oh my calculus

Work Text:

Jungkook considers himself to be an average student with a number of cool friends, parents who care enough to know what he goes through most days but who let him do what he wants, just as long as he tells them beforehand, even though he's in a dormitory. He also knows he doesn't do too well in his classes, earning mediocre grades, making him truly belong in the 'average student' category. He had always been interested enough to get through his subjects each school year, so life was pretty normal for him.

Well, all his subjects except math.

Luckily for him, he had friends to help him get through college-level algebra (and the rest of his math classes, actually) so he could still pass as an 'average student'. Taehyung, one of his closest friends, probably even his best friend already, used to laugh at him first before helping him out with his assignments and homework. Jungkook had to suffer like that for a few months until Taehyung introduced Jimin to him.

Jungkook didn't really believe in love at first sight.
But after a few more glances at the boy...

Anyway, Jimin was an angel compared to Taehyung. Whenever he saw Jungkook having trouble with math, he'd bound over and say, "Need help with that?" with a smile on his face and sparkles in his eyes. At first Jungkook was hesitant because he didn't want his new crush friend to see how much he sucked at math, but after a while he couldn't resist anymore.

And he was glad that he swallowed his pride because oh my god was Jimin good at math. He solved the problem Jungkook had been working on for an hour already in less than 10 minutes. With his mouth agape, Jungkook turned to the smaller boy and asked, "How did you do that?" to which Jimin patiently explained everything, and Jungkook was able to get it. After that, they had a silent agreement that Jimin was going to help Jungkook with math from then on even if the latter was being stubborn and was refusing help (because let's face it, he really did need help).

It's been almost 3 years since they first met, and since then, Jungkook had gotten along with math just fine. In fact, Jungkook thinks he might just start to like pre-calculus this time.

At the start of the semester, he was cautious when he first attended his 1pm math class, but as the days rolled by, he realized that it was quite easy to understand. He thought it would finally be the start of a beautiful relationship with a subject he once hated.

But he somehow kept arriving late to his class, making his professor think that he's slacking off (which he wasn't, for his information). There was always a reason, though.

Instance #1:

"Dude, what time's your next class?" Jungkook was close to shouting by that point, even though they were right next to each other, because of the sound effects of the game and the background music they were playing.

"I'm free the whole day! Professors cancelled," Taehyung replied, eyes not leaving the screen in front of him as he fired his gun relentlessly at Jungkook's teammates.

"Shit!" Jungkook exclaimed as he watched his hero die from the bomb Taehyung just threw. "You're gonna be sorry for that."

They were playing Overwatch with each other and Taehyung, the genius, suggested that they play against each other to test their skills, even though he knew how competitive Jungkook could get.

Unfortunately, being roommates meant that if both of them are playing, then there was no one left to remind them both of what they were supposed to be doing, like eating lunch, doing their projects that were due that very same week, or even going to class. Jungkook had missed his first 2 classes already because of their little competition (best of 3 victories and the loser has to buy the winner his favorite meal, so Jungkook couldn't afford to lose. Taehyung eats like he has four stomachs).

Taehyung's team won 15 minutes before Jungkook's 1pm precalc class was supposed to start. They had spent 30 minutes mercilessly fighting, and after a number of overtimes, it was down to their heroes, 1-on-1. They were tied so it meant that if Jungkook could kill Taehyung's hero, they would win the game. But just as he was about to deliver the final blow, a message popped up on his screen saying "reconnect wireless controller" which meant his got disconnected, and that Taehyung could go in for the kill. Which, of course, Taehyung did.

Fuming, Jungkook demanded they play again right away instead of waiting 'til Jungkook's classes were finished.

"You have 15 minutes 'til calc. You sure about that?" Taehyung teased.

"I'm gonna end you in 10, watch me," Jungkook said, gritting his teeth.

Taehyung laughed at how red Jungkook looked and how riled up he got all because of a little competition. "Bring it on."

Long story short, Jungkook was 10 minutes late to class, earning him a glare from his professor (because Mr. Jung hated being interrupted) and a handful of scrutinizing looks from his classmates (they were probably the grade-conscious ones), but it was all worth it. True to his word, he managed to beat Taehyung in 10 minutes and ran back to campus in 15 minutes. When he settled into his seat, he swore he wouldn't do something stupid like that again right before class.

