    Summary

Exhausted, nearly propping his eyes open with his fingers to stay awake, Joe takes the time to do one last thing: He sends an email overflowing with gratitude to the owner of the food blog who has saved his life these last few weeks. By the time he realises he forgot to sign his name, Joe has already started to drool onto his pillow.

Andy and Quynh’s engagement party is full of fond memories for Joe; it’s where he met the man who might be the love of his life, and thanks to a helpful food blog, it’s the event that finally taught him to cook. Now if only the owner of that blog wasn’t such a jerk...

“They’re not together. Not like that.”

There was a quiet pause, then Nile snorted. “Bullshit,” she said. “Come on, you’re having me on, right?”

“I’m afraid not,” said Booker, stopping in front of the wine racks and turning to look at her. “They are just very close friends.”

Nicky and Joe never actually managed to get together and so have spent 900 years pining over each other and coming up with angsty poetry. Booker is 100% done.

    Summary

It’s an old building, the layout strange and the walls thick. It’s cold most of the time, but the kitchen and living room window gets sunlight in the mornings until noon. If Nicky cranes his neck a bit past the neighbour’s balcony, which is overflowing with plants and inexplicably built half in front of his window, he can get a glimpse of the sea.

    -

He’s caught by surprise by golden light falling over his balcony as he steps out. He follows its direction to find his neighbour sitting at his window with a plate in his lap, chewing on his dinner. There’s a second of awkward silence when Joe, tired and in a terrible outfit with a canteen in hand blinks at his neighbour, comfortably sitting in his window with what looks like a delicious dinner. They stare at each other through the scant two metres that separate them.
