Jeff ran away because he was afraid that someone would out him and then he couldn't play hockey anymore. Of course, once he ran away, he *also* couldn't play hockey anymore but he was still ashamed/afraid of going home.
He meets Eric in Raleigh where Eric is himself. Eric ends up making sure that Jeff has medical care when Jeff catches pneumonia, and then, Jeff moves in with Eric.
Cam is being, extremely dickish about the whole thing, especially once Jeff returns home (after a passionate night with Eric) and works hard to get drafted. -

Pat dreams about Jonny sometimes but doesn't understand why. He has a whole crisis about the hit to head turning him gay, but eventually he figures out that he and Jonny were a thing before.