And, of course, he knew he was lying to himself.

Instance #2:

Jungkook stared at the bottom right corner of his laptop screen which indicated that it was already 7:08 in the morning and he still hadn't had a wink of sleep. It was his fault, of course, he knew that, because he didn't start working on the project a week ago like he originally planned to. So he figured he'd do an all-nighter instead because the work wasn't that hard, it was just long. And since it was due the next day, it didn't really seem like he had any other choice.

His eyes were already drooping with his hands still on his keyboard when he heard an alarm blaring from bed above his. This jolted him awake, causing him to hit his head on the wall he was propped up on. He heard muffled laughter from above as he massaged the back of his head.

"Woah, good morning to you," Taehyung chuckled as he jumped off the upper bunk bed. "You look like death. Still not finished coding?"

Jungkook groaned. "Do I look like I'm finished?" He turned the laptop around so it would face his best friend. Taehyung squinted and saw the error message Jungkook was trying to show him.

Taehyung tsk-ed. "Well, sucks for you bro. I'm gonna go hit the shower and take off in a few, sorry I can't help you with anything."

"Nah," Jungkook waved him off, turning the laptop back around and continuing with his work. "It's okay. I'm good."

After 12 hours of endless typing and re-typing, Jungkook finally finished at 9AM, an hour before his computer science class started. He couldn't start sleeping then so he thought to wait it out until noon when his class finished. He readied himself for class, took a shower (and was quite proud of himself for not falling asleep while taking it), ate a little, and walked calmly to class.

About an hour and a half into his class, he already felt like passing out due to exhaustion, so when the class finished, despite having tripped because of the wires on the floor, he was the first one out. Naturally, he would've gone back to the dorms and slept comfortably in his bed, but he only had an hour 'til pre-calc.

He found himself walking silently to the library where he figured was a good place to take a nap (judging by the number of times he fell asleep while studying there). He chose a nice, quiet corner in the room and took his cellphone out to set the alarm and fell asleep almost instantly.

A bump to his desk woke him up. Jungkook looked up to glare at the guy, apparently a freshman, and saw that he was carrying a whole stack of books and was trying hard to balance them all in his hands. He apologized profusely to Jungkook before making his way to another desk a few feet away from Jungkook's. Groggily, he took a look around the area and almost went back to his sleeping position when he felt his phone in his hand. He turned the screen on and almost fell off his chair completely awake. He apparently forgot to set the alarm and it was currently 1:15PM, his math class already 15 minutes into the session. He was contemplating on whether or not to attend anymore when he remembered that they had a quiz that day that he couldn't afford to miss.

Needless to say, he was almost 20 minutes late but managed to answer all the questions in the quiz. He knew Jimin would be proud.

Instance #3:

It was a Tuesday and it was rare for Jungkook to have nice Tuesdays (because of his schedule) but here he was, having one of the nicest Tuesdays he's ever had in his college life so far. Maybe it was because of how he woke up (no alarms, just peacefully waking up with the sun already brightly shining in the sky, light streaming through their window), or because of the email his math professor sent him (he didn't actually read the entire thing because he was too lazy but from the notification panel, he saw that it started out as "Students, I am sorry to announce that we have no classes..." so he took it as that), or maybe because Jimin was in their dorm room and was watching a movie with him because they both didn't have classes.

Jungkook didn't really know. Maybe it was all of the above.

Taehyung was supposed to join them but he had a chemistry lecture he had to attend to. Jimin came before he left so Taehyung got to tease Jungkook first, saying "Enjoy yourself, loverboy," and winking before slipping out of their room. Jungkook had to excuse himself to the bathroom before they started watching because he didn't want Jimin to see how red he was.

When Jungkook came out, Jimin suggested they do a marathon of the Highschool Musical movies in order, to which Jungkook agreed.

"But I have to go at around 1:30, I have to meet up with my groupmates to discuss something about our project. Is that okay?" Jimin asked. Of course it was okay for Jungkook, way okay since they were the only ones there (but he would never admit that). They had plenty of time, and because he didn't have math that day, he had even more time with Jimin than he was supposed to have. Jungkook was thanking the stars for his professor.

