With You - MikaYuu

Chapter Text

Yuu, Mika, and the others were at the beach like always. Yuu and Shinoa were holding hands and laughing along with the others. Except Mika. They were all talking when Kimizuki turned his head to the right and noticed Mika was sitting alone pretty far from them on the sand facing the ocean. Without the others noticing, he walked over and sat next to him.

“Hey,” Kimizuki said.

"Hi...," Mika responded. He looked at him confused, wondering why he was talking to him.

“So why are you sitting here alone?”

“Why are you sitting here with me?”

“Well you're alone and you looked pretty sad.”

“And you care?”

“I’m curious.”

Mika turned his head to face the ocean again instead of Kimizuki. “I don’t know why I’m here. I just know I don’t want to be over there,” he motioned toward the others with his head.

“Why not?”

“I just don’t. I don’t know why. I just, I mean,” he sighs. “I just don’t really want to be near Yuu right now. And I don’t know why. I just know it’s painful to be with him now for some reason. So, I’m here.”

“Yeah. That’s the only way I know how to describe the way I feel when I’m with him now.”

“And you don’t know why you feel that way,” it wasn’t a question.

“No. All I know is that I get really sad when I’m with him or even around him.”

“Well you seem sad even when you’re not around him. And you’ve been pretty quiet lately.”

“I can’t help it.”

“Could it be because he’s with Shinoa now? If I remember correctly that’s about the time you started avoiding him and distancing yourself.”

“I don’t know.”

“Well is it possible it has to do with the fact that you’re in love with him?”

Mika didn’t say anything. He was pretty sure that was the reason but he just couldn’t bring himself to admit it. A tear rolled down his cheek as he looked away. He quickly wiped it away but Kimizuki didn’t miss it.

"Oh." is all Kimizuki said.

A few moments passed. “You can’t say anything. Please don’t say anything.” Another tear.

“You know, Yuu’s never told Shinoa he loves her. There’s a chance he’s only with her because he feels like he should. Or he’s confusing his feelings for her. I don’t know, but I think you should tell him how you feel.”

“No. I can’t do that. He seems happy with her. I don’t want to ruin that for him.”

“But you’re not happy.”

“Doesn’t matter.”

“I think it does.”

“I don’t-”

“Hey Mika! Kimizuki!” Yuu called them smiling, interrupting Mika. “What are you guys doing over there? Come hang out with us!”

Mika stood up. “Please don’t say anything.”

Kimizuki got up, nodded and they began walking towards the others.

“Hey,” Mika smiled. Kimizuki didn’t like that Mika acted like he was alright.

“Hey, I just remembered. Mika, it’s been almost five days since you last drank blood. Come on let’s go,” Yuu took a step toward Mika.

“No,” Mika took a step back. “I’m ok Yuu thanks,” he smiled again.

“But Mika-”

“Hey Mikaela," Kimizuki interrupted. "I'm going to the store, do you want to come with me?” The store was an abandoned one like the one Yuu and Mika had been in when Mika first drank Yuu’s blood. They went there sometimes to get whatever food they could find.

“Oh, uh, sure.” Mika and Kimizuki started walking away. Yuu looked at them confused.

“Hey! I’ll go with you guys.”

“No, you should stay here and help the others in case more horseman of the apocalypse show up,” Kimizuki responded.

Yuu looked at Mika. “Mika?”

“He’s right Yuu. We’ll be fine and we won’t take long,” Mika smiled. As they began walking away again, Yuu stared, confused.

“Yuu what’s wrong?” Shinoa asked.

“I don’t know.” Yuu walked away and went to sit in the exact spot Mika had been sitting in.

"What's wrong Mika?" Yuu thought. ‘You've been avoiding me for weeks. I just thought when you were ready to talk you would. I don't like seeing you this way. Shouldn't you know by now that you can tell me anything? What's bothering you?’

"Yuu?" Shinoa sat next to him.

"What's wrong?"

"Something's bothering Mika. It's been bothering him for a while now. I thought he'd tell me but instead he's avoiding me." Yuu looked concerned, confused, and sad.

"Well maybe-" Shinoa started.

"Hey Shinoa. I'm sorry but I kind of want to be alone right now." Yuu said without looking at her.

"Ok," said Shinoa as she smiled, stood up, and walked away.

Mika and Kimizuki walked to the store in silence. When they got there they made sure it was empty. As soon as they were sure no one was there Mika sat down on the floor in silence with his head between his knees. Kimizuki walked around until he found an empty water bottle.

“Yuu’s right you know. You need blood.”

“I don’t want to bite him.”

“That’s why you’re going to drink mine,” Kimizuki cut himself and poured his blood into the bottle.

“Yeah no offence, but I don’t really want to bite you either,” Mika said without looking up.

“Don't worry, feeling's mutual. Here.” Kimizuki said handing him the bottle of blood.

Mika looked up. “Oh. Thank you.”

“Why are you doing a waterfall?” Kimizuki asked.

“Well I don’t know where this bottle has been, I’m not going to put my lips on it.”

Kimizuki smiled and sat next to him. “So how does my blood taste?”

“Yuu’s tastes better, but yours isn’t too bad.”

“Well what’s the difference?”

“Well, it’s going to sound cliché but Yuu’s tastes a little sweeter somehow,” Mika looked away blushing. “The metal taste in his blood isn’t as strong. Somehow the taste seems to fit him. I can’t explain it but when I drink his blood I feel like I’m drinking Yuu himself. I mean technically I am but I mean it’s different, I don’t know. It just tastes really good.” He blushed again and smiled. He sighed. “Yours taste more metal. I mean it’s still pretty sweet but the metal overpowers it. I don’t know you very well so that’s pretty much all I can say about it,” he stated matter-of-factly now.

“Hm,” is all Kimizuki said. He looked at Mika and was a little in awe. He could tell how much Mika loved Yuu and that he was in pain yet he refused to say anything because he wanted Yuu to be happy. Suddenly he saw a tear roll down Mika’s cheek.

“The tears won’t stop,” Mika laughed.

“That’s fine.”

“You don’t have to stay here.”

“It’s too hot outside anyway.”

“Why are you being nice to me? I’ve never been nice to any of you.”

“I don’t know. You’re charismatic somehow. We all like you. And we don’t blame you for not trusting us.”

“Well thanks I guess,” Mika didn’t really know what to say.

“I think we’ve been here for like an hour now. We should go back before they come to check on us.”

“I don’t really want to go back yet. You can go. Tell Yuu I don’t want to go back because it’s too hot out or something.”

“Vampires get hot?”

“No. He doesn’t know that though.”

“Alright," he said as he headed out.

“Kimizuki,” Mika called.

“Thanks. Again.”

Mika put his head between his knees. He started crying quietly. He wanted to stop but he just couldn't.

Kimizuki reached the others. Yuu was still sitting where Mika had been, just staring at the ocean. The others saw Kimizuki.

“Hey,” he says.

Yuu heard and turned around. He saw Kimizuki with the others but not Mika. He immediately stood up and ran to them.

“Where’s Mika?”

“He’s fine. He wanted to stay at the store because it’s too hot here.”

“Bull shit! Vampires don’t get hot!”

“You knew that huh?”

“What’s going on with him? He’s been avoiding me for weeks.”

“You noticed?”

“Of course I noticed! What the hell is going on with him?”

“I don’t know Yuu. You should talk to Mika about this.”

“Don’t give me that, of course you know! He told you! You’re buddies now right?”

“I don’t know what-”

“You called him Mika. You always call him Mikaela, now suddenly he’s Mika? I’m the only one who calls him that.”

Kimizuki sighed. ‘He’s more observant when it comes to Mika’ he thought“I’m only going to tell you because I think you should know. Come with me.” Kimizuki lead him away from the others. Far enough so that they couldn't hear but he whispered anyway.

“It’s weird,” Yuu said.

“You calling him Mika instead of Mikaela. Him confiding in you instead of me.”

“Well he didn’t really have anyone else to talk to. Yuu, if you noticed something was wrong why didn’t you say anything?”

“I figured he didn’t want to talk about it. I thought he knew he could tell me anything. But that’s not the point. What’s going on?”

“Ok well I don’t know how to say this so I guess I just will. Mika… well he’s in love with you.”

“What?” Yuu’s eyes widened.

"He won't tell you because he thinks you'll hate him or something. I don't know."

Yu involuntarily took a step back. Suddenly a tear rolled down his cheek and he looked pissed. ‘How the hell could he ever think I'd hate him?’ he thought. He looked down and clenched his teeth, clearly angry. He started walking away not bothering to wipe away the tear. He either didn’t notice or didn’t care.

“Hey Yuu! One more thing.”

Yuu stopped and turned around “What?”

“Give him a chance to tell you himself.”

He nodded and walked away. He walked past the others without even looking at them. Kimizuki followed, stopping when he got to the others. Shinoa asked Yuu if he was ok but you ignored her and kept walking. She looked worried, called his name and began to follow. Kimizuki stopped her.

“Shinoa. Where are you going?”

“With Yuu.”

“He’s just going to talk to Mika, he’ll be fine.”

“He looks upset though. I should be with him.”

“This isn’t just about him.”

“Yeah but we’re together I should-”

“You should understand that Mika’s important to Yuu and that there are things between them he can’t tell you about,” Kimizuki interrupted her.

Shinoa didn’t say anything. She looked sad, making Kimizuki feel a little bad.

“Sorry,” he said.

“Well this sucks,” Narumi said. “Something interesting is finally happening and we can’t know about it.”

“Yeah,” Mitsuba sighed.

Chapter Text

Yuu gets to the store and finds Mika. He sees Mika with his head between his knees and walks toward him. He kneels down in front of him.

“This is the only way you can cry, isn’t it? Alone.”

Mika immediately looked up, startled. “Yuu. What are you doing here?”

“Vampires don’t get hot Mika.”

“I didn’t think you’d know that.”

“Well I do. Now you want to tell me why you’re crying? Why you’ve been avoiding me lately.” Yuu sat down in front of Mika. “You’ve been avoiding me for weeks now. Do you really think I haven’t noticed?” he said calmly.

“I was hoping.”

“Why are you avoiding me?”

“Because I don’t want to be around you. It worries me that I don’t really care about you anymore. My emotions are fading.”

“That makes sense. And if I were anyone else I’d believe you. I know you’re lying. Besides you were crying only a minute ago.”

“Worth a shot.”

“Now tell me the truth.”

“Part of that was true. I don’t want to be around you.”

“Because it hurts Yuu. I’m not sure why, I just know it does. I know that I don’t like seeing you with her. I know that sounds bad and I’m sorry but when I do I get jealous and angry and sad and I hate feeling that way. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy that you’re happy, that’s why I didn’t want to say anything. But I’m just not. And staying away from you helps, it doesn’t make it go away but it helps a little. Because I don’t have to look at you. I don’t have to see you with her and I can try to think of something else. Anything else. It’s just painful being around you because…” Mika paused and looked down, away from Yuu. He hesitated for a moment trying not to cry. Tears were already rolling down his cheeks but he’d been able to speak up until now. He couldn’t find his voice. He didn’t know if he’d be able to say it. Yuu waited patiently. Mika breathed in and said, “Because I’m in love with you. I’m sorry. I know it’s wrong and I know I shouldn’t be. I know there’s something wrong with me because we’re family but I can’t help it. I know you don’t feel the same way and I can’t and I don’t blame you. But you asked why I was avoiding you and that’s why. I’m sorry.”

A tear rolled down Yuu’s cheek but he was able to speak clearly. “You don’t have to apologize for anything Mika,” Yuu paused. “I think I-”

“No.” Mika cut him off. “Don’t. I know that you care about me but it’s different. And I know that even now, you don’t want me to leave. So I won’t. I’ll stay with you. I’ll stay by your side for as long as you want.”

Yuu sat next to Mika. “I’ll always want you with me Mika. That’ll never change. If you need to avoid me once in a while and keep your distance I understand, because I don’t want to hurt you. But, at the same time, I’m selfish and I want you to stay with me.”

“Then I will,” Mika smiled.

“Thanks. So are you ready to go back?” Yuu smiled.

Mika sighed. “No. Not really,” he wiped away a tear.

“Then we’ll stay here as long as you want.”

“Yuu, you don’t have to-”

“Mika there’s nothing you can say or do that’ll make me leave you here. So we’ll stay here for as long as you want.”

“Well what if I don’t want to go back at all?”

“Well that’s fine but there’s no place for me to sleep here. Plus our clothes are over there. And I’m pretty sure they’d all come.”

“I know,” Mika paused. “Yuu?”

“Does it feel weird? Knowing I’m in love with you?”

“A little.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Stop apologizing. I didn’t say it bothered me.”

“Why doesn’t it?”

“I don’t know,” Yuu paused. “Mika?”

“Is it weird that I like it?”

“A little.”

“Don’t apologize. I didn’t say it bothered me.”

“Why doesn’t it?”

“Because it’s better than you hating me.”

“I could never do that.”

“I know.”

Mika began to cry quietly. He was shaking a little and there were tears rolling down his cheeks, but no noise whatsoever. Mika cried while they sat there in silence. About fifteen minutes later Mika calmed down. “Want to go now?” he asked Yuu smiling.

“Not really but let’s go.”

“Why not?”

“I don’t know I just don’t.”

“It’s better we do before they come to get us though.”

“Did you tell Kimizuki about how you feel?” Yuu pretended not to know.

Usually Mika would notice Yuu was hiding something but he was too tired to pay much attention. He stood up.

“Then I’m pretty sure he’ll hold them back.”

“Yeah but I doubt he’ll be able to hold them back much longer. We’ve been gone for like an hour now probably.”

“Do me a favor.”

Yuu got closer to Mika and put his hand on Mika’s cheek. He smiled, “Stop apologizing.”

“I’ll try.” Mika smiled back.

“Alright, let’s go,” Yuu sighed.

