It messes with Wen Yuan’s head when he thinks about it too much. He doesn’t know what to believe, doesn’t know whether to love or hate Wei Wuxian, a man he’s never met. Sometimes it feels like that’s all they will talk about, about the morality of Wei Wuxian’s actions and how he truly had good intentions and never wanted to hurt anyone.
Wen Yuan doesn’t see why it matters so much. He’s never even seen Wei Wuxian before, for all the talk about him. He can’t even piece together a proper image of him, further than the ideas of unnaturally clawed men with horns jutting from their head. It sounds stupid, feels stupid, it’s all stupid. Wei Wuxian isn’t here right now, so why worry so much about him?
(or: in a world where both wei wuxian and the wens survive, a-yuan is a teenager, and he hates wei wuxian)

Jiang Wanyin moves a bit, Lan Wangji thinks he sees him turn, and oh.
There is Jiang Wanyin’s sternum, his stomach, his waist, very clear from Lan Wangji’s view, and there is purple. There are-- scales, spread along Jiang Wanyin’s body, trailing down to Jiang Wanyin’s lower half, and Jiang Wanyin has a tail. In place of his legs, there is a tail, a fish tail, and it is purple and gold and looks nothing short of beautiful, framed by the moonlight and the water.
Lan Wangji blinks. It is still there. Lan Wangji blinks again. It is still there.
Bed. He should go to bed.
(or: jiang cheng is a mermaid and lan wangji has Feelings about that)
