Summary
Donghyuck thought the worst of it would be over once the new year has passed, the Grand Prix done and everyone’s focus shifted toward the regional competitions coming up in the spring. He certainly was not expecting to wake up on a cold January Monday, ankle aching and mood already low, to his name trending on Naver. He frowns at his phone before he clicks on it, wondering if maybe there is a new up-and-coming idol who shares his name or something of the sort.
Instead of entertainment news, the screen reads: “Sport: Confirmation of Lee Donghyuck’s end? Kim Sonwoo takes on a new student.” “Sport: Liu Yangyang to transfer mid-season. A replacement for Lee Donghyuck in Kim’s Sonwoo’s team?” “Is Lee Donghyuck out for good?” “Lee Donghyuck: proof of the end of his career?”
(Donghyuck injures his ankle and loses a full season of figure skating. To make matters worse, he is tasked with being assistant coach to the newest addition to their team, Liu Yangyang.)

this is a story full of such palpable emotion in the best way possible. i really, truly recommend this to everyone with an enthusiasm for 1) ice skating, 2) yangyang, 3) emotional conflict and resolution. Really, really well written. Fantastic! OP shattered my heart and then taped it back together again

On June 19th last year, a storm passed through our small town, leaving behind severe damages to our buildings and homes. Many businesses went out of order due to fires, crumblings, and floods that affected their shops. Nearly a hundred people lost their homes under the same circumstances, along with their cars and other personal belongings. The true loss, however, is that of five youths who went missing during the storm: Huang Renjun, Lee Jeno, Lee Donghyuck, Na Jaemin, and Liu Yangyang. Now, we commemorate their lives through a special ceremony to be held at the Town Square on June 19th, on the anniversary of the tragic event.

There are so many little moments in here that just chilled me to the bone. You'll be in the middle of what you think is a normal scene and then casually the wind chimes are made out of human rib bones and the reality of the situation slams back into you with the force of several semi-trucks. In short, you HAVE to read it y'all I can't rec this fic enough.

Summary
What Jaemin expects from this marriage: Nothing. Maybe for his life to eventually come apart one by one until it eventually crumbles.
What Jaemin gets instead: A wonderful husband in the form of Lee Mark, who's patient, and is too good for Jaemin's own good.
Or, Jaemin and Mark get arranged to marry each other, and they somehow find ways to make it work through the cracks of their marriage.

“Some of you may remember Agent Thirteen from your time as trainees. Real name Na Jaemin, born in Seoul on 13 August 2000, age twenty-two. He had been an operative under the NCT programme for six years when he went off the grid two years ago, presumed to be dead.” Irene pauses, letting the word hang in the air.
“However, some of our informants have spotted Jaemin days ago, in Daegu.” She clicks the remote and the image shifts to a blurry photo of a figure with dark hair under a face mask. Hunched under a thick coat, a hat covering most of his head, the figure shouldn’t be recognisable, and yet. And yet, Jeno could probably recognise Jaemin in his sleep, by sheer gravitational pull. The feeling in his gut says, that’s Jaemin, and that’s all he needs to know. He’s spent too many years honing his instincts not to trust them now.

read this if you want to cry.... the setup of NCT in this is so terrifyingly compelling. all the problems these spies face (overwork, messed up relationships, failed dreams) mirrors the idol industry and good lord an open ending on top of that? op wrote this with me in mind this is gorgeous