They walked back, keeping a distance between them instead of walking close to each other like they were used to. They walked not saying anything. Mika kept his eyes away from Yuu and Yuu did the same, although he couldn't help but glance at Mika once in a while. He wondered why he felt differently about Mika now. It was like he loved him now more than ever but that didn’t make sense so he just shook his head and ignored it. Mika saw but didn’t say anything. When they got back, the others got together to greet them. Shinoa hugged Yuu and Mika immediately walked away. Yuu barely hugged her back with one arm. Mika went back to where he had been sitting earlier. Kimizuki followed Mika and sat with him. The others asked Yuu if Mika was ok. He answered yes because what else was he supposed to say?

“Hey, Yuu can I talk to you alone for a second?” Shinoa grabbed Yuu’s hand.

“Yeah sure.” They walked away from the others.

“What is it?” Yuu asked Shinoa.

“I could ask you the same,” she replied.

“I’m sorry but I can’t tell you.”

“I thought we agreed we wouldn’t have secrets.”

“Yeah but it’s not my secret to tell. I’m sorry.” Yuu let go of Shinoa’s hand and walked away. He sat facing the ocean like Mika but far from him.

“Did you tell him?” Kimizuki asked Mika.

“How’d it go?”

“Well he doesn’t hate me.”

“I doubt Yuu could ever hate you. Do you realize how important you are to him?”

“I know I’m important to him but,” Mika paused. 'But so are all of you. Being important to Yuu... isn’t all that special anymore,' he thought. He didn’t want to say it out loud though.

“But what?”

“I don’t know.” is all he said.

Chapter Text

A couple days later

Mika was at the beach while the others had gone to a nearby “village,” you could call it. Yuu had insisted Mika go with them but Mika refused and said he’d rather stay and gave Yuu a meaningful look, reminding him of the conversation they had. The one where Yuu had said that it was ok if Mika avoided him once in a while because he didn’t want to hurt him, he realized this was one of those times. Mika was lying down when he heard the others coming back. He looked to his left and saw Kimizuki supporting Yuu. He immediately got up and went to them.

“Yuu! Are you ok?” he asked, worried.

“Mi-chan!” Yuu yelled. Mika paused looking surprised and making a -_- face.

“He got drunk,” Kimizuki explained.

“What!? You let him drink?!”

“We tried to stop him but he wouldn’t listen,” Kimizuki answered.

“Some guy was being a jerk and then challenged Yuu to a drinking contest,” said Yoichi.

“Yeah, he was saying some pretty insulting things to me and Mitsu,” Shinoa said.

“But when the guy challenged him we told him not to,” added Mitsuba.

“But he’s an idiot, so of course he did the exact opposite,” Narumi said.

Mika sighed. “Well did you at least win?”

“You bet I did!”

“No he didn’t,” corrected Kimizuki. Mika shook his head and sighed.

“I’ll take him to the barn so he can rest. Let’s go Yuu,” Shinoa took a step closer.

“No! I wanna be with Mi-chan!”

“Would you stop calling me that? It’s weird,” Mika said annoyed.

Yuu pushed Kimizuki, who was holding him since Yuu could barely walk, off and put his arms around Mika’s neck.

“I love you Mika,” he said smiling and resting his head on Mika’s chest.

“Um, ok Yuu. You really need to rest,” said Mika still surprised and not holding on to him.

“Nu uh. I want to stay with you. And you’re not even gonna say you love me too?”

“I love you too…” Mika said like it was a question.

“I know you do.” Mika rolled his eyes. “I’ve never said it Mika, but I love you more than anyone else on earth,” Yuu smiled.

Mika looked up at the others who were staring surprised, except for Kimizuki who had an “I knew it,” expression on his face.

“And you know something Mika? I think you’re hot.” Everyone stared -_-. “Like your body is perfect,” Yuu continued, hiccupping every once in a while. “And your face is like wow. Like it was carved by angels. And not just that, when the sun hits you, you shine like an angel. And your hair is so soft,” he reached up to twirl a strand of Mika’s hair with his finger. “And your eyes are really pretty even though they’re red now. It’s just not fair!” He then moved his hand to Mika’s cheeck, caressing his bottom lip with his thumb. He stared at Mika’s lips and said, more serious now, “Whenever I look at you, I want to kiss you Mika.” He was about to kiss him when Mika turned his head, avoiding Yuu’s lips.

“You’re drunk Yuu.”

“Mika, I love you.”

“I know you do Yuu, but it’s not like that. You’re confused.”

“But I’m not Mika! And I know you feel the same!”

“Yuu…” Mika didn’t know what to say.

“Mika.” Yuu kissed him on the cheek which made Mika blush.

“You have a girlfriend. And when you sober up you’ll realize that you don’t love me like this.”

“You know what they say, ‘kids and drunk people always tell the truth.’”

“Yeah no.”

“Why won’t you believe me?”

“I’ll believe you when you say it sober, ok?”

“Ok,” Yuu sighed. Suddenly, before Mika could react, Yuu kissed him on the lips.

Mika’s eyes were wide, he was tempted to kiss him back, he wanted to kiss him back. His eyes almost closed all the way when he stopped himself and pulled away. He sighed annoyed.

“You need to lay down. Get in the barn.”

“Go Yuu.” Mika said seriously.

Yuu looked like he was going to cry, “I just want to be with you.” He looked Mika in the eye, looking and sounding sober all of a sudden. He reached up, moving one of his hands to Mika’s neck and resting the other on his shoulder. He slowly moved his lips to his. Mika didn’t stop him this time. When their lips touched they both felt electricity course through their bodies. Mika put one of his hands on Yuu’s waist and the other on Yuu’s cheek. His kiss was harsh, Yuu could barely keep up. Mika knew it was wrong, he knew he had stop but he was finding it really difficult to do.

I have to stop. I have to pull away or push him away. This shouldn’t be happening. But nothing has ever felt so good, so right. Stop. But I don’t want to. You have to. I know. Mika argued with himself as he felt Yuu tangle his hand in his hair, pulling at it little and moving the hand that he had on his shoulder to wrap it around his neck. I really don’t want to stop. He’s desperately holding on to me, almost like he needs to be with me. A few seconds later he pulled away and let go of Yuu, avoiding eye contact.

“I know you felt that too,” Yuu said a little out of breath.

Mika sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, “That’s not the point Yuu.”

“I like when you do that.”

“Do what?” Mika looked at Yuu, his expression annoyed and confused.

“Run your fingers through your hair. It’s hot,” Yuu smiled.

Mika facepalmed, sighed, and said, “I-I don’t even know what to say to you anymore.”

“Say you’ll have sex with me!” Yuu smiled with excitement on his face, not looking as sober as he had when he kissed Mika. Kimizuki accidentally snorted, trying not to laugh while the others looked shocked again.

Mika blushed and looked pissed. “Go lay down!” he snapped and pushed Yuu toward the barn.

You laughed, “I like when you get rough with me too.”

“Geez you’re no fun,” Yuu pouted.

Yuu started walking toward the barn but suddenly stopped. He decided he wasn’t going to just give up. He ran back and kissed Mika. He wasn’t expecting Mika’s reaction though. He expected Mika to push him away but instead Mika held him and kissed him.

It took Mika by surprise when Yuu ran back to him and kissed him. He liked the way Yuu wrapped his arms around his neck like he was holding on for dear life. Without thinking, he kissed him back. Fuck it, he thought. After a few more seconds his brain started working again. Wait. No. Stop. I have to stop, he told himself. Dammit! The logical part of him won. He took a step back making Yuu lose his balance. They fell to the ground, Yuu on top of Mika.

“Ow…” they both said.

Yuu lifted himself a little just to see Mika’s face. He looked him in the eye and slowly leaned down to kiss him again. In one swift movement Yuu was under him. Mika then moved his lips to Yuu’s neck. Yuu arched his back and breathed heavily. He pulled at Mika’s shirt and Mika took it off, completely lost in the moment. Mika then pressed his knee between Yuu’s legs, making him moan and arch his back again. He started to take his own shirt off when Mika suddenly stopped him. He got off of Yuu, and laid next to him on the ground putting his hands on his head saying, “No, no, no.”

“Why?” Yuu breathed out.

“Because you have a girlfriend, you’re drunk, and judging from what I just did I’m clearly on something too,” he sighed.

After a few seconds Yuu spoke up. “If I stand up, I probably won’t be able to walk, and I probably won’t remember this but, I’m sober ish enough to know that I’m in love with you. I’ve always been in love with you, ever since we were kids.”

“See the fact that you had to add the ‘ish’ after ‘sober’…”

“Shut up. The point is, you’re the most important person in the world to me. I love you. I want to be with you.”

Yuu got up and sat on top of Mika again. Mika could see the lust in Yuu’s eyes.

“You remember that night all those years ago, don’t you?” Yuu asked.

“What night? What are you talking about?”

“It was 2 nights before we tried to escape,” Yuu leaned down to kiss Mika’s neck. “You have to remember.” He moved one of his hands to cover Mika’s eyes. “Close your eyes.”

Mika did as he was told. “You have to remember,” Yuu moved his lips to Mika’s chest.

He interlocked his fingers with Mika’s, placing their hands on either side of Mika’s head.

“Please,” Yuu whispered.

That’s when Mika remembered. His eyes snapped open only to close again a few seconds later. He remembered. He knew exactly what night Yuu was talking about. How could he have forgotten? How was that fucking possible? How in a thousand years could someone forget something like that? Wait. But Yuu hadn’t brought up the subject until now. Did he forget too? Were they both trying to forget it? Or had they been too focused on other things to remember that? No. Mika knew why he’d forgotten. Because it hurt too much to remember. If he thought about that night, about how Yuu used to belong to him and him alone, it would only make him remember that that wasn’t the case anymore. That Yuu wasn’t his anymore. He wondered if Yuu had forgotten because he regretted it, or because he just didn’t care. Or maybe he’d remembered this whole time… Mika didn’t know. Regardless of that, he thought back to that night four years ago.

Chapter Text

“Well, we finished another book,” Mika sighed.

“Yeah. Why do you always pick fairy tales?” Yuu asked annoyed.

“Because why not?”

“Because they’re girly.”

“No they’re not. Besides, Akane brought this one…”

“Don’t act like you didn’t like it.”

“What was your favorite part?”

“I don’t have one.”

“You answered pretty quick for someone who doesn’t have one,” Mika smirked. “Come on Yuu, what’s so wrong about liking a fairy tale?” he continued. “I’ll tell you my favorite part first if you want.”

“Fine,” Yuu sighed.

“Ok! Well my favorite part was when her voice broke the spell Ursula had placed on the prince. But they didn’t kiss in time so Ursula took Ariel down to the sea and Prince Erik went after her. He risked his life for her. I’d do that for you, I’d risk my life for you,” Mika smiled. He noticed that Yuu looked away and blushed when he said that, which made him smirk. “Anyway, your turn.”

Yuu sighed. “Mine was when she gave up her voice for him in the first place. She gave up part of her for him. And I… I’d do that for you.” Yuu turned his head away from Mika.

“Aww! Thanks Yuu! I love you too!”

“I NEVER SAID I LOVED YOU!” Yuu turned back to Mika.

What he wasn’t expecting was to see Mika’s face only inches away from his. Their noses almost touching. Yuu felt his heart start to race. It was pounding against his chest. He looked up into Mika’s eyes and then at his lips.

“Say it,” Mika whispered.

“S-say what?”

“Say it,” Mika whispered again.

“I umm...”

“You what?”

“I... love -”

“Nope,” Mika interrupted. “Start with my name,” he commanded.

“Mika,” Yuu swallowed. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Mika leaned in and pressed his lips on Yuu’s. Yuu kissed him back. Mika then slowly pushed Yuu down so that Yuu was on his back. Yuu moaned into the kiss and Mika pulled away, liking the noise he had just heard Yuu make.

Mika felt Yuu’s lips all over his chest, and he could hear himself breathing, but he wasn’t ready to come back to the present just yet. He was enjoying this way too much to stop now. The feel of Yuu’s lips all over his chest and neck combined with this memory was just irresistible. Snap out of it! I can’t. Yes, you can. Ok I can but I really don’t want to.

“Mika,” Yuu breathed out.

“What are you doing?”

“What does it look like I’m doing?” Mika moved his lips to Yuu’s neck.

“No, well, I just, I mean like…” Yuu blushed, not being able to form a coherent sentence.

“What is it? I love you, you love me, so what’s the problem? I’ll stop if you want me to though.”

Mika slowly pulled Yuu’s shirt off and then his own. He moved his hand down to Yuu's waist. His body felt so warm, while Mika's was always cold for some reason. The contrast in their body temperatures felt amazing. Yuu moaned again and Mika decided that Yuu's moans were the most beautiful sounds he'd ever heard. Yuu lifted his head up enough to place a kiss on Mika’s collar bone. Mika was about to put his lips on Yuu’s again when they suddenly heard the door open downstairs.

Mika gasped, opening his eyes, sitting up, and finally snapping back to reality. He took a moment to process what he had just remembered. He didn’t know what to say or what he was supposed to do.

“You remembered.”

“Yeah, I did. But that doesn’t change anything.”

“Yuu, a memory isn’t just going to magically change the present.”

“Ok, but it can change the future, right?”

“Right. And we can talk about it tomorrow, when you’re sober. Ok?”

“Now go lay down.”

“Ok,” Yuu stood up.

Mika stood up too and watched as Yuu walked into the barn, almost tripping on the way in. He then picked up his shirt and put it back on in less than a second using his vampire speed. He turned to the others, not making eye contact, and not really knowing what to say.

He figured he might as well get this part over with and turned to look Shinoa in the eyes, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have let that happen,” he began. “You probably hate me right now, and I don’t blame you, but for what it’s worth, I really am sorry. It was wrong of me, and I apologize.”

“I don’t hate you.” Shinoa smiled. “You got caught up in the moment, and we all make mistakes.”

Mika understood that she was trying to be nice but he hated the way she phrased it. ‘We all make mistakes?’ Really? He knew he wasn’t exactly in a position to say anything though.

“Right,” he decided to just agree with her. “Sorry again,” he added before walking away.

Kimizuki decided to follow. They sat down closer to the barn this time, but not in front of it. They sat to its right and faced the ocean. They sat in silence for a couple of minutes before Kimizuki broke it.

“So, Mikaela...”

“Mika,” he corrected.