Another thing he was thankful for that day was the fact that he could release his inner dweeb with Jimin, jamming out to the HSM soundtrack. He and Jimin kept laughing but singing along nevertheless. Because, come on, who would be able to resist singing along to Troy and Gabriella (and the occasional Sharpay and Ryan)? It was all going along so fine, watching movie after movie, singing song after song that Jungkook could feel his throat getting a bit sore (it was worth it), until Jimin took a look at the clock right as Gabriella was saying goodbye to Troy.

Jimin nudged Jungkook. "Kook."

"It's almost 1. Don't you have a class?"

All Jungkook could think was ohmygod he remembered?? but he had to respond so, "Nope, not today. Professor Jung emailed."

"Oh, okay then," Jimin said. A few minutes later, though, Jimin asked, "Can I borrow your phone? I have to check something and I apparently don't have internet here in this blackhole of a dorm room you have." He chuckled lightly.

Jungkook absentmindedly reached for his phone. "Mm-hm. Sure, here you go," he said as he handed it over to Jimin.

When they got to the part where Troy was singing alone at night in East High, Jimin tapped Jungkook's shoulder. "Uh, Kook? What is it you said about your math class?"

"Hm?" Jungkook turned to face Jimin. "Oh, yeah, Professor Jung sent an email saying we won't have classes today."

"I think you might want to look at this again. Sorry I snooped through your email," Jimin said with a bashful smile while handing the phone back over to Jungkook.

"'Sokay hyung," Jungkook smiled back at him.

His smile disappeared, though, once he read what the email really contained. He had apparently assumed what was written in the email because this was the whole entry:

"Students, I am sorry to announce that we have no classes next meeting, so we will have to finish the exam coverage of next week's exam today. Please do not be late."

After shouting out a "Bye hyung, lock the door when you leave! Thank you!" to Jimin, he started sprinting to class. It was a good thing he was dressed already because he only had 10 minutes to get to class.

The average time to get to the lecture hall on foot by running was 15 minutes.

Jungkook made it in 12.

Instance #4:

After weeks and weeks of struggling with one topic, Jungkook finally understood it and felt as if he had already conquered math and was slightly anticipating their pre-final exam, although they weren’t going to take it until the next meeting. It fueled him, though, to put more effort into getting to class early and being more attentive (since that was why he wasn’t able to understand that one topic right away). He started walking to class around 30 minutes before the time, which was so new to him, so he walked leisurely, appreciating the beauty of nature inside their campus. He arrived with 15 minutes to spare, calmly walking to his usual seat and making himself as comfortable in his seat as possible.

Instead of trying to get ready for the class by looking at his notes from the last meeting, he opted to plug his earphones in and listen to music while playing games on his phone. He just finished his game with a new high score when he felt someone tap his shoulder. He almost fell over when he turned around and saw that it was Jimin behind him since Jimin wasn’t in his math class so he shouldn’t have been there. Also, Jungkook actually felt his heart skip a beat. He didn’t know if it was because he was so shocked or because of how Jimin’s new glasses looked so good on him. He didn’t want to find out.

“Hyung? Why are you here?”

Jimin giggled. “I was going to ask you the same thing.”

Jungkook tilted his head in confusion. “This is my math class. Are you sitting in?”

“Nope. Look around you. Do you know anyone here?” Jungkook did as he was told and as his eyes swept over the occupied chairs, he noticed a lot of new faces in his class. In fact, he didn’t recognize anyone.

Jimin spoke up just as Jungkook was supposed to ask, “I don’t know if you got the memo, but if your math class is here, then maybe our rooms were switched for today. This room has a larger screen for projecting and my professor needs to show us a video for our project.”

Jungkook’s eyes widened and he quickly turned around to dig in his bag for his notebook to check his notes. Jimin smiled. “You actually forgot, didn’t you?”

Jungkook groaned in response. Next meeting. Room 205 Wing A. , a memo above his notes said. He looked at his watch. The room was on the other side of the building. “Doesn’t it take, like, 10 minutes to get there?” he asked his hyung, seeing as he had only 5 minutes ‘til classes started.

