then pursed her lips. She was tired of being told what she had to do, tired of being the puppet figure her family meant to make of her as they pushed their agenda forward.
"And if I don't?"
"We will never have peace, not in your life time or that of your children," her uncle said bluntly. "They must be executed, as enemies of the state, so that the rebellion dies with them."
"Peace begun with bloodshed is no peace at all," she said. "Exile them, instead."