“We’re friends now right? You can call me Mika.”

“Ok,” Kimizuki smiled. “So, Mika, you want to tell me what the hell you were remembering back there? Must have been something interesting for you to space out like that for so long.”

“‘So long?’ How long…?”

“About 10-15 minutes.”

“Seriously!? It felt like 5 minutes at most.”

“Nope. It was a lot longer than 5 minutes.”

“So back to the memory…” he said, obviously curious.

“Right, umm…”

Mika then spent about 5 minutes summarizing and paraphrasing the memory he had been so lost in.

Yuu opened his eyes and was laying down in the barn the next day with a hangover. He saw Shinoa to the right sitting by his legs, Kimizuki right next to him, Yoichi in between them, Mitsuba behind Shinoa, and Narumi standing behind Kimizuki.

“How are you feeling?” asked Shinoa.

“I’m fine,” he answered.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, I’m fine,” he said looking around the room.

“If you’re looking for Mikaela he’s outside," she said.

“I’ll go get him,” said Kimizuki about to stand up.

“No, you don’t have to,” said Yuu.

“Really? I thought he’d be the first one you’d want to see,” said Kimizuki surprised.

“What? Of course not,” Yuu said smiling at Shinoa.

“So is he the last one you want to see?” Kimizuki pushed.

“What? No, ok, I just, I don’t care when I see him,” Yuu answered closing his eyes again and covering them with his arm.

“Ouch,” he heard a familiar voice say, a voice he would recognize anywhere, a voice he had memorized, his favorite voice. He immediately uncovered his eyes and looked toward that beautiful voice. He saw Mika smiling and leaning against the barn door with his arms crossed.

“You know that’s not what I meant,” Yuu smiled.

“I know,” Mika responded still smiling. He walked over to kneel beside Yuu on his left, opposite Shinoa. “So how are you feeling?”

“Terrible,” he sat up. The others noticed how he had told Shinoa he was fine only a few seconds ago and kind of brushed her off. “My head feels… full.”

Mika knocked on Yuu’s head, “Full? You sure about that?” The others smiled along with Mika.

“Oh fuck you,” Yuu pouted. Mika laughed, noticing how cute Yuu looked when he did that. “It’s not funny. My brain hurts.”

“How’s that even possible?” Mika smiled.

“I don’t know but it does.”

“Well that’s what you get for getting drunk! The hell were you thinking?!” Mika asked annoyed now.

“That guy was being a jerk so I wanted to beat him!” Yuu explained.

“Yeah and how’d that work out?”

Yuu sighed, “Sorry.”

Mika sighed in response, “Well whatever, you’ll be fine eventually.”

“Ugh, I feel sick.”

“You look sick too.” Yuu pouted again at what Mika had said, making him smile in response.

“Do you want some water?” Shinoa offered.

“Nah, I don’t think I can keep anything down right now.”

“Ok,” Shinoa put her hand on Yuu’s cheek and gave him a peck on the lips. Mika looked away.

“Hey so did I do anything crazy while I was drunk?”

“Umm,” they all said as if rehearsed.

“Nope, not really,” Shinoa lied.

“Yeah no, you could barely walk,” Mika followed her lead.

“Actually,” Kimizuki spoke. “You called Mika ‘Mi-chan,’ told him you love him multiple times, kissed him even more, and took his shirt off. Oh, also, after one of the kisses, I think it was the second or third or whatever, you said ‘I know you felt that too,’ whatever that means.”

Yuu looked shocked, his mouth hanging open, trying to process what he'd just heard, and his cheeks almost as red as Mika’s eyes. He looked at Shinoa and then at Mika.

“Well there’s that,” Mika gave an innocent smile.

“I don’t remember that…”

“Well why would you? You were pretty buzzed,” Mika said.

“Oh,” Narumi started. “You also said that he’s hot and that you want to kiss him every time you look at him.”

“Don’t forget about how he said he liked it when Mika got rough and said he wanted to have sex with him,” added Kimizuki as nonchalant as Narumi.

“Oh yeah that too,” confirmed Narumi.

“WHAT!?” Yuu yelled.

“Guys!” Shinoa looked at Kimizuki and Narumi.

Yuu looked at her and then at Mika. “Did we…? Oh my God, was I top or bottom? I was top right!?”

“Relax Yuu,” Mika laughed. “We didn't do anything! And if we did, I think we both know I’d be topsies.”

“What!? Would not!”

“Yuu,” said Shinoa.

“Oh. Right. Sorry. Not the point,” he turns to face her again. “Shinoa, I’m sorry, I didn’t know what I was saying.”

Mika’s expression changed. He looked away. He felt like his heart shattered into a million pieces. I knew it, he thought. Exactly. You knew it, so this shouldn’t come as a shock. I know but it still hurts to hear him say it out loud.

“It’s alright,” she smiled.

“So, what did happen yesterday? You know, if it’s true that I tried to… with Mika,” he asked looking down.

“Mikaela pushed you away,” said Shinoa before Mika had the chance to speak.

“What do you mean ‘why’!?” Mika yelled annoyed.

“N-No nothing,” Yuu smiled nervously. He remembered the others didn’t know about how Mika felt about him.

“Anyway, I’m hungry. Anyone else?” asked Kimizuki. The others agreed.

“You guys go, I feel too sick to eat anything right now.”

“I’ll stay with you,” Shinoa offered.

“No, you need to eat. I’ll be fine. Mika can stay with me, right?”

“Oh, uh, yeah, sure,” Mika smiled.

Shinoa sighed. “Ok,” she reluctantly agreed. She gave Yuu a kiss on the lips before walking away.

Mika looked away again, every time she did that, it felt like he was being stabbed right through the heart. It hurt more than actually being stabbed. He tried not to think about it though.

“Sorry,” Yuu said.

“Don’t apologize,” Mika smiled.

“So did I really do all that stuff?”

“Yeah,” Mika chuckled. “I’m flattered,” he smirked.

Yuu blushed. “Shut up. Anyway, um, now that the others are gone, why didn’t you, you know, with me?”

“Because you were drunk and I thought you knew me better than to ask that,” Mika said angrily.

“Sorry. I was just worried that you didn’t feel that way anymore.”

“You said ‘worried’”

“I did?”

“Oh,” Yuu looked away blushing like he had just said something really embarrassing. Mika decided not to push.

“Anyway, um,” Mika wasn’t sure how to ask Yuu about the memory. “So, uh, there’s something else that Kimizuki and the other one with the giant fork-”

“Narumi,” Yuu laughed.

“Yeah that one,” Mika smiled. “So, there’s something else that they didn’t mention.”

“What is it?”

“Well… there was a night 4 years ago that I’d forgotten about, for certain reasons, and you reminded me yesterday in front of everyone.”

“What night?” Yuu asked confused.

“Do you remember anything about the night two nights before we tried to escape?”

“Um not really, why? Should I?”

“Think hard Yuu.” Mika thought about doing what Yuu had done to make him remember but then decided against it, Yuu was still with Shinoa and it'd be wrong, plus he was afraid of Yuu's reaction now that he was sober.

“I don’t remember, sorry.”

“You talked to me about it just yesterday.” Yuu looked frustrated. “It was late and we were inside alone, reading,” Mika tried.

“Oh! Yeah we were reading The Little Mermaid.”

“Exactly. Now do you remember what happened after we finished the book?”

“Um, no I don-” Yuu stopped midsentence. “Oh,” he blushed and looked up at Mika.

“Well… there was a night 4 years ago that I’d forgotten about, for certain reasons, and you reminded me yesterday in front of everyone.”

“OH! Yeah we were reading The Little Mermaid.”

“Exactly. Now do you remember what happened after we finished the book?” he pushed.

“Um, no I don-” Yuu stopped midsentence. “Oh,” he blushed and looked up at Mika. “Yeah no, I, uh, I remember now,” he looked away.

There was an awkward silence between them. Mika didn’t know what to say. He wasn’t sure why he’d even told Yuu to begin with. He could’ve kept quiet and pretended it never happened. Yeah, that was probably a better way to go. Too late now though.

“I really talked about that in front of everyone?” Yuu asked, snapping Mika back to reality.

“Huh? Oh, yeah,” Mika said. “Well sort of,” he corrected.

“Sort of?”

“Yeah. You only used the term ‘that night’ to describe it, so none of them know what happened.”

“Well that’s good.”

“Actually, never mind. I um, I kind of told Kimizuki…”

“What!? Why!?”

“Well he asked, and I don’t know I guess I wanted to talk to someone about it? I didn’t give him details though. I just summarized.”

Yuu sighed.

“Shi-She’s probably going to ask you about it later,” Mika pointed out. He couldn’t say her name, he tried but he just couldn’t, especially not after her whole ‘We all make mistakes’ line.

“Shinoa?” Yuu smiled.

“Sorry,” Mika gave him a sheepish smile. He felt bad for avoiding her name.

“It’s ok,” Yuu smiled. He then sighed, “But yeah I’m pretty sure she will.”

“So, what are you going to say?”

“I don’t know. I mean I can’t tell her the truth but I can’t lie or say it’s a secret either.”

“Actually, you might have to tell her the truth.”

“What? Why?”

“Oh my God, don’t tell me there’s more.”

“I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t.”

“Ugh. Ok what else did I do?”

“Ok, well this one isn’t just you and technically it’s part of the same incident… See when you mentioned that night… you uh,” Mika looked away not really sure how to say it. He figured it was best to just hurry through it, like ripping off a band-aid. He took a deep breath, looked Yuu in the eye and said, “You got on top of me and I got lost in the moment and switched our position so that I was on top, you then motioned for me to take my shirt off and I did. Then I kissed your neck, pressed my knee against your, you know,” Mika motioned with his head where exactly he was talking about without stopping to take a breath between words. “And you moaned and you were about to take your shirt off when I stopped you. Then you gave this small speech about how you were ‘sober ish’ enough to know that you’re in love with me and have been since we were kids. Then you got on top of me again and kissed my neck, my chest, and my stomach, placed your hand over my eyes, not exactly in that order, and told me to close them and remember, and I did. I closed my eyes and remembered.” Mika was out of breath by the time he finished. “Sorry,” he breathed.

Yuu’s eyes were wide and his mouth hanging open. He couldn’t believe what he’d just heard Mika say. He knew that the proper thing was to be upset but he wasn’t. Well he was, but it wasn’t for the reason he should be, and he knew that. He was upset that he didn’t remember. He should be upset that he did that and that Mika let it go on for as long as he did, but he wasn’t. He was pissed at himself for forgetting it. For forgetting the taste of Mika’s body, the taste of his lips. He had to remember it, he had to know. He looked over at Mika who was looking down at the ground. He scooted over to him.

Mika looked up and Yuu immediately pressed his lips against his. Mika was shocked. It was one thing for Yuu to kiss him drunk, but a completely different thing for him to do it sober. He froze. He wanted to kiss him but he couldn’t move. His brain wasn’t working properly. All he knew was that Yuu was kissing him and that he felt like electricity was coursing through his body. If his heart could beat it'd be going 100 miles a minute and pounding against his chest like it was going to burst out at any moment.

Yuu pulled away. He couldn’t believe he’d just done that, sober. He let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. Kissing Mika felt…right. He saw the shock on Mika’s face and felt himself blush.

“Sorry. I just, I wanted to remember what it felt like to kiss you.”

“Oh.” Mika didn’t know what to say to that.

“It felt right,” Yuu said. It came out softer than he’d meant it to, like a whisper.

“It felt right to kiss you.” Yuu wrapped his arms around Mika’s neck. “It feels right to be with you.” Yuu moved his face closer to Mika’s, their foreheads touching.

They could feel each other’s breath on their lips. Mika closed the distance between their lips. He put his hands on Yuu’s waist and abruptly pulled him closer. Yuu’s breath hitched and he tangled one of his hands in Mika’s hair. Mika suddenly pulled away.

“Mika?” Yuu asked a little out of breath.

“We can’t.”

“At least not while… while you’re with her.”

“Oh. Right.” Yuu let go and scooted back. There was a small pause before he spoke. “I want to be with you.” Mika looked at him. “You’re the one I love. You’re the one I want to be with. I’m going to break up with Shinoa. I don’t want to hurt her but I can’t be with her either.”

As happy as Mika was to hear Yuu say that he loved him, he couldn’t help but feel guilty. He probably wasn’t going to be able to look her in the eye and he really wouldn’t blame her if she ended up hating him.

“Hey, Mika?”

“Um, earlier you said that you’d forgotten about that night ‘for certain reasons.’ What did you mean?”

Dammit! Mika knew he fucked up the moment he said that but was hoping that Yuu wouldn’t notice. He didn’t want to admit to Yuu what his reasons were.

“I meant exactly what I said. We should go, you need some fresh air,” he tried to avoid the subject.

“Not until you tell me what those reasons are.” He could see that Mika was uncomfortable. “Come on Mika.” He then saw the blush appearing on Mika’s cheeks. “If you don’t want to tell me because you think it’s embarrassing, need I remind you of everything I did yesterday?”

Mika sighed, “Fine.” He knew Yuu wasn’t going to let this go se he might as well tell him. “I forgot about it because if I thought about it, it would just remind me of how much things have changed.” Mika looked down avoiding eye contact, “It would remind me that you weren’t mine anymore.” He paused and looked back up at Yuu. “When we were kids,” he decided to continue. “I was your best friend but at the same time I was more than that. There was a night that I never told you about. I woke up that night because you were talking in your sleep. You said my name a few times, which surprised me. What surprised me even more though, was what you said after the fifth - yes, I counted - time you said my name. You said, ‘I’m yours.’” Mika looked at Yuu who was shocked. His face almost as red as Mika’s eyes. Mika found it pretty adorable. “You have no idea how happy I felt,” Mika admitted trying to lessen Yuu’s embarrassment.

“I-I said that?” Yuu’s voice cracked at the end. He couldn’t believe he’d done that and that Mika never told him about it. It was just one unbelievable thing after another today.

“Yeah. That’s why I didn’t want to remember that night. All it would do was remind me that you weren’t mine anymore.”

