It had been that same morning when The Mighty Nein had invited him to their house. As if Essek wasn't there practically every day, whether he had been invited or not. Now, normally the invitations from The Mighty Nein came in the form of a message from Jester. Jester normally used the first words of the message to say something like “Hey, Essek, come to dinner tonight!” or “Hey, Essek, Caleb needs you, come lunch!” and then usually added some kind of cryptic series of words just so she could spend the 25 words the message consisted on, like “Did you know frogs are super duper cute?” or “What is gay, uses magic and is in love with another oblivious gay person who uses magic? It’s—”.
Stuff like that.
That morning, though, what Essek had received had been more cryptic than the average message from Jester.
“Hey, friend! Come alone to the Xhorhaus at… 6pm. We need something from you. It is a matter of life and death. Bye!”
