When faced with a Science Team who seemingly aren't affected by the events of the Resonance Cascade and everything that happened after, Gordon takes to bottling up his emotions and fears, pretending he's okay. The charade can only last for so long until it breaks, however.It wasn't fair.
After the ResCas, and everything that happened, it seemed everyone was okay and moving on. Benrey came back and was as insufferable as ever; showed up one day at Gordon's door and never left. Bubby and Dr. Coomer got officially married, and made a living fixing broken machinery and shit. Darnold and Tommy moved in together in a large ranch house and worked together on projects and experiments and what have you.
Hell. Benrey had gotten a fucking job, plus made extra money streaming. Gordon was a little fucking annoyed that they're the one living out his dream but whatever. It was fine.

Summary
Xen has always adapted to kill the unkillable. Thicker skin to combat bullets, heat seeking attacks from those who try to hide, and ranging in all sorts of shapes and sizes for different mobility and strength.
The entity who calls himself Benrey has made himself a threat to the beings of Xen by aiding the human known as Gordon Freeman in killing many of their kind. So, the beings of Xen must do what they do best and find a way to kill him as well.
(Or in other words, Benrey takes a hit and can’t get back up from it. At least, not on his own)