“8 if you run,” Jimin said, trying to stifle his laughter. “But I’ll let you in on a secret.” Jimin motioned for Jungkook to lean closer and he whispered, “There’s a path behind the building and you’ll see an emergency exit leading right from that room to the ground. It’s the door at the back of the room and it’s always unlocked.”

Jungkook scrambled out of his seat and rushed towards the door. “Okay, thanks hyung! I owe you big time!!” he shouted and waved to Jimin. He looked behind one last time, just in time to see Jimin waving back with a huge grin on his face.

“Good luck, Jungkookie!”

He raced through the halls with his heart pounding, though he knew that being late wasn’t exactly the reason why adrenaline was pumping into his veins. He arrived in class just as the professor turned around to write on the board, slipping into the back seats with none of his classmates turning around and paying attention to him. He wouldn’t have made it if he didn’t use that emergency exit route.

Contrary to how motivated he was to attend class earlier that day, he still didn’t get a word of the lecture. His mind was too busy, occupied with thoughts about Jimin, how good he looked that day, how glasses actually fit him, how anything he wears fits him, what he went through to discover that emergency exit, how often he uses that emergency exit, and a little bit of how he could still feel Jimin’s warm breath in his ear.

He was late, but it was kind of worth it.

Instance #5:

National holidays naturally meant more study time for normal students since they come around either in the middle or near the end of the semester. But to kids like Jungkook, it meant more time to rest and procrastinate.

It just so happened that he, Taehyung, and Jimin had no morning classes the morning after that day since a lot of professors cancelled classes due to the holiday. They groaned when they found out that they still had afternoon classes, but were thankful nonetheless. To celebrate, they decided to go drinking (all of them were of age already anyway) and sing their hearts out at a 노래방 (noraebang) near Jimin’s apartment. Taehyung invited his “good friend” Bogum to make the crowd even, though judging by the bashful smile on Taehyung’s face and the tiniest hint of red on his cheeks, Jungkook could tell what was really going on.

나는 이 노랠 부르며 (naneun i norael bureumyeo)
너에게 돌아갈 거야 (neoege doragal geoya)
아름다웠던 그댈 (areumdaweotdeon geudael)
다시 볼 수 있다면 (dashi bol su itdamyeon)

Bogum was no stranger to them, having had him over in Jungkook and Taehyung’s dorm quite a few times already (even though he was their senior), so after just 3 hours of exchanging shots and songs, they were all drunk. None of them were as drunk as Taehyung, though. Taehyung was in the worst condition, but thankfully enough, he hadn’t thrown up or anything like that yet. He was still busy hogging the mic, trying to finish singing BIGBANG’s Last Dance by himself even though they originally planned to sing that all together. They just let him have it.

Another thing to be thankful for that night was that, though they were by no means professional drinkers, they managed to get through the night unharmed and happy, no broken things in the room and no bad decisions made (yet). So a few minutes after Taehyung finished the song, they paid and headed home.

On their way out, Taehyung was so unsteady that he had to be helped by both Jungkook and Bogum, so Jimin was left giggling to himself and carrying their coats. Taehyung kept stopping to tell them “I love you guys. Sooooo much!” every once in a while and, by the time they got to the corner, they were all a laughing mess again.

“Hyuuuuung,” Taehyung whined to Bogum while they were waiting for the bus to arrive.

“What is it, Taehyung?”

“Can I sleep overrr? At your apartment?” He was swaying and his speech was so slurry already it was amazing he hadn’t already fallen asleep yet.

Bogum understood and his eyes widened a bit. “You sure?”

“Yeaaaah, jus’ wanna spend time with you, ‘sall,” Taehyung said with that bashful smile Jungkook saw earlier.

And to Jungkook’s surprise, even under the streetlight, he could clearly see his Bogum hyung blushing. “Well okay, but what about Jungkook?”

“Jungkook?” Taehyung turned to look at his best friend. “Ahhh, my buddy here can take care of himself. Right Gguk?” Jungkook fiercely nodded. “Besides, Jimin’s here as well, I’m sure they can just stsdfhskdfhj―”

Jungkook covered Taehyung’s mouth before he could say anything else, not wanting Jimin to be creeped out or anything like that. “Hyung, just please take him.”