Yuu could see Mika begin to blush again. Mika was looking down avoiding eye contact again. As embarrassing as it was to say, Yuu decided Mika needed to hear his truth.

“I am,” he managed to say.

“What?” Mika looked at him.

“I am yours Mika,” Yuu stated nervously.

He could see Mika’s eyes widen. He could also see that Mika was having a hard time believing him. He got closer and held Mika’s face in his hands.

“Mikaela,” he started. “I. Am. Yours. I belong to you.”

Mika took a second to process what Yuu had just said. Yuu felt his heart speed up again. “Good,” he smiled and kissed Yuu one more time. Yuu smiled into the kiss. Mika smiled too and pulled away.

“We should go. You should…”

“Right,” Yuu sighed. He wasn’t looking forward to the conversation with Shinoa.

“Can you stand?” Mika asked standing up.

“Yeah,” he stood up. “Ow.”

“What is it? Are you ok?”

“My head feels like it’s going to explode and I’m dizzy.”

“Here,” Mika put Yuu’s arm around his neck to steady him. They walked and the others saw Yuu almost trip.

“Need help?” offered Kimizuki.

“Nah I got him.” Mika took Yuu to the others and sat him down. “Well I’m going to go sit over there.”

“I’ll go with you,” Kimizuki said before Yuu could talk.

Mika and Kimizuki walked over to where Mika sat the first time Mika had admitted his feelings for Yuu. They sat down and Mika laid down closing his eyes.

“So? How’d it go?”

“He uh, he said he loves me and that he’s going to break up with Shinoa.”

“I knew it.” He looked at Mika and saw that he looked troubled. “So why aren’t you smiling?”

Mika sighed and sat up. “Well I mean I’m happy that Yuu said he’s in love with me. More than happy, I’m thrilled to be honest, but…”

“But I feel bad because-”

“If this is about Shinoa, there’s nothing you should feel bad about. Yuu was never in love with Shinoa or even saw her in that way, you just helped him realize it.”

“Thanks,” Mika smiled.

“Plus, after yesterday I really don’t think she’ll be surprised,” Kimizuki smiled back.

Yuu finished eating with Shinoa, Mitsuba, Yoichi, and Narumi. It was pretty awkward, no one knew what to say. After all that happened yesterday Yuu couldn’t really blame them. He had eaten slowly, trying to put off the conversation he had to have with Shinoa. He knew he couldn’t put it off any longer though.

“Hey, Shinoa?”

“Can we talk?”

Yuu stood up and offered her his hand. Once she was up Yuu immediately let go. He wasn’t sure how to do this.

“Can we take a walk?”

“Yeah, sure.”

They got far enough away so that the others couldn’t hear before Yuu spoke. “So, um. Shinoa, I um-”

“You’re breaking up with me,” she stated. She didn’t look angry though. Just a little disappointed.

Yuu didn’t know what to say again. “Yeah, I’m really sorry. I just-”

“It’s ok Yuu,” she smiled. “After yesterday I figured it was just a matter of time.”

“You’re not angry?”

“No,” she smiled but Yuu could see the hurt in her eyes.

“Shinoa, I really-” Yuu stopped midsentence and turned around.

At the same time Mika stood up from where he and Kimizuki were sitting. He turned and faced the same direction Yuu was facing.

“Yuu, what’s wrong?” Shinoa asked worried.

“Mika? What is it?” Kimizuki asked standing up.

“Someone’s coming,” they both answer.

Chapter Text

"Someone's coming," Mika and Yuu both answer.

"How do you know?" asked Shinoa.

"I can hear it. Sounds like a car," Yuu responded.

"And it's coming fast," Mika added. He and Kimizuki were having the same conversation Yuu and Shinoa were.

"Come on," Mika said to Kimizuki and started walking toward Yuu.

"Yuu," Mika began. "Someone's coming."

"I know."

"What? How?" asked Kimizuki. Mika wondered the same.

"I can hear it."

"You can? How?" asked Kimizuki again.

"I don't know, can't you?"

"No Yuu," Mika responded. "Humans shouldn't be able to hear it."

"Oh. Well I guess that means I'm getting stronger," Yuu smiled.

"No Yuu. It's not a good thing. It means you're losing more of your humanity," Mika pointed out.

"But you can hear the sound too," Yuu said, not even surprised at what Mika had said.

"I'M NOT HUMAN!" Mika yelled, irritated now.

"How is Mika not the main character?" mumbled Kimizuki.

"Huh?" Mika, Yuu, and Shinoa asked.

"No, nothing. Anyway, so whatever or whoever is coming, is it or are they a friend or an enemy?"

"Not sure," Mika answered. "I just know it's a car."

"And by how fast it's going I'm pretty sure it's speeding. I can't imagine a speed limit sign saying this is okay," Yuu pointed out.

Kimizuki sighed and facepalmed. Shinoa gave a nervous smile and Mika just stared at Yuu. He looked at him wondering why he was in love with him and at this point started contemplating all his life decisions.

"Right... Anyway-" Mika began.

"Hey I can hear it now too," Kimizuki interrupted.

"Yeah, it's getting closer," Shinoa added. "Guys!" she called to the others. "Get your weapons ready!"

The others looked confused but did as they were told. They rushed over to her, Mika, Yuu, and Kimizuki who had also gotten their weapons ready. They stood ready to fight.

"Wait, I can see them now. Well him actually," Mika said.

"Who?" asked Yuu.

"Lord Crowley," he stated.

Chapter Text

“Lord Crowley,” he stated.

A minute later they see a sports car pull up and stop a few feet away from them. Shinoa and the others were scared. They remembered the last time they fought him and it didn’t go well. Narumi had never fought him but he could tell he was powerful. Mika was more afraid he’d hurt Yuu than himself. He knew Ferid would be pissed if Crowley hurt him. He didn’t understand why Ferid protected him and let him get away with insulting him and attacking him all the time. Mika knew that if it was another vampire Ferid would’ve killed them without a second thought. But whatever, he didn’t care why. He was just thankful, but annoyed at the same time, though a little more annoyed than thankful.

“Hey there!” Lord Crowley smiled getting out of the car.

“What do you want Lord Crowley?”

“Oh Mika! Hey, I was wondering where you went. Ferid was worried too you know,” he laughed.

“Well now you know, and I don’t care. What are you doing here?”

“Well I don’t know if you know or not, but he was taken by the vampires in the battle four months ago. They found out he and Queen Krul were part of the Seraph experiments and that they let you and Yuuichiro live.”

“Ok and…?” Yuu asked.

“Well I thought you’d want to help him.”

“Why on earth would we want to do that?” Kimizuki asked.

“Yeah, why would we want to rescue that?” Mika added.

“Geez Mika, he’s so nice to you and protects you, why do you hate him so much?” Lord Crowley smiled.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” It was the first time the others had heard Mika cuss like that, so casually. He also changed his defensive position, putting his sword away and crossing his arms across his chest. The others changed their position too, no longer defensive but not putting their weapons away either.

“Yeah, I am,” Lord Crowley laughed. “Anyway, Ferid knows how to bring everyone who died because of the apocalypse back to life. Thought you’d be interested.”

“What?” they all asked shocked. Mika didn’t seem to believe him though.

“Yup. You want to restore humanity, don’t you? Well Ferid is key for that. Ferid knows a lot about a lot of things,” they noticed Crowley glanced at Mika for a split second when he said that. Mika noticed too and seemed weary. He wondered what he meant by that. “If you want to save the world and bring back those you lost to the apocalypse then you need Ferid.”

“How do we know you’re not lying?” asked Yuu.

“Well… I guess you don’t. But isn’t it worth the risk?”

“No Yuu,” Mika said.

“You can’t actually be buying into this.”

“Well, he’s right Mika.”

“You don’t know that.”

“No, I meant that it’s worth the risk.”

“I disagree.”

“Come on Mika,” Yuu pleaded.

“Yeah hi,” Narumi interrupted. “Don’t you think we should be included in this conversation?”

“Not really,” said Mika.

“Oh yeah,” said Yuu at the same time as Mika.

“The fuck do you mean ‘not really’ you brat?” yelled Narumi.

“Well you can do whatever you want, I’m only saying no to Yuu. And suggesting it to Kimizuki.”

“I really don’t like you.”

“I really don’t care,” Mika turned back to Yuu. Pissing off Narumi even more. The way Mika spoke matter-of-factly to Narumi was very entertaining to the others, they looked like they wanted to laugh but held it in. “Anyway,” Mika continued. “Yuu, come on.”

“Mika don’t you think it’s worth it to restore humanity?” Yuu asked.

“I don’t think you want me to answer that.”

Yuu sighed. “It’s fine, I already know the answer.”

“It’s fine. But… why?”

“You haven’t seen what I have Yuu.”

“Hey, uh don’t you think this is a conversation for another time?” asked Lord Crowley.

“Oh, right,” said Yuu. “Well what do you guys think?”

“I don’t know,” said Shinoa. “It’s a big risk,” she glanced at Lord Crowley who smiled innocently at her.

“I say we go for it,” said Narumi. Mika rolled his eyes. “What?” he asked clearly still pissed at Mika.

“Nothing,” Mika sighed.

“No, come on say it.”

“I. Don’t. Want. To.” He figured it wasn’t worth it.

“I thought so.”

“Thought what?”

“You do realize I can easily kill you right?”

“Yeah right, you sorry excuse for a vampire.”

Mika looked like he was about ready to attack, when Lord Crowley and Yuu spoke simultaneously.

“Come on Mika, just ignore him,” Yuu said trying to calm Mika down.

“I wouldn’t say that if I were you,” Lord Crowley said to Narumi.

“Why?” asked Narumi. They all looked at Lord Crowley.

“When was the last time you saw him fight?”

“At the battle four months ago. All we’ve had to fight since then are Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and they’re easy to kill so we usually take care of it,” answered Kimizuki.

“And I’m guessing you’ve been drinking human blood since then?” he asked Mika.

“Then you’ve gotten stronger, depending on how much blood you’ve had. You’ve been a vampire for a little over four years and you went all that time without drinking human blood, making you only a little stronger than a normal vampire because you were turned by a progenitor but not as strong as a noble. Not as strong as you should be,” there seemed to be a double meaning when he said that but they decided not to question it. “Queen Krul’s blood was enough for you to survive but it didn’t help you reach your strength. If you keep drinking human blood you’ll be more powerful than any other noble because you were created by a third progenitor. The Queen herself. Now that you’ve started drinking human blood though, you’re at least a little more powerful than you were four months ago.”

Everyone looked shocked. They knew Mika was strong, especially after that time he fought the entire Moon Demon Company to get to Yuu, and all while avoiding killing anyone too. It was a little hard to believe he could be that much stronger, then again, they hadn’t really given it much thought. They hadn’t even realized Mika was a noble until now. He hadn’t mentioned it. He either hadn’t realized either or he just didn’t care enough to say anything. They knew Mika was smart though, they’d noticed in the last four months, so they figured it was the latter.

“It’s not really worth it,” he said to everyone’s surprise.

“What?” asked Lord Crowley confused. The others were too.

“I don’t like drinking human blood. It tastes good, depending on the person, and it quenches my thirst, but-”

“It’s morally wrong?” asked Lord Crowley mockingly.

“Yes, basically,” Mika responded seriously, not bothered by Lord Crowley’s tone.

“What if I were to attack you right now? Wouldn’t you want to be strong enough to defend yourself from me?”

“You wouldn’t.”

“Really?” Lord Crowley ran toward him.

“Mika!” Yuu yelled, but he couldn’t move fast enough. Mika didn’t move an inch. Lord Crowley put his sword right at Mika’s neck.

“You’ve gotten pretty cocky Mika. What? Do you think you’re indestructible?” Lord Crowley narrowed his eyes but smiled.

“Of course not. I just know I don’t have to defend myself from you. I know you won’t hurt me.”

“And why do you think that?”

Mika gave a cocky smile. They’d never seen him smile like that, not even Yuu. “Because Ferid would cut your head off.” It sounded more like a threat than a statement.

Lord Crowley put his sword in its sheath. He took a step back. He was surprised too. Ferid had told him that Mika had smiled like this with him a couple of times but he’d never seen it. He said it was “adorable,” but “terrifying” at the same time. Lord Crowley didn’t see the “adorable” part but understood the “terrifying” part. He knew that if Mika discovered just how powerful he really was that he could easily kill him and Ferid himself. Yuu and the others were surprised to see that smile too. It was strange how scared they felt. Still, the smile looked perfect, beautiful even. It was kind of like a predator enjoying the terror on his prays face.

Mika took a step toward Lord Crowley, who in response took another step back while hiding his fear, though Mika could still see it in his eyes. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure Ferid doesn’t hate you, in fact he respects you, but if it came down to it, who do you think he’ll protect?”

“You’re right,” Lord Crowley decided not to push him. “Now. Back to our original conversation,” he turned to the others. “What do you say?”

The others all looked at Yuu. They would’ve told Yuu what they thought but they were pretty sure the only answer that would really matter to Yuu would come from Mika. Yuu turned to look at Mika, asking what he thought without saying anything. Mika knew what Yuu wanted to do, he hated it but he knew it wasn’t any use to argue either. Mika sighed annoyed.

“Fine,” he said turning to Lord Crowley. “We’ll do it.”

“Great,” he smiled.

But,” Mika continued. “We have to save Krul too.”

Chapter Text

But,” Mika continued. “We have to save Krul too.”

“Alright then, what now?” asked Kimizuki.

“Well we’re not going to be able to do it with just us,” Lord Crowley answered.

“So…?” Narumi pushed.

“So we have to wait for a couple of friends.”

“Friends?” Shinoa questioned.

“That’s all Ferid told me. To wait at his mansion for them. They’ll be arriving separately too. One of them will bring some people with him and another is coming from far away so we might have to wait a couple more days but we won’t have a chance of winning without that friend.”

“So, we’re supposed to just wait?” asked Narumi.

“Yeah basically,” Lord Crowley smiled.

“Are you serious?” he almost yelled.

“What? You got something better to do?” Mika asked.

“Do you practice how to be a jackass or does it come naturally?” Narumi responded.

“It was a fair question. You always so defensive?”

