It’s blue. Martin wracks his brain, trying to remember what that stands for.
Tim whistles softly. “Looks like I’m giving you the day off,” he tells Martin, thankfully without teasing. At Martin’s uncomprehending gaze, he elaborates: “Blue means If I show interest in you, go ahead and spend heat with me.”

Summary
This started out as me being frustrated with only the very beginning stages of fat body acceptance being shown in fic. I didn't want to write a "Martin hates his body until Jon makes him see how pretty he is" fic (as much as I love that trope)--in my experience while the "I hate everything about how I look, don't even touch me" stage of body acceptance happens a lot, the "I thought I was good with my body image until I realized I don't think of myself as having arms at all as a defense mechanism" stage is more real to my experience. Then this fic got completely away from me and I'm not sure I actually finished it.

1. Scarf- During a quiet moment at the archive, Jon receives an unexpected gift.
2. Fingerless Gloves- It's holiday time down in the archives, and what's a holiday without presents?
3. Socks- Jon fled the Institute without his scarf or his fingerless gloves, but thankfully he still has the socks on his feet.
4. Blanket- Jon walks out of the hospital after a six month coma with a clean bill of health, new clothes, and a blue knitted blanket.
5. Sweater- The world as they know it may have ended, but that hasn't stopped Martin from knitting.
6. Scarf (Reprise)- It's Christmas Eve morning and Martin has given Jon an early Christmas present. It's only fair that Martin gets to open one as well.

Martin forgets slowly at first, and then all at once. One moment he's grasping at memories, desperate without knowing why to retain even a single image of an angry, scarred stranger saying incomprehensible things about eyes, and the next, nothing. He can't even remember what had him so anxious just now. A car alarm, probably, or a dog barking in the distance. He's always startled easily.
