    the what-if story where despite everything, kaeya ends up dead by diluc's blade in their ensuing fight after he tells him the truth.

    the tsaritsa looks at him, pityingly. "he was one of mine, you know. he loved you so much and he was so beautifully heartbroken that i couldn't bear to leave him alone. and you killed him."

    but even love can wither in the face of hate - heart flowers that were so carelessly, thoughtlessly plucked out and discarded, leaving nothing but wilted stems behind. a ghost of what they used to be.

    a tragedy told in three chapters, through a journey of regret, reflection and reconciliation. main dish of angsty diluc and sad ghost kaeya as they eventually find their way back to each other, with a side of ghost-whisperer ice bro chongyun and protective rock overlord zhongli in later chapters.