“But to answer your other question,” Lord Crowley began. “It comes naturally,” he smiled teasing Mika.

“Yup,” Mika agreed as if he was stating a fact.

Lord Crowley, Kimizuki, and Yuu laughed. The others, except Narumi, smiled. “Anyway, we should get going,” Lord Crowley pointed out.

“We can’t all fit there,” Mitsuba pointed to the car.

“Oh. I hadn’t thought od that but this was the only car I could get.”

“We can leave this one,” Mika pointed to Narumi.

“What?!” Narumi yelled. “You brat!”

“Nah we’ll need as many fighters as we can get, even if they’re weak like him,” Lord Crowley responded.

“What!?” Narumi yelled again.

Kimizuki snickered and the others tried very hard not to laugh at how matter-of-factly Mika and Lord Crowley were speaking.

“Well,” Lord Crowley continued. “I guess someone will have to sit on someone’s lap.”

“Or someone can just sit on the roof,” Mika suggested.

“Alright then. Who wants the roof?”

“There’ll still be an extra person,” Yoichi noticed.

“Mika and I can ride on the roof,” Yuu offered.

“Alright,” Lord Crowley sighed. “But make sure the roof is the only thing you ride until we get there,” he smirked.

Mika tried not to laugh but Kimizuki couldn’t help himself. Mitsuba smiled, and for the first time in a while, Narumi looked like he wanted to do so too. Yoichi looked confused, not understanding what Lord Crowley meant. Shinoa didn’t react. Yuu’s face became as red as Mika’s eyes.

“What-” Yuu began to yell.

“It’s ok, come on Yuu,” Mika interrupted smiling and dragging him by the hand toward the car. “Let’s go.”

Chapter Text

“Let’s go.”

“Fine,” Yuu answered pouting.

They all walked to the car Lord Crowley had brought, Mika and Yuu climbing on to the roof. They sat quietly until they felt the car move. They felt a little awkward after everything that had just happened. After they kissed, after what Lord Crowley had said. Mika wasn’t sure what he should say and Yuu couldn’t get Mika’s smile out of his head. That terrifying, yet beautiful, smile he had seen. He wasn’t sure what to make of it.

“Hey, Mika,” he began.

“About earlier… Um, when you threatened Lord Crowley-”

“What? When did I threaten Lord Crowley?” Mika asked genuinely curious.

“When you told him Lord Ferid would kill him if he hurt you.”

“That wasn’t a threat, so much as it was a fact. A fact we both knew.”

“So you were just restating a fact?”

“No, I was reminding him.”

“Ok, well anyway… you smiled…”

“Yeah… because he can’t hurt me, excuse me for being happy about that,” Mika said. He didn’t sound defensive though, more like it should be something obvious.

“No, yeah, I get it…”

“It doesn’t seem like you do.”

“It’s just the way you smiled.”

“The ‘way’ I smiled? What’s that supposed to mean?”

“It’s just… it was kind of…”

“Kind of what? Yuu.”

“Scary, Mika. Well, more like terrifying actually.”

“What do you mean?” It was an empty question. Mika knew what he was talking about. He remembered it. He didn’t mean to smile like that at the moment, he just did it.

“I don’t know how to describe it, but it terrified everyone. Well, everyone except Lord Crowley.”

“Everyone? What, did you take a poll while I wasn’t looking?” Mika was trying to deny it, but he knew Yuu was right. For the most part anyway. He was wrong about Lord Crowley not being scared. Mika remembered the terror he saw in Lord Crowley’s eyes, though his face was composed there was no hiding the fear in his eyes. He would never admit it but just remembering it made him happy. Even turned him on a little, not Lord Crowley, just the feeling of seeing someone be so afraid because of him. Knowing that he was the cause of the terror he saw. Suddenly he wanted to touch Yuu. No, not touch him, more like push him down. Pin him down on the roof of the car and kiss him all over. He wanted to hear Yuu scream his name and see him in tears. All of this scared him, he hated the thought of Yuu being hurt, yet, there he was, fantasizing about doing it. It was different though, he wanted to hurt Yuu in a good way, a way that would be so painful it’d be pleasurable, a pain that would have Yuu in tears but begging for more all the while, but that was impossible. Yuu wouldn’t like that… would he?

“No, but-”

“Are you afraid of me?”

“No,” Yuu avoided eye contact.

“You’re not looking me in the eye Yuu.”

Yuu looked up and kissed him on the lips slowly. He wrapped his arms around Mika’s neck and climbed onto his lap. Mika put his hands on Yuu’s waist. He tightened his grip and Yuu moaned. Mika was pretty sure he was leaving bruises but he liked the idea. Yuu pulled away.

“I am scared of you,” Yuu stated and looked Mika in the eye. “But,” he continued. “I think it’s in a good way, because no matter how much that smile scared me, I can’t seem to stay away from you. Or maybe that’s bad, I don’t know,” he sighed. “What does that say about me?”

“I don’t know,” Mika paused. “I guess the same thing it says about me.”

“What do you mean?”

Mika paused for a minute before answering. “You were wrong about Lord Crowley. He was scared, his face was composed but I saw the fear in his eyes, and I liked it…”

“You did?”

“So, Lord Crowley…?”

“No. It wasn’t him. It was knowing that I was the cause of that fear. I can’t explain it, but I liked knowing that I could make someone be so afraid that no matter how much they try, they can’t hide that fear. Sorry.”

“Do you ever… think of me? Being afraid of you?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, like right now. I’m pretty sure you’re leaving bruises on my waist, it hurts…but I like it. Not just the pain, the idea of you leaving bruises too, and I’m wondering how else you can hurt me. How and where else you can leave bruises on my body.” Yuu kissed Mika between sentences. His voice barely a whisper. His breath became heavier. He kissed Mika with more passion than ever. Mika could tell Yuu was turned on. If he was being honest he was turned on too. He pushed Yuu down so that he was laying on his back and positioned himself on top of him. He moved his hands from Yuu’s waist to his wrists. He pinned Yuu’s hands above his head, and kissed him.

“That’s called being a masochist, Yuu,” Mika teased.

“If I’m a masochist Mika, you’re a sadist,” Yuu teased back.

“Yeah I guess I am.”

“Well then we’re perfect together.”

“Made for each other.”

“I was born to be with you.”

“I was born to love you.”

“Hey, can you guys hear them too or is it just me?” Lord Crowley asked everyone in the car.

“I don’t hear anything,” Shinoa answered.

“I don’t either,” Kimizuki replied.

The others agreed, they couldn’t hear anything.

“Huh. Alright it’s just me then. Vampire hearing, I guess,” Lord Crowley seemed almost disappointed. “You know, it’s always interesting what you find out about people when they don’t know you’re listening. Like for example, just now-”

“I have vampire hearing too!” yelled Mika. They all heard that.

Lord Crowley laughed, “Alright, alright. I won’t say anything.”

Chapter Text

“I totally forgot he could hear us,” Yuu sighed.

“Me too. Guess we’ll have to put a pause on this,” Mika said as he kissed Yuu again.

“Mm,” Yuu hummed into the kiss.

“You know,” Mika kissed Yuu harder now. “I’m starting to not care.”

“Same here.” Yuu liked the feeling of Mika’s body against his. If he were being honest, he liked the idea of being heard, being watched. He would never admit it though.

Mika moved his hand from Yuu’s down to his waist. He slid his hand under Yuu’s shirt, feeling the softness of Yuu’s skin that always seemed to be considerably warmer than Mika’s. Yuu shivered, both from the coldness of Mika’s hand and the pleasure he was feeling.

“Sorry,” Mika breathed removing his hand.

“No! No, don’t be,” Yuu held Mika’s hand in place and kissed him again.

He moved his hand to tangle it in Mika’s hair, kissing him harder. Yuu’s breath hitched and he could tell that Mika was having as hard a time breathing as he was. His heart beat fast and he wondered if Mika’s did too.

Mika moved his lips to Yuu’s neck now, enjoying every inch of his skin and loving the taste of Yuu’s body on his lips. Yuu moaned and Mika decided that was his favorite sound.

“Hey guys!” Lord Crowley yelled. “You might not care about being heard but I sure as hell care about what I hear, and I really don’t need to hear that! What did I tell you about the car being the only thing you ride?”

Yuu and Mika sighed simultaneously. Mika secretly thanking Lord Crowley though, if he hadn’t said anything, he wouldn’t have been able to stop himself. There were things he knew he needed to tell Yuu before they went any further. Secrets. Dark secrets. Secrets that were only fair for Yuu to know.

“How long have we been driving?” Yuu sighed.

“Almost two hours,” Mika answered.

They’d been laying on the roof of the car in a peaceful and comfortable silence for over an hour now. No one inside the car had said anything in a while either. He sat up, seeming to recognize his surroundings.

“Something wrong?” Yuu sat up after him.

“No, but we’re almost there.”

“How do you know?”

“I recognize some of these trees.”

“You do? How?” Yuu asked surprised. “They’re trees, they all look the same. Plus it’s pretty dark now,” he noted.

“I’m a vampire. My vision’s just as good at night as it is during the day. Also, they’re not all the same. You just don’t notice detail like I do.”

“Because I’m not a vampire?”

“Because you weren’t raised by two psychopaths who want you to be that one perfect character in a movie or television show,” Mika clarified annoyed.

“What do you mean? Your parents-”

“I’m not talking about my biological parents,” Mika interrupted Yuu. “I’m talking about Krul and Ferid. You have no idea what they put me through. You know there isn’t one musical instrument I can’t play? Also, they made me study every. Single. Fricking. Day. I’m fluent in English, Russian, Italian, French, Spanish, and Korean. Wait, I’m missing one. Wait, no I’m not. Am I…? Whatever. I can do Harvard level math, among other subjects.”

“Wow. They really made you learn all of that stuff?” Yuu was surprised but at the same time he wasn’t. He was surprised Queen Krul and Lord Ferid had made him learn all of that but he wasn’t surprised Mika could actually do that. Learning six or seven languages in four years… Even if someone studied every day like Mika said, it shouldn’t be possible for someone to do that.

“Yup,” Mika answered annoyed.

“But what does that have to do with noticing detail?”

“Right. Well, they made me take an IQ test, a real one. Turns out I have an IQ of 157. When-”

“What!? 157?! Seriously!?” Yuu interrupted Mika. ‘Wait,’ he thought. ‘Why am I even surprised?’ Yuu felt his self-esteem plummet. Of course, Mika’s looks weren’t the only things about him that were above average. Like what did he expect? Life was really unfair sometimes.

“Yup. When they saw the results, their eyes lit up. I was actually proud of myself at that moment.”

Yuu saw Mika blush slightly and smiled.

“As much as I hate Ferid, and as much as I resent Krul for turning me into a vampire,” Mika continued. “At that moment, I felt happy. Proud.”

Yuu noticed Mika avoid eye contact. “If I were you, I would too,” he reassured Mika.

Mika smiled, meeting Yuu’s eyes now. “Anyway,” he sighed. His mood suddenly seemed to change. “After that they didn’t give me a break. Making me learn this and that. Practice this, study that. I only got breaks when I traveled with Ferid,” he sighed.

“Wow.” Yuu suddenly appreciated that all he was forced to do was attend school. “At least you got to travel though. See new places,” he looked at the bright side.

“Yeah, but it wasn’t as fun as it sounds. The first few times I traveled with Ferid I went with him to where they did Seraph experiments.”

“Seraph experiments?” Yuu looked shocked.

“Yeah, they’re all over the world Yuu. Not just here in Japan.”

“I had no idea.”

“Yeah, well, I’m glad you didn’t. They were horrible. Humans are cruel. The way they treat their own kind is disgusting. They have no mercy. As long as they get what they want it doesn’t matter to them who they hurt. The fourth time I went with him I just couldn’t take it. I saw a child being tortured for the experiment to the point where he begged for death. A child Yuu, actually begging for death. When he did, I looked around the room. No one reacted. They didn’t care. They had no compassion. No humanity. It actually made me question why I wanted to be human again. I lost all my faith in humanity.”

Yuu didn’t know what to say. He had no idea things like this happened. It disgusted him, and it hurt him to know that Mika had seen this. “Mika…” was all he could say. It was almost a whisper.

“Ferid looked at me, and I actually saw understanding in his eyes. He came close and whispered to me, told me it was ok if I wanted to leave. I didn’t want to leave though. I wanted to help that boy, but I knew that I couldn’t. So, I left anyway. I hated myself at that moment. I walked around for a while just thinking about that boy. I saw in his eyes that all he knew was pain. That he wondered if it would ever end, and I know what that’s like. I know what it’s like to suffer without end in sight.”

“How?” Yuu whispered. He didn’t like it. He hated the idea of Mika in pain.

“I-” The car came to a stop. “We’re here,” Mika said.

Chapter Text

“We’re here,” Mika said.

Yuu looked around in awe of what he saw. When Lord Crowley and Mika had said mansion, they really meant mansion. The place was huge.

“Looks like a castle doesn’t it?” Mika read Yuu’s mind. Yuu nodded. “It’s a Victorian mansion,” Mika informed him.

There was a garden outside with lots of flowers and a few scattered trees. The grass and trees a bright green even in the dark. The flowers also glowed with lots of different colors. In the middle of it all was a very large fountain. It was a rectangular shape, just like the cement ground around it. In the middle was a sculpture of an angel with different size poles surrounding it that looked like candles. The angel didn’t have a face, but Yuu noticed that its hair and body were a little similar to Mika’s. It might have just been his imagination though.

“Come on,” Mika jumped off of the car and landed gracefully on the ground.

“Yeah,” Yuu jumped after him. Mika extended his arms and caught Yuu by the waist before he landed placing him gently on the ground. Yuu left his hands on Mika’s shoulders where he had put them as Mika caught him. He moved his hands to wrap them around Mika’s neck and Mika kept his hands at Yuu’s waist holding him close to him. Yuu stared at the mansion.

“Really pretty isn’t it?” Mika asked seeing Yuu still in awe.

“Yeah, it is.”

“Would you ever like to live in a place like that?”

“Definitely,” Yuu smiled. “Can you imagine that? Us living together in a place like this?” Yuu kissed Mika on the lips.