Bogum laughed but agreed, hailing the next cab he saw instead of waiting for the bus so he and Taehyung could go straight to his apartment. Once Jungkook helped them get inside the cab and Jimin gave them their jackets, they bade each other goodbye and the two were left to watch them disappear into the night.

Jimin was starting to walk back to his apartment, thinking Jungkook was behind him, when he heard a “Good night, hyung!” from the guy. He turned around and faced Jungkook, confused, and asked, “Aren’t you coming along?”

Taken aback, Jungkook asked, “Why?”

“Well, since Bogumie hyung’s taking Taehyung with him, I thought… you know. I thought you’d be staying over at my place as well. Since Taehyung won’t be around at yours and… I don’t know, you could… get lost on the way home?” Jimin played with the hem of his shirt and didn’t look up until he finished talking.

Jungkook stared at Jimin for a few seconds, heart starting to race in his chest, and grinned. “Well, you do have a point. Besides, the guard at our dormitory might kill me if I go back reeking of alcohol.”

Jimin grinned in return. He stretched his hand out to give Jungkook back his jacket and said, “Let’s go.”

The walk to Jimin’s apartment gave Jungkook time to actually sober up a bit because it was a few blocks away from the noraebang place and it was kind of chilly outside at 1am not to mention the fact that he was beside Park freaking Jimin the entire time. They strolled down the street in comfortable silence, the buzz from their booze settling quietly into their stomachs.

When they got to Jimin’s apartment, they wordlessly took their shoes off and just plopped down next to each other on Jimin’s very comfortable sofa, still clearly intoxicated.

“This may have been a bad idea. I don’t feel like getting up anymore,” Jungkook chuckled, leaning back and resting his head but he wasn’t sleepy at all.

Jimin giggled. “No, that’s gross. Come on.” He stood up slowly and looked at Jungkook. “I’m gonna get us water and your clothes and you’re going to change into them before you fall asleep, okay?” Jungkook just nodded and Jimin walked away.

A few minutes later, Jimin appeared in his comfortable sleepwear with a glass of water and clothes that were actually Jungkook’s which surprised him. “Why are these here?”

“You used to sleep over all the time, remember? I mean, when you still had so much trouble with your math.” Jimin shrugged and sat down beside him. “I didn’t think to give it back to you just in case you needed another all-nighter for a math exam or something. I did wash them, though,” he said with a laugh.

Jungkook took a sniff. Yep, that’s definitely Jimin’s detergent. “You did.” He laughed. “Okay, I’ll be right back.” He stood up slowly and made his way to the bathroom, a familiar corridor greeting him. After struggling a bit with his jeans, he finally changed out of his outfit and hung it on the bar near the shower. He slowly made his way back to the living room, expecting to see a snoring Jimin on the sofa, but was thankfully disappointed.

“Not sleepy yet?” Jungkook asked Jimin as he approached the sofa. He sat down and faced Jimin who, upon seeing what Jungkook had done, did the same.

“Nope. Still wanna talk.” Jimin smiled.

“About what?”

A little slurry, Jimin said, “I wanted to say thank you.”

“For what?”

“You sang my favorite song earlier. Dear No One.”

“Oh, yeah.” Jungkook lowered his gaze, suddenly a little shy. “Hope I did it justice, though.”

“You did, don’t worry,” Jimin said with a little laugh. “Did you know?”

“That it was my favorite song.”

Jimin hummed in response. Jungkook could feel the silence slowly engulfing them, and even though it was the comfortable kind (because it would always be comfortable when it came to Jimin), Jungkook had to ask something.

“Why’d you keep singing sad songs earlier?”

“What? Those weren’t sad songs.”

Jungkook poked Jimin’s thigh. “They were. They were just upbeat.” Which was true, because most of the songs Jimin sang were about being sad or broken, but they were upbeat. Like the one he had to change to a guy’s pitch, 2NE1’s ‘Happy’, or BEAST’s ‘Breath’, and other songs like that, even some in English, but they had almost the same message. Like about loving someone from afar, or something.

Jimin sighed in defeat. “Guess you saw right through me.” He ruffled his hair. “Just trying to get something off my chest, I guess.”

