This fic is absolutely marvelous. The author's summary describes it well as it really is about all these various combinations of characters going to the pub over and over again and having conversations about their respective lives (past, present, and future). Draco & Harry start it, but then bring in various of their respective friends. There are laugh out loud moments in this, plus some moving ones. If you're in it for the Drarry, be warned that Harry and Draco don't really "get together" until the very end of this piece, even though their friendship is at the heart of the story; I suspect that's one reason I put off reading this one as long as I did despite enjoying plenty of other stories by lettered, because I'd heard it was more of a gen tale.

Parkinson turned back to Harry. “I had a terrible childhood too. I suppose I could tell you my story, about how I was lonely and spoiled and rich, but you would never understand, having been raised in a cupboard. It’s just like every other spoiled rich girl’s story. I suppose Draco has already told you his.”

Harry shook his head. “Malfoy almost never talks about being a spoiled rich girl.”

Malfoy made an odd coughing sound. Harry was pretty sure it had started out as a laugh.

“Doesn’t he.” Parkinson stirred her drink.

“Pansy,” Malfoy said, in a warning tone.

“We used to play together as children,” Parkinson said, and there it was, a third expression―she was smiling, slightly, at Malfoy. “Remind me to tell you about his dungarees.”

Pansy.” Malfoy put his head in his hands.

    “Dungarees?” Harry said, laughing.

    Summary

Bond stares at him. There are two men tied up against the wall and four more lying on the floor, bleeding and hogtied with duct tape.

“I ran out of rope after the first two,” Q admits.

Q likes Edith Piaf and has a pet boa constrictor and is a badass. Bond is . . . Bond and a known badass. Seems like it's not a 00Q fic without Q abducted at least once and Bond presumed dead at least once and yet those things don't get old when it's a well-written fic with interesting characterization like this one.

The thing is – Bond hasn’t really been close to anyone since Vesper. His M is dead, so his friends number in the zero range.

At least, they do, until they don’t. Until suddenly, Moneypenny – Eve, now – is loudly complaining to him about paperwork while she hands him a USB drive, both of them using an enormous metal door as a shield from gunfire. Until Tanner is smiling a tiny smile, like he knows something nobody else does, when he discovers Bond in the weight room at two in the morning; someone is always awake in this place. Until even the new M – Bond thinks it’ll be a while before he’s just M, not the “new” M – is getting less short with him, either willingly or necessarily ignoring Bond’s tendency towards low respect for authority.

And Q – well, Q is something different entirely, isn’t he?