“Mm,” Mika hummed into the kiss. “It’s possible you know?”

“I wish.” Yuu turned around so that his back was resting against Mika’s chest and he was facing the mansion. He interlocked his hands with Mika’s still around his waist and leaned his head back on Mika’s shoulder.

“That wish can come true. I’ll tell you a secret. I own one,” he whispered in Yuu’s ear.

“What?!” Yuu turned around again shocked.

“Yup. Twenty rooms. Victorian also. We can go. We can live there in peace,” he touched his forehead to Yuu’s.

“Are you serious?” Yuu lifted his head to look Mika in the eye.

“Yup.” Mika kissed Yuu on the lips.

“But how?” Yuu asked after kissing Mika back.

“It’s a long story. Point is, we can go Yuu. It’s in the U.S. It’s peaceful there. It’s like the apocalypse never happened.”

“I didn’t know that. That sounds really cool,” Yuu smiled.

“But you won’t go,” Mika pulled away.

“Come on, let’s go, the others are waiting.”

They followed after the others. Mika held Yuu’s hand but Yuu could tell Mika was upset. Probably even hurt, which made Yuu hate himself. Mika was the last person Yuu would want to hurt. Yuu wanted to be with Mika. He loved Mika more than he’d ever loved anyone, but he had to do this. If there was a chance he could fix things and make the world better for them, he had to try. Plus, he knew how much Mika hated being a vampire, and maybe with this experiment he could find a way to turn Mika human again. His heart was breaking by the second knowing that he had hurt Mika.

They got to the door and everyone was waiting. The doors were a dark wooden brown and had intricate details.

“It’s locked,” Lord Crowley told them.

“Great,” Yuu said.

“So why not just break it down?” asked Narumi.

“It’s impenetrable,” Mika informed.

“You can open it though,” Lord Crowley told Mika.

“I can?”

“Just open it like you would a normal door. Ferid made it so that it recognizes who’s holding the handles. Who’s trying to open it. He also made sure that only two people are allowed to open it. One obviously being himself, and the other…”

“Me,” Mika finished his sentence.

“Why would he do that?” Yuu asked.

“Mika?” Lord Crowley asked Mika hoping he knew since he sure as hell didn’t.

“I don’t know. Why does Ferid do anything? He’s Ferid,” Mika responded slightly annoyed and walking closer to the doors.

He grabbed the handles and pulled the doors open easily. The others had a hard time believing it was actually locked seeing how smoothly Mika had opened them. The inside of the mansion was just as beautiful as the outside, but also a little bit of a contrast. The inside wasn’t as Victorian as the outside. It was luxurious, modern, but cozy at the same time. It had a fire place which they couldn’t wait to light up since it had gotten considerably cold outside. It was a lot colder than any night at the beach. The weather change made sense since they were very far from the beach now. It had taken almost two hours to get there at the speed Lord Crowley was driving, which said a lot since the only speed he knew was fast

They walked in not really knowing what to do. Mika could tell Yuu was cold so he walked over to the fireplace and lit it, knowing exactly where everything was. He turned around and the squad all looked at him expectantly.

“I’ve been here a few times before,” he clarified.

“Then maybe you could give us a tour?” Shinoa suggested.

“That’s a great idea!” Lord Crowley agreed.

“You’ve been here before too, why don’t you give them a tour?” Mika argued.

“You know the place better than I do,” he said sitting down on one of the huge couches there.

“Could you please just show us where we can sleep? Or if there’s a bathroom or shower we could use?” Yoichi pleaded. The poor boy looked really uncomfortable and a little distressed, Mika guessed he had to use the bathroom but was too shy to ask.

“Alright fine,” Mika said as he stretched out his hand for Yuu to take. Yuu walked to him, took his hand and Mika pulled him close to give him a peck on the lips. “Let’s go,” he said mostly addressing Yuu.

Holding Yuu’s hand he led them down a huge carpeted hallway with paintings on the walls. There were landscape paintings, a portrait of Lord Ferid, some other really cool abstract paintings, and a galaxy painting that caught their attention. It almost looked like it was moving. They all stopped walking and stared at the painting. The stars in the painting really looked like they were sparkling.

“Oh yeah, I forgot Ferid hung that up,” Mika said.

“Wait a minute,” Kimizuki said what everyone was thinking. “You painted that?”

“Yeah. I painted most of these,” Mika admitted.

“That’s really amazing Mikaela!” Yoichi smiled. The others were thinking the same.

“We should keep moving,” was all Mika said.

They kept walking until they got to a beautiful stairway. The first thing they saw was that the stairway had a split landing with two other staircases, one going left, and one going right. The second thing they noticed was the painting on the wall on top of the landing. It was a silhouette of the waist up of what looked like a young boy. They couldn’t see any facial features on the figure, what with it being a silhouette and all, but somehow, they knew it was a boy. A teenage boy between the ages of 15 and 17. They couldn’t explain how the portrait could portray that, but somehow it did. The boy’s hair was short and messy, but what stood out the most was the boy’s crown. It was a strange shade of black. It was a mix of black and light blue. It looked like the color was moving, like the galaxy painting they had seen only moments ago.

"Mika, who is that?" Yuu asked.

"Don't know." Mika seemed to dismiss the conversation.

He led them up the right staircase to a long hallway. One side of the hall was filled with doors that had intricate details carved into them. The detailed designs could only be described as beautiful.

On the other side of the hall there were small lamps attached to the top of the wall. On the ground there were tall vases filled with flowers. There were also potted plants. They alternated in a pattern. The carpet that ran down the middle of the hallway was black and gold. Everything was truly elegant.

“These are the guest bedrooms,” Mika informed them. “You can just choose whichever one you want. They all have their own bathroom.”

“Great. Thank you,” Shinoa seemed to force a smiled. Mika didn't blame her after what happened with Yuu and him she must've been at least a little hurt.

While the others chose a room, Mika pulled Yuu close by the waist and whispered in his ear. “So… are you going to pick a room? ‘Cause I was kinda hoping you’d stay with me in mine.”

“You have your own room?” Yuu smiled giving Mika a peck on the lips.

“Mhm,” Mika hummed into the kiss, answering Yuu’s question.

“I’d love to stay with you.”

Mika couldn’t help but smile at the excitement he saw in Yuu’s eyes. As self-conscious as Mika was, he was pretty sure Yuu wanted him as much as he wanted Yuu.

“We didn’t know you had your own room,” Mitsuba stated. (Because she needs lines guys.)

Neither Mika nor Yuu had noticed the others had walked out of the rooms they had chosen. It seemed they had just randomly chosen the first five rooms. Mika kissed Yuu’s cheek, ignoring Mitsuba’s statement.

“Come on,” he said to Yuu.

“Yeah,” Yuu smiled.

Mika took Yuu’s hand, and led him back down the staircase. He led him up the opposite staircase. It led to a long hallway almost like the other one. The carpet that ran down the middle of this hallway was the same as the other except that this one was red and gold. The doors were also farther apart, Yuu guessed it was because the rooms were bigger. Mika led him to the second door. It looked just like the doors in the guest room. Mika opened the door and turned on the light, the inside was just beautiful. Everything was a beautiful golden color.

Mika’s bed looked like it was made for royalty. It was a canopy bed with golden, yet see through curtains that glowed and sparkled. The fitted sheet and the flat sheet were white, while the duvet cover was golden. There were three layers of pillows. The ones against the headboard were golden. In front of those there were three smaller pillows that were a white color. In front of those were two smaller pillows, their color matched the golden color of the first four pillows and the duvet cover. In front of those there was a small square white pillow with a golden letter “M” in cursive. There was also a white puffy bench at the end of the bed. There were two white bedside tables, each with a beautiful antique and elegant looking lamp.

Yuu also saw two small steps opposite the bed that led to a whole other room. There was a white bookshelf. The books were ordered by color, some looked like they were first editions. Yuu didn’t recognize any of them, he could tell they were in different languages, none of them Japanese though. Close to the bookshelf was a chaise lounge that was a dark shade of gold with two pillows. Yuu also saw a small, glass table close to the chaise lounge. There was a small golden plate on top holding four small candles surrounded by bright red rose heads.

Yuu turned and saw a huge closet that had sliding doors, they were closed though so Yuu couldn’t see inside. Opposite the closet was another door. It was ajar, but Yuu guessed it was the bathroom.

“Mika, this entire room looks like it was made for royalty. Especially the bed,” Yuu said as he walked over and laid down on it. “Oh my God, it’s so comfortable.”

“I’m glad you like it,” Mika laughed.

“Like it? More like love it! Not just the bed either, the room in general! I mean look at all this!”

“Yeah… Ferid likes to spoil me…” Mika admitted not too happily.

“Is that why you have your own mansion?” Yuu laughed.

“No, that was all me, but that’s also a story for another time,” Mika said walking over to the closet.

Yuu was about to ask what that story was but completely forgot when Mika opened the closet. It was full of non-vampire uniform clothes. Most of them were black. There were also different types and brands of shoes. Yuu also saw some belts, and scarfs, and what looked like beanies.

“You don’t mind if I change out of these do you?”

“Oh, um no, of course not,” Yuu blushed.

“You should change too. I just realized we left all our clothes in the barn.”

“Oh yeah,” Yuu remembered.
He was wondering what the others were going to wear when he noticed Mika take off his shirt. Mika’s back was facing him and he saw a whole bunch of scars on it. They weren’t as visible as Yuu remembered but they were still visible. Yuu hated it. He couldn’t imagine what Mika had gone through. He always thought that no one could have it worse than him, because his father had tried to kill him and his mother had called him a demon child before committing suicide, but he realized he was wrong. As awful as that experience was, before that, his childhood had been pretty happy. His parents had been loving, he’d celebrated his birthdays, they were like any other parents. Loving. Kind. Caring. They took care of him when he was sick, and bought him presents and cake for his birthday. Mika on the other hand… his parents had never been kind to him, they weren’t loving, they weren’t caring. They hit him, they hurt him physically and emotionally. Mika had talked about it once but that was it. Yuu didn’t understand how even after all that he went through Mika still smiled, he was kind and friendly and caring. He was everything he shouldn’t have been. Above all though, he was strong.

Mika turned around putting his shirt on and Yuu noticed two things. One was that Mika’s scars weren’t only on his back. He had scars all over his arms too and some on his chest. There weren’t as many on his chest and stomach and they weren’t as visible as the ones on his back, but they were still there. Speaking of chest and stomach… the other thing Yuu noticed was that Mika had a six pack. ‘Of course,’ he thought. He blushed even more than he had a few seconds ago.

Mika looked at him once his shirt was all the way on. He wore a loose gray long sleeve. “What?” he asked Yuu. Mika saw the blush on Yuu’s cheeks and if he were being honest, it was pretty flattering.

“N-nothing,” Yuu avoided eye contact, looking anywhere but at Mika.

“Hey can I use your bathroom?” Yuu didn’t want to be in the room when Mika took off his pants afraid of what he’d end up doing and of how his body might react.

“Sure, it’s that door,” Mika pointed.

Yuu opened the door, turned on the lights, and closed the door behind him. The bathroom was almost as big as the room. It had a shower, a bath, and what Yuu guessed was a jacuzzi. The sink and the mirror were long. The sink was a circular shape but there was a lot of space next to it. There were also small hand towels. He noticed that there were two drawers under the sink too, one on each side. Yuu wondered if he should open them or respect Mika’s privacy… ‘Screw it,’ he thought. ‘Mika’s privacy is mine now. What’s mine is his and what’s his is mine.’ He opened the first drawer trying to convince himself it was ok. Inside was something that looked like a hair straightener and a blow dryer. He went to the other drawer and there were bottles of shampoos and conditioners. There was another bottle though that looked like bath salts. He closed the drawers not knowing what to make of what he found. He did his business, washed his hands, and walked back out. As he walked out he noticed that there were two bath robes hanging on the back of the door. He touched them and decided they were one of the softest things he'd ever touched.

When he walked out Mika had already changed and was laying on his back on the bed. He saw Yuu and sat up. He was wearing black ripped skinny jeans. The grey shirt he was wearing looked kind of like a sweater and was a little too big but Yuu guessed that was the point, plus it looked really good. He was also wearing black puma shoes. Yuu couldn’t help but think that Mika looked hot.

“Hey,” Mika smiled.

“Hey,” Yuu couldn’t help but smile back. He went to the bed and sat in front of Mika. Mika leaned in and kissed Yuu on the lips.

“So, what do you want to do? Don’t tell me you're already sleepy.”

“Actually, I’m not,” Yuu smiled. “It’s dark out though, what time is it?”

Mika turned to look at the wall across from the bookshelf and Yuu noticed that there was a clock he hadn’t seen. There was also a big white square box attached to the wall under it and Yuu wondered what it was.

“8:20,” Mika said. “That’s a pull out desk by the way,” Mika said reading Yuu’s mind once again. That’s when Yuu noticed the golden colored chair close to the desk. It was just there but somehow it fit the room.

Yuu then noticed that there were some beautiful paintings on the walls that he hadn’t seen before. He wouldn’t have been surprised if Mika painted them himself though.

“Wow, it’s a lot earlier than I thought,” Yuu said focusing on his conversation with Mika again.

“Let’s go see how the others are doing,” Yuu suggested.

“Fine,” Mika agreed clearly not happy with Yuu’s suggestion.

They walked out of Mika’s room and saw the others across the stair case talking amongst themselves.

“Hey!” Yuu yelled at them smiling and waving.

They all turned and their eyes went straight to Mika. They had to admit he looked really hot. They noticed Mika was wearing some rings and bracelets. He was also wearing a thin silver necklace with something on it but it was hidden in his shirt so they couldn’t tell what it was. He was also wearing earrings. Wearing all that jewelry they didn’t expect him to still look manly. The jewelry actually made him look hotter. Pretty. Handsome. Hot. He was a mix of all three. Yuu couldn’t agree more. He’d never seen Mika wear jewelry before, and it was hotter than he would have ever imagined.