In the back of Jungkook’s mind, a heart could be heard being broken (and maybe it was his, because the thought of Jimin liking somebody else would most likely have that effect on him), but he willed himself to stay strong and continue with the questions, as if nothing happened. But the more he thought of it, the more it became clear to him that, if Jimin was trying to get something off his chest that time, it meant the person he wanted to send the message to was in the room as well.

Can’t be Bogum hyung, can’t it? I mean, he’s Taehyung’s friend and we don’t really get to hang out with him often so Jimin couldn’t have possibly had… feelings for him, right? But then, that means… “Hyung.”

Without looking, Jimin responded. “Hm?”

“Are you… maybe… in love with…”

A beat of silence passed and as Jungkook studied Jimin’s face, he saw that Jimin was just plain baffled at what he said. But why? Did he think I wouldn’t find out? Did he think I wouldn’t catch on? Did he―

“No, what the hell!” Jimin broke into a fit of laughter. “You think I’d fall in love with Taehyung? That weirdo? The guy who’s sooooo gay for Bogum hyung? Don’t think so.” He laughed again but with less intensity, allowing Jungkook to let go of a breath he didn’t even know he was holding. He felt relieved for a second, before realizing that if it wasn’t Taehyung, then who was it that Jimin was in love with?

After his fit, Jimin leaned back on the sofa, still facing Jungkook, and sighed. “I do, though, have someone I have my eyes on.”

Jungkook’s heart started to race again, but he thought maybe it doesn’t ever stop racing when he’s around Jimin. Just as he was about to ask who it was, Jimin continued with, “But I don’t think I have a chance. He’s just… out of my league, I guess.” Jimin looked down and started to fiddle around with his fingers. “But it’s all good…” he muttered, more to himself than to Jungkook.

With all the alcohol in his system and thoughts just running through his brain, the brain-to-mouth filter Jungkook usually kept when Jimin was around probably deteriorated because the next thing he did was place his hands over Jimin’s fidgeting ones and said, “That’s insane, hyung. Who wouldn’t want to be with you?”

Jimin stilled and looked at their hands. Before Jungkook could take his off, Jimin looked up at him with his dazzling eyes and asked, “Really?” Jungkook just wished Jimin was still drunk enough to overlook the blush he could feeling creeping up his cheeks.

“Then… do you want to play a game with me?”

“What game?”

Back when they were just getting to know each other, it was Jungkook who first admitted that he was gay. By accident, actually, when he, Taehyung, and Jimin were out watching a movie and he forgot that Taehyung was to his left, not to his right. So he leaned over and whispered to Jimin “I’d totally hit that” when the supporting male was on the screen. When Jungkook turned to face who he thought was Taehyung, he was horrified to find out that it was Jimin, but Jimin was giggling and just replied with “I would, too” and the no questions were needed anymore.

So on one of their all-nighters, during one of their breaks, they talked about past (sexual) experiences, though Jungkook had little to offer since the only “experience” he could talk about were the ones… in front of his laptop screen. (He was a shy kid so Jimin felt like he shouldn’t pry much further.) And then Jimin confesses that he had a strategy if he was to confess to the guy he liked.

“I’d probably confess through a game.”

“A game? You mean you’d both be in front of your computers before you confess?”

“No, I mean… like, games in person. You know? A game like… chicken, most probably. ‘Cause I’m a chicken that can’t confess properly.” Jimin laughed at himself and when he didn’t stop, Jungkook felt the corners of his lips starting to lift as well. Later, he and Jimin found themselves laughing at each other, homework and exams long forgotten on the coffee table.

Apparently, while recalling that event, Jungkook spaced out a bit. He came back to his senses just as Jimin was waving a hand in front of his face. “Hello, Kookie, you there?”

He grabbed Jimin’s wrist in the air and smirked, confidence building up. “That’s a new nickname. I like it.”

“W-whatever.” The stutter Jimin made clearly meant he got flustered. Jungkook’s confidence level just kept rising and rising. “Do you want to play Chicken or not?”

Jimin frowned and brought their hands down. “Why not?”

“Because I don’t want to be a chicken anymore.”

In one bold move, he cupped both sides of Jimin’s face and brought their lips together. After a split-second to recover from the shock, Jimin started responding. He put his arms around Jungkook’s neck, and scooted closer to him, subconsciously straddling Jungkook to get a better angle. Jungkook wasted no time in securing his arms around Jimin’s waist, guiding him over to his lap without their lips ever separating.

