"Why am I here?" Scorpius murmurs while standing in the middle of the living room at the Burrow, surrounded by Jamie's cousins.
"Because you're whipped," Al whispers back, with a huge grin.
"Oh, shut up," Scorpius says, chuckling. "I'm not that bad."
Albus laughs. "You're here, making candied apples and candy canes, when you don't even know where your kitchen is."
"I know where my kitchen is. Somewhere on the ground floor," he says with a smirk. "I might not have been in the kitchen, but I know where it is. Sort of." He turns his head and smiles when Jamie wraps his arms around Scorpius' middle. Scorpius leans back, resting against his lover. "You have abandoned me."
Albus snorts. "Not whipped at all."
"Dad firecalled," Jamie rests his chin on Scorpius' shoulder while he speaks. "They arrested the prick that got Clara pregnant. He's married and they were having an affair. When she told him that she wanted to keep the baby, he modified her memory. He just happened to see my face on the cover of Quidditch Today and that's why he put me as the father in her memories. The rest of her memories were real, things the two of them did together."
"She must be relieved," Scorpius says.
"Dad says she is. They were able to restore the correct memories and she feels better knowing that she would have kept the baby regardless." Jamie kisses Scorpius' neck, grinning at the little sigh of pleasure he gets in return. "Ready for tomorrow?"
"I can't believe your father invited my family to Christmas dinner," Scorpius says.
"I can't believe your grandparents accepted. They will be shocked when they see how many people have to fit in our dining room," Albus answers.
"At least Aunt Andromeda will be there. They will have someone to talk to," Scorpius says, although he doesn't feel very optimistic.
"Your grandmother made an impression on Dad with that ornament." Jamie, contrary to the other two, isn't too worried.
Scorpius rolls his eyes. "You think it was the ornament? Seriously?"
"Sirius means a lot to my father," Jamie says with a shrug.
"I'm sure he does, but you don't think it was the fact that she mentioned that she expects us to marry? No, it's the ornament. Really, Jamie, how can you be so smart and so obtuse at the same time?" Scorpius casts a cleaning spell on his hands, before he turns in Jamie's arms and laces his fingers behind Jamie's neck. "Your parents love you and they are doing it for you, not for a man who died before we were born, and my family accepted the invitation because they love me. It's… well, in keeping with the Christmas spirit."
Jamie steps closer and kisses him, groaning when his grandmother yells at him to break it off. "Grandma, it's just a kiss." Scorpius grins against Jamie, not stupid enough to let her see his reaction.
"And when you get married, you can do all the kissing you want. Until then, not in my house," she answers.
Jamie chuckles. "I don't know how she thinks we'll get married if we never kiss anyone."
"I think she meant go do it where she can't see you," Albus puts in. "A sentiment shared by all since you're so sweet that you make us sick."
Jamie glares at Albus. "You're just jealous."
Scorpius chuckles. "I can tell you with certainty that he's not jealous of you since he's not interested in anyone with a prick. Violet, on the other hand-"
"Shut up. She's nice," Al murmurs.
"She's a Slytherin and she's most definitely not nice, but she's very good looking. Even I can admit that," Scorpius answers.
"She's smart and interesting. She can talk about anything," Albus continues.
Scorpius laughs. "All very true, and none of that makes her nice. I'm not insulting her. I'm just saying that she's too smart for nice."
"Fine, you're right, and I might be interested. Now detach yourself from my brother and help us with these apples. Grandma won't let us go until we have enough for tomorrow."
"Work awaits us." Scorpius kisses Jamie quickly and steps back.
"It does." Jamie finds a place next to Scorpius to help with the apples. "I love you," he murmurs after a moment. Scorpius smiles and they both ignore the way Albus pretends to throw up.