They walked over to Yuu and Mika and saw what Mika was wearing now.  They had seen him wear normal clothes that weren’t vampire uniform related but they had all worn whatever they could find. What Mika wore was different than what they’d seen him in before. It was edgy but soft at the same time. The black ripped skinny jeans gave him an edgy vibe but the oversized grey sweater that hugged his wrists made him look a little small. Cute. They guessed that was Mika’s style. They all stared at him, not understanding how someone could look so hot yet so adorable at the same time.

“What?” he asked.

“Nothing,” they all said in unison.

“It doesn’t seem like nothing,” he asked annoyed. They all avoided eye contact and Mika guessed what they were thinking. He was flattered.

“We’ve just never seen you dressed like that Mikaela,” Yoichi gave a nervous smile.

“Yeah, you know with the ripped skinny jeans and the jewelry,” Kimizuki pointed out.

“Oh. Well, I have clothes here that I’ve bought from around the world when I traveled with Ferid. You know if you guys want to change out of that you can borrow some.”

“Yeah, that’d be great actually,” Kimizuki agreed.

“Yeah, if that’s ok with you we’d really appreciate it,” Yoichi added.

“Sure,” Mika said. He looked at Narumi who didn’t look at him and said nothing. “Sorry,” he turned to Shinoa and Mitsuba. “I don’t think my clothes will fit you guys.”

“Oh, that’s ok,” Mitsuba said.

“Actually,” he paused. He thought for a second and walked back to his room. He opened his closet and looked at the very far left. There were three girl shirts hung and on top were two girl shorts and one pair of girl’s skinny jeans. He grabbed them and went back out.

“Here,” he handed the shirts to Shinoa and the shorts and pair of jeans to Mitsuba. “Those are the only girl clothes I have sorry. I think they’ll fit you though.”

“Oh, that’s great!” Shinoa looked through the shirts.

“Yeah, thanks,” Mitsuba said.

“Why do you have girls’ clothes?” Narumi asked.

‘Oh, yeah, sure now he speaks’ Mika thought. He gave a nervous side-ways glance to Yuu who was wondering the same. If his heart still beat, it would be racing at that moment, afraid of how Yuu would react to the answer to that question.

“So, do you guys want to pick out some clothes now or later?” he turned to Kimizuki and Yoichi, trying his best to avoid the question. That was one of those secrets he had to tell Yuu about later. The one he was 100% sure Yuu wouldn’t like. Narumi would’ve been angry but he noticed that Mika ignoring his question wasn’t about him, it was more like he didn’t want to answer that specific question.

“I think now is good,” Kimizuki said.

“Sure,” Yoichi agreed smiling.

Mika turned, signaling them with his head to follow him. Narumi, Shinoa, and Mitsuba followed too. Mika didn’t see why they felt the need to come but he didn’t argue. He didn’t really care as long as they didn’t touch anything.

“Woah,” they all said as if rehearsed.

“I know right!” Yuu smiled as he went to sit on the bed. “That’s what I said.”

“That bed looks like it was made for royalty,” Yoichi pointed out in awe. Everyone was thinking the same. They were all in awe of everything they saw in the room.

“I said that too!” Yuu informed.

Kimizuki walked over to sit on the chaise lounge. “It’s even softer than I imagined it would be.”

Mika smiled and walked over to his closet. He opened the right door all the way, and the left door only half of the way.

“Here,” he said. “You can pick whatever you want, whatever will fit.”

Kimizuki got off the lounge and went with Yoichi to the closet. There were so many clothes they didn’t know what to pick. The others saw the closet too and were pretty sure those clothes were expensive as hell. They noticed most of them were shades of black, greys, and dark blues. There were a few white button-down shirts. They also noticed that there were literally only three short sleeve shirts, the rest were all long sleeves.

“Mikaela, would you mind if Mitsu and I use your bathroom to change?” Shinoa asked.

“No, go ahead,” Mika said not caring.

“Woah!” they said as they opened the door. The others turned to look.

“Is that a jacuzzi?” Narumi exclaimed.

“Yeah,” was all Mika answered.

“Actually,” Shinoa said. “I think I want to shower before changing into clean clothes.”

“Me too,” Mitsuba agreed.

They each picked what they wanted to wear and handed the rest back to Mika, but Mika said they could keep them. He told them they should keep them in their room for another time. They thanked him and walked out.

Kimizuki and Yoichi turned back to look at Mika’s closet. Kimizuki got a black button-down long sleeve shirt and dark blue jeans. One of the only five jeans that weren’t skinny jeans. Yoichi got one of the very few colored shirts. It was a light green long sleeve that matched his eyes. He got a pair of black jeans that also weren’t skinny jeans.

“You know, I think I want to go shower first too,” Kimizuki said.

“Me too,” Yoichi agreed. “Thank you, Mikaela,” He smiled. Mika could tell Yoichi meant it.

“Hey how come you look perfectly clean?” Kimizuki noticed. “Did you shower already?”

“No,” Mika answered.

Kimizuki walked closer and put his head really close to Mika’s neck. Mika heard him sniff.

“What the hell are you doing?”

“You smell so nice. Kind of like green apple.”

“Yeah, for some reason vampires are usually really clean. Humans sweat and get dirty easily but vampires take years to actually get dirty, and whatever smell the body wash, or soap, or shampoo, or whatever we use, has stays a very long time. It has something to do with our skin or something, I don’t know,” Mika informed them.

“Oh. So that’s why you always look so clean and smell so nice,” Kimizuki said.

“I guess,” Mika responded.

“Alright, well I’m going to go back to my room and shower,” he walked out.

“Me too,” Yoichi walked out after him.

“Oh and thanks for the clothes,” Kimizuki yelled as the door closed behind him.

Mika saw Narumi stand there awkwardly. “Do you want to borrow something to wear?”

Narumi looked at Mika and after a second looked away and said, “No thanks.” He walked out.

When he heard the door close Mika turned back to Yuu and kissed him. Yuu was sitting on the bed and Mika gently pushed him down without breaking the kiss.

“What about you?” Mika asked between kisses. “Do you want to take a shower? I can take it with you if you feel too lonely in that giant tub,” he teased.

Yuu smiled into the kiss, blushing, and debating whether or not that was a good idea. Suddenly they heard a knock on the door. They both sighed.

“Mika, it’s me,” Lord Crowley said. “Can I talk to you for a sec?”

“Coming,” Mika sighed. “Alright, you go shower, I’ll go see what Lord Crowley wants.”

“Alright.” Yuu looked a little disappointed which in turn made Mika smile.

Mika watched as Yuu walked into the bathroom and then went to open the door for Lord Crowley.

“What is it?”

“Well… This is a little awkward… but since Ferid’s not here, I’m forced to do it.” Lord Crowley looked uncomfortable.

“Do what?” Mika asked warily.

“Here,” Lord Crowley handed Mika a small black bag.

“What is this?” Mika asked taking it. He opened the bag and face-palmed when he saw what was inside. “Are you serious?”

“Ferid said that if you started dating someone and he wasn’t around I had to give you this, so blame him,” Lord Crowley said defensively.

Inside the little bag were condoms. They were the last thing Mika had expected to find. He wondered if STD’s even affected vampires. Whatever. They were unnecessary though, Mika had already…

“Well, thanks,” Mika said. He figured he should just pretend he didn’t have any. What Ferid didn’t know wouldn’t kill him. Ferid still thought… “Is that all?” he asked Lord Crowley.

“Yeah, that’s it,” he started walking away. “Oh actually, remember, no means no,” he laughed. “Oh! Also, putting out doesn’t get you love!”

Mika blushed and slammed the door. Those last two hadn’t been from Ferid, and that last one was too little too late. He remembered the black bag in his hand and went to his closet. He opened the left door the rest of the way and slid some shirts over to the right. There was a thin opening in the wall that you wouldn’t notice unless you knew it was there and were specifically looking for it. Mika slid it open just a little and threw the bag in there. He heard the shower turn off and immediately closed it, sliding the shirts back to where they had been covering it, and sliding the left door closed a little like it had been. He went to the bed using his vampire speed and was laying on it by the time Yuu opened the door. He saw Yuu in his bath robe with his hair wet and messy, and blushed. He saw Yuu blush too and they both avoided eye contact.

“So, um, can I borrow some of your clothes?” Yuu asked awkwardly.

“Oh! Yeah! Get whatever you want,” Mika motioned for the closet.

“Hey, um…” Yuu began as he stood facing the closet. “Do you have… you know… boxers? And if you do, would it be weird if I borrowed some?”

Mika chuckled. “Yeah, I do, and of course you can borrow them. They’re in that drawer. The ones still in the package are new. You can use those if you want,” Mika pointed.

Yuu hadn’t noticed that there were three drawers on the far-right side of the closet. He opened the first drawer and sure enough they were there. He wondered about the other two drawers.

“There are socks in the second one, and all my jewelry is in the last,” Mika informed him.

“Since when do you even wear jewelry?” Yuu asked as he changed into a black V-neck. One of the very few shirts that weren't long sleeve.

“Since like two years ago,” Mika answered.

“Well, I never imagined you with jewelry, but I got to say you look really good in it,” Yuu said as he put on a pair of black skinny jeans he had chosen.

“Thanks,” Mika laughed.

Yuu turned around. “How do I look?” he smiled.

“Hot,” Mika stated.

“You’re just saying that because you like me,” Yuu walked over to where Mika was sitting on the bed. He climbed onto Mika’s lap and wrapped his arms around his neck, with his legs on either side of Mika’s thighs.

“First of all,” Mika said breaking the kiss. “I don’t like you, I love you,” he smiled. “Second of all, I’m saying it because it’s true.”

“I love you too,” Yuu smiled.

They kissed again and Mika laid back on the bed with Yuu still on top of him, without breaking their kiss, and keeping his hands on Yuu’s waist. Yuu tangled one of his hands in Mika’s hair and in one swift movement he was under Mika. That’s when they heard a knock on the door.

“Ugh,” Mika sighed. 'What now?’ he thought.

“Great,” Yuu sighed.

Mika smiled at how annoyed Yuu sounded. He stood and walked to the door with Yuu following. It was Lord Crowley again, but this time the others stood behind him.

“Hey,” he smiled.

“What?” Mika asked.

“Hi,” Yuu smiled back. It reminded Mika of how much they had changed. Four years ago it was Mika who would’ve smiled, and Yuu who would’ve been the opposite of friendly, like Mika was being now.

“I was just telling everyone there’s food in the kitchen. Apparently Ferid planned for this. I also found this note,” he said, handing Mika a piece of paper.

Hi there!

Hope you’re all okay, and if you’re here and reading this, it means Mika’s there. Yey! I’m happy you’re alive Mika! There’s food in the kitchen, so help yourselves. Also, you’ll find what you need in the closet on the second floor. The one next to the music room. Mika knows where it is. Be a good boy and show them where, would you Mika? Thanks! ^_^

P.S. Since it's right next to it, Mika, you should show them the music room, and maybe play them one of your songs!

Mika sighed and crumpled the piece of paper in his hand. “Did everyone already-”

“Read it? Yeah,” Lord Crowley smirked.

“Mika, you write songs?” Yuu smiled surprised. The others hadn’t noticed Yuu standing behind Mika. They looked at him and were a little in shock. Yuu looked hot, like extremely hot. He looked almost as hot as Mika. Standing next to each other they looked like that one ideal, hot, badass, power couple. They had to stop themselves from staring.

“Um, well...” Mika blushed a little. “Anyway, you guys going to eat first, or do you want to go upstairs first?” Mika avoided eye contact.

“Well, I’m kind of hungry,” Kimizuki said. They’d eaten a little over two hours ago, but it wasn’t much. Definitely not enough to say no to food. The others all agreed.

“Alright then, let’s go,” Yuu said.

They began to walk away. Yuu walked out the door and looked back, noticing Mika wasn’t next to him. “Aren’t you coming?” he asked.

“No, you go. I’ll wait here, when you guys are done just let me know,” he smiled.

“Are you sure?”

“Alright,” Yuu said walking back to him. He gave him a kiss on the lips and followed after the others.

* * *

They got to the kitchen, and sure enough the fridge was stacked with all kinds of food and drinks. They decided Kimizuki should probably do the cooking.

About half an hour later the dining table was full of food. They all excitedly dug in, thanking Kimizuki, and Lord Ferid.

Mika was reaching for his bookshelf when he heard a knock on his bedroom door. He walked over, secretly hoping it was Yuu.

“Hey.” It was Lord Crowley again.

“You know, I’m trying to remember the last time I opened a door and you weren’t there. What is it this time?” Mika said sarcastically as he noticed the glass filled with red liquid in Lord Crowley’s hand.

Lord Crowley laughed. “I figured you might be thirsty. Want some?” he asked, offering Mika another glass filled with the same red liquid.

As much as Mika hated to admit it, Lord Crowley was right. He really was thirsty. He felt the fire in his throat again. The pain was becoming more difficult to endure every day. The more human blood he drank, the more he craved it. Those four years he had gone without human blood had been torture. He felt a never-ending and burning thirst in his throat, a thirst Krul’s blood could only calm, but never really quench. Still, it was worse now. The thirst was stronger now. He used to be able to go a couple of weeks without any blood, but ever since he began drinking human blood, the craving for it became harder and harder to resist.

“Whose blood is it?” he asked.

“Well, by the taste of it, it’s children’s blood,” Lord Crowley answered. “Unlike me, Ferid greatly enjoys children’s blood. You should be well aware of that,” he added.

Right. Of course he was. He of all people knew that. He’d experienced it firsthand. As much as he tried not to, he remembered it clearly, like it was just yesterday. It was one of the main reasons he refused to drink a child’s blood. He knew what it felt like.

“I’m good, thanks,” he said as he closed the door.

Great. Now all he could focus on was the fire in his throat. He stayed standing by the door trying to regain his self-control. He heard a *clink* sound and then the low sound of Lord Crowley walking away, a sound so low a human wouldn’t be able to hear it. He was about to open the door again to see what the *clink* was when a certain smell reached him. Blood. The smell was strong. He froze in place with his hand less than an inch away from the door knob. The smell seemed to take over his body. Before he could stop himself, he yanked the door open and took the glass of blood, quickly closing the door once he had it in his hand. ‘No,’ he thought just as he was about to place the glass to his lips. He took a deep breath, and using all his strength, he placed the glass on the glass table. He sat on the chaise lounge and stared at the blood. He could feel the burn growing in his throat, but he had to resist. Using his vampire speed he quickly took the glass to the bathroom, and poured the blood down the drain before he lost what little control he had left.