That night, amidst all the whispers of ‘finally’ and numerous moans and groans that they exchanged, confessions were lost on tongues sliding against each other’s, marks being made on each other’s bodies, and in the heat of it all. And despite being intoxicated, both Jungkook and Jimin knew that this was what they wanted even when they become sober.

The next morning, Jungkook woke up at around 10am to the sunlight in his eyes, an empty bed, and a surprisingly minor headache, being no professional at drinking. He looked over, felt the other side of the bed and smiled to himself, remembering the flow of events the night before. He turned to the side table and saw a glass of water with some pills next to it so he decided to sit up properly. His smile widened when he saw that it was aspirin with a note underneath that said, “Drink up, I’m making breakfast” in Jimin’s neat handwriting. After obeying and taking the pills, he stood up, looked for his boxers among the clothes that were lying on the floor, and went to the kitchen.

In the corridor, while walking, he realized that he still saw Jimin’s clothes from last night on the floor, which didn’t make sense since he said on the note that he would be cooking breakfast. No way… He can’t make breakfast while he’s naked, right?

The sight that greeted him when he entered the kitchen pleased him so much, he couldn’t even begin to explain properly.

Jimin was standing near the stove, simultaneously making pancakes and cooking scrambled eggs, wearing a huge shirt that looked very familiar to Jungkook. It was his favorite shirt, the one that he’d been looking for forever, which he assumed he left after one of his all-nighters there. The shirt was so big on Jimin that the collar was sliding off his right shoulder, making something stir in Jungkook’s stomach and he’s sure it wasn’t the hunger.

He quietly strode across the floor to where Jimin was and hugged him from the back.

Jimin giggled. “Good morning,” he said without turning around to face Jungkook. In fact, he leaned back, feeling Jungkook’s strong chest against his back. “You okay?”

Jungkook hummed in response. He started peppering Jimin’s exposed shoulder with kisses, making Jimin giggle even more. Once Jimin flipped the last pancake and took the eggs out of the heat, he turned around and kissed Jungkook square on the mouth.

When they separated with bated breaths, Jungkook grinned and said, “Now that’s how you greet ‘good morning’.”

After Jungkook started helping out, they soon sat down and started eating everything Jimin made, including the bacon that was hidden from Jungkook’s view earlier because it was in the oven. They talked about what went on the night before, how none of them had any regrets whatsoever, and how they were happy staying the way they were then. ‘Dating’ would be a good classification, a good label for what they were, they agreed. It would be enough of an explanation for their friends, seeing as they weren’t the only ones who needed to explain their current relationship status.
Their peaceful breakfast (was it still breakfast?) turned into a minor food fight when Jungkook accidentally flung a piece of his pancake at Jimin and they ended up on the floor of the kitchen 30 minutes later covered in flour, maple syrup, and a bit of whipped cream on their faces, laughing their heads off at each other.

“Gross, see what you did to me, hyung?” Jungkook chuckled, assessing how sticky his skin and face felt. “Can I use one of your kitchen towels to wash this all off?”

“No! They’ll get all sticky and I won’t be doing the laundry ‘til tomorrow. That would be gross.” Jimin stuck his tongue out at Jungkook.

“Maybe you should lick this off me, then,” Jungkook teased, amazed at how comfortable he already is at making those kinds of jokes around Jimin. He laughed in relief when he saw the gleam in Jimin’s eyes as he scooted over to where Jungkook was.

“Well, don’t mind if I do.”

Obviously, they cleaned up more than just food ingredients that morning in the kitchen.

10 minutes into the lecture, Jungkook, though not the only one, rushed through the backdoor of their room and bowed when his professor caught him sneaking in.

“Jeon Jeongguk, will you ever get to class on time?” Professor Jung asked, making the whole class turn around to look at him.

His cheeks burned from the attention. “Sorry, sir, I promise this will be the last time.”

The professor just gave him a look and, along with his fellow classmates, turned back to the powerpoint presentation in front. Jungkook sat down and huffed, exhausted from the jog he had to do because he was already late to class.

But it honestly wasn’t his fault this time. Jimin was the one who asked for a round 2 in the shower. How in the world could he say no to that?
