Yibo has spent the past ten minutes polishing it until the wood gleams under yellow lightbulbs, reflecting brilliant spots where an hour before, stains and fingerprints had muddied the surface. It’s unexpected when slim fingers edge into the periphery of his vision and tap lightly on the counter.
“A negroni, please.”
Yibo’s gaze travels perfunctorily from hand to arm to shoulder to face. It takes him a moment to realize that this is a face he knows.