“Ugh. I’m so full,” Yuu sighed.

“Well then here’s an idea, why don’t you stop eating?” asked Kimizuki.

“Because Mika hasn’t had blood in a while, and though he won’t ask, I know he’s thirsty.”

“Alright, but you look like you’re about to burst,” Mitsuba pointed out.

“I’m almost done,” Yuu said sounding like he had trouble breathing. “One more bite and I’m done.”

“I’m starting to feel sick just looking at you,” said Narumi.

“Done,” Yuu said as he swallowed the last bite.

“Alright,” Kimizuki said collecting the plates.

“Here, I’ll help you do the dishes,” offered Yoichi.

“Thanks,” Yuu said. “Meet me at Mika’s room when you’re done. Take your time,” he said to everyone now as he walked away.

Mika laid on his bed after washing the glass that had been stained with blood, when he heard a knock on the door. He wasn’t sure how much time had passed but he was hoping it was Yuu. He sighed and went to open the door.

“Hi,” Yuu smiled.

“Hey.” Mika couldn’t help but smile back as he stood aside signaling Yuu to come in.

He closed the door and held Yuu by the waist bringing him in for a kiss. As Yuu wrapped his arms around Mika’s neck they walked back to the bed. Mika gently pushed Yuu down and moved his lips to kiss Yuu’s neck.

Yuu felt Mika suddenly pull away. “Mika, are you ok?” he asked as Mika stood up.

“Yeah,” Mika swallowed. “I’m fine.”

“You’re thirsty. Here,” he offered. "Drink."

“No, I’m fine,” Mika lied.

“Mika,” Yuu sighed. “In case you haven’t noticed… it’s kind of a turn on,” he admitted nervously.

“I know,” Mika laughed. “It’s supposed to be.”

“Yeah, when a vampire bites, both sides feel… turned on.”

“Oh. I didn’t know that.”

“Well, you’re the only one who’s ever bitten me. I thought that maybe it was just because well you know, it’s you.”

“What about when we weren’t together?”

“Well, I still thought you were attractive. I mean look at you. Guy or girl, straight or not, no one can deny your… well… beauty.”

Mika couldn’t help but feel flattered and laugh at the same time. He walked back and sat on the bed. Yuu turned to him and pulled down his sleeve enough to expose his collarbone and shoulder. He straddled Mika again and kissed him, tangling one hand in his soft blond locks. He pulled away just enough to look Mika in the eyes. With his eyes lidded he craned his head to expose his neck. He nodded once and Mika leaned in.

Mika dug his fangs into Yuu’s neck. He could feel how soft Yuu’s skin was against his lips. The taste of Yuu’s blood was amazing. He couldn’t get enough. A few moments later he felt Yuu’s grip in his hair slowly loosen. He had to stop before he drank Yuu dry. He removed his fangs, and licked the bite mark. No sense in letting the excess blood go to waste.

Feeling Mika’s tongue on his skin made Yuu moan. He would’ve been embarrassed had he not known that Mika was as turned on as he was. He moved his head to face Mika.

“Thanks,” Mika breathed.

“Any time,” Yuu said as out of breath as Mika.

He looked at Mika’s lips and saw that there was still some blood on his bottom lip. Without thinking, Yuu leaned in and licked the blood from Mika’s lip. It tasted like metal, he couldn’t imagine it tasting good, but for some reason he found it hot. To his surprise, Mika didn’t question him. Instead he kissed him. The kiss was intense. Yuu had a hard time keeping up with Mika. He pulled away just enough to breathe, as he did, Mika moved his lips to his neck again, just under his chin this time. He didn’t bite though. Instead, he sucked on his skin. Hard. Yuu figured he left a hickey. Even if he was wearing his uniform and not a V-neck the spot wouldn’t be covered and Yuu was pretty sure Mika knew that.

“Really?” he asked raising an eyebrow.

“What?” Mika smiled. “This way everyone will know that you’re taken. That you’re mine,” he finished with a smirk.

“So what? You’re marking your territory?”

“Well I wouldn’t phrase it like that, but yeah I guess. Does that bother you?”

“I feel like it should, but to be honest… it doesn’t.”

They kissed again, softer this time. Their lips and bodies fit perfectly. Like they were made for each other. Born for each other.

Yuu pulled away again. “I love you, Mika,” he breathed.

“I love you too.”

Just as they were about to kiss again, there was a knock on the door. “Well of course,” Mika said.

He gave Yuu a peck on the lips before Yuu got off of him. Mika stood up right after him and held his hand. They walked to the door and Mika opened it, still annoyed.

“Hey,” Kimizuki greeted.

“Hey,” Yuu smiled.

The others noticed the hickey Yuu had, and Mika couldn’t help, but internally smile. Yuu noticed and gave him a look asking, ‘Are you proud of yourself?’ To which Mika smiled and silently responded, ‘Yup.’

“What is it?” Mika asked the others.

“Well, um, you told us to let you know when we were done eating so that you could show us where Lord Ferid said everything we needed was,” Yoichi said nervously. Mika was pretty sure Yoichi was afraid of him, and felt bad for him so he didn’t argue.

“Alright lets go.”

He closed his bedroom door and walked in front of the others, still holding Yuu’s hand. He knew he was being possessive, but if he were being honest, it scared him how much Yuu cared about the others. Mika had always been special to Yuu, he’d always been the one that mattered most, he’d always been the most important, but now… Yuu had found other people who were probably just as important as Mika. It bothered him, but most importantly it scared him. It scared him that one day they would take him away from him.

They got to the stairs, and went to the second floor. From what they could tell, there were more than two floors. They wondered what the other floors were. Once they got to the second floor, they passed a couple of doors before stopping at one. Mika opened the door and they were all shocked at what they saw.

Chapter Text

“Hey,” Yuu said.
“Hey,” Mika replied.
“So... whatcha doin?”
“Sitting here. Questioning all my life choices,” Mika sighed. He was sitting in the sand facing the ocean like he had done many times before.
“Can I sit with you?”
They sat in silence. Awkwardly looking away from each other.
“Sorry,” they said simultaneously.
“Sorry. You go first,” they said together again. They couldn’t help but laugh at that.
“You go,” Mika smiled.
“No, you go first. Why are you apologizing?” Yuu was genuinely curious as to why on Earth Mika was apologizing. He had absolutely nothing to apologize for.
“I’m apologizing because this is my fault,” Mika answered with another sigh.
“What’s your fault? Why?”
“It’s my fault we’re sitting here like this. Awkwardly. It’s never been awkward between us and now because of me, it is.”
“It’s not that awkward. We’re just not sure what to say to each other.”
“That’s kind of what makes it awkward Yuu. And that’s never been a problem before.”
“I’m sorry. I’m just not sure what the right thing to say is. I don’t want to hurt you. That’s the last thing I want to do Mika.”
“I know.”
“Besides, it’s not awkward right now is it?”
“So what were you going to apologize for?” Mika ignored his question.
“Oh. Well not knowing how to handle this I guess. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do.”
“You’re not supposed to do anything. This is my problem.”
“If it’s your problem then it’s my problem too.”
“Which is why I shouldn’t have said anything.”
“Don’t be stupid, it would’ve been worse. If you hadn’t said anything I would’ve worried anyway. I know I can be oblivious but not when it comes to you.”
“I just feel terrible about all of this. I wish I didn’t feel this way. It’s tiring.”
“I’m really sorry.”
“Stop apologizing. None of this is your fault.”
“You look really tired. Come here.” Yuu moved closer to Mika and gently put Mika’s head on his lap, so that Mika was laying down. Mika closed his eyes peacefully. Yuu touched Mika’s face, and started making figure eights on Mika’s cheek. Mika turned to face him and Yuu’s finger landed on the tip of Mika’s nose.
“What are you doing?” Mika said after a few seconds.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean why is your finger on my nose?”
“Well, you turned.”
“Alright, well do you mind taking it off?” he smiled. Yuu smiled in response and they laughed.
“Are you comfortable?”
“With you touching my face? Yeah, sure, I guess.”
Yuu laughed, “I mean the way you’re laying down. Is it comfortable?”
Mika smiled. “Oh. It’s not not comfortable.” Yuu laughed at Mika’s response and began to trace figure eights on Mika’s cheek again. They stayed like that in silence, but it wasn’t an awkward silence anymore, it was a peaceful one.

Meanwhile. Shinoa and the others stared at them.
Mitsu spoke first. “Um hey Shinoa isn’t that kind of… weird? The way they’re sitting there? Like that?”
“They kind of look like a couple.” Narumi pointed out.
“No,” Shinoa laughed with a worried expression on her face. “They’re just really close. That’s all.”

“Hey Mika?” Yuu asked breaking the silence.
“Is this one of those moments? The painful ones you were talking about? You know when you’re near me?”
Mika sat up. He turned to face the ocean again sitting next to Yuu. “Not if I don’t think about it.”
“It’s fine. You should probably get back to them though. Especially to your… person you’re in a romantic relationship with.”
“My ‘person I’m in a romantic relationship with’?” Yuu laughed.
“Yeah I’m not going to say the ‘g’ word sorry.”
“It’s fine. I don’t even use the ‘g’ word. It feels weird. Anyway, I’m not leaving you here.”
Mika sighed one last time. “Fine,” he stood up. “Let’s go,” he offered his hand to Yuu and smiled. Yuu smiled back, took his hand and stood up. They looked down at their hands and immediately let go looking away awkwardly before walking back to the others.

Chapter Text

Mika led them to a different set of stairs, starting from the first floor. From what they could tell, there were more than two floors. They wondered what the other floors were. Once they got to the second floor, they passed a couple of doors before stopping at one. Mika opened the door and they were all shocked at what they saw.

Inside there were about 20 columns of clothing. Not just any clothing, uniforms. Ten of those columns were labeled “Girls,” and the other ten were labeled “Boys.” Each column seemed to be a different size. Under each column there were also boots in different sizes. Shinoa reached for a pair and they were exact size. She looked up at the column they were under and examined it. Her exact uniform was there, even some bows like the one she wore in her hair.

“These are my exact sizes,” she informed.

The others looked around each column and found a column with their exact sizes too. They were exact replicas of their uniforms.

“Oh my God,” Yoichi gasped.

“What the fuck?” Yuu asked creeped out.

“What the actual hell?” Narumi said holding up one of the shirts.

“Um…” Kimizuki didn’t know what to say.

“It alarms me how unsurprised I feel right now,” Mika sighed. Yuu turned to him and smiled.

“So what do we do with these? Do we take them to our room or what?” Mitsuba asked. Everyone wondered the same and turned to Mika for an answer.

“What?” Mika furrowed his brow. “What do you want me to say? It’s your choice.”

They all began arguing. Some saying they should take them, and others said they didn’t trust the clothes weren’t rigged or covered in poison. The others argued that there’d be no point in Lord Ferid doing that. Both sides had good arguments. Mika found it annoying and just leaned against the doorway closing his eyes, crossing his arms across his chest, and resting his head back against the door frame. He wasn’t sure how much time had gone until one of them yelled loudly, telling the others to quiet down.

“Alright.” Mika realized it had been Shinoa who yelled. “I don’t think we’ll end up agreeing, so everyone do what you want. If you want to take them, feel free to do so. If you don’t want to take them, then just leave them here. Now, it’s late, and we’re all tired, so just make up your mind and we’ll all go back to our rooms. We’ll get some sleep and discuss everything that’s going on in the morning. Alright?”

“I’m glad you decided to leave your clothes there,” Mika said to Yuu as they walked into Mika’s room.

“Why?” Yuu asked as Mika closed the door behind him.

“Because you wearing my clothes is kind of a turn on. Plus, you just look hot in them.”

“Oh my God,” Yuu laughed as he sat on Mika’s bed, secretly flattered.

Mika noticed the blush on Yuu’s cheeks and smiled. He went to his closet and threw Yuu an oversized t-shirt. Yuu held it up and looked at him confused.

“Well you can’t sleep in that,” Mika pointed out. “And I’m a vampire so I don’t own pajamas, ‘cause you know, I don’t sleep.” Mika decided to leave out the fact that he had some comfortable sweats Yuu could wear to bed. Yuu wearing nothing but one of his t-shirts to bed was a thought he just couldn’t resist.

Using his vampire speed Mika walked over to Yuu and kissed him. “Mmm,” Yuu hummed into the kiss.

He let go of the shirt and wrapped his arms around Mika’s neck, tangling one of his hands in his hair. It was one of his favorite things to do since Mika’s hair was the softest thing he’d ever touched. He felt Mika’s lips leave his and move to his neck.

“I can help you change if you want,” he felt Mika whisper in his ear. His heart beat faster and his entire body became covered in goosebumps.

“So what do you say?” Mika asked him. Yuu’s mind was going blank at the feeling of Mika’s lips all over his neck, but he was pretty sure he answered with ‘Please help me.’

The next thing Yuu knew, it was morning and he was in Mika’s bed. His head was resting on Mika’s chest. He had fallen asleep in Mika’s arms. He remembered the events of last night.

Mika had kissed him and offered to help him change. He agreed and as Mika took off his clothes, he had taken off Mika’s shirt. He had seen the scars that were all over Mika’s chest and arms. He had seen them before, but never so close up. When he did, Mika sat up still on top of him. They had both paused at that moment. Yuu taking in what he saw, and Mika waiting for Yuu’s reaction. Yuu leaned up and kissed one of Mika’s scars before kissing him on the lips and pulling him back down on top of him. He remembered how intense their kiss was. It was like both of their lives depended on it. Mika had kissed Yuu’s chest and stomach, leaving small bite marks along the way. Yuu remembered the pleasure he’d felt. He remembered trying to unbutton Mika’s jeans but also remembered that Mika had stopped him. Everything was clear in his memory.
