Three years after the Connor Project. Evan tries to send a heartfelt apology to Jared.
It's been ten years since the incident with the Connor Project, and everyone is settling into their own lives. Well, they're trying to. Mistake after mistake, misfortune after misfortune, it seems that Evan, Jared, Zoe, and Alana are followed by bad luck that can't be shaken off. When it starts to threaten their lives, Zoe starts to wonder if Connor really is gone. The former friends might have to meet up and get past their differences to finish what they've started.
Jared coughed uncontrollably, lifting his head and clutching his throat tightly, attempting to let in as much air as possible. When it finally calmed down just a little bit, he looked up and felt disgusted by his own reflection.
He looked pitiful, his clothes disheveled, hair unruly, face red and stained with tears that just kept coming. God, he was a mess. He let out a choked sob, sinking to his knees.
The cold tile on his knees, completely ruined appearance, and the feeling of shame deep inside him instantly brought back memories that he wished he could forget.
There's one bad thing about loudly ending a friendship in the high school bathrooms. Besides the smell, so that's two bad things.
Neither Jared nor Evan saw that there was someone in a stall. Or that he had recorded the whole thing. Recorded Evan yelling that Jared wrote the emails.
And all that there was left to do was pick one of them to blackmail, and the fun begins.
There's the one who's practically famous now, everyone loves him. And then there's the one who lost his only friend.
It's clear who the easy target is. And with a threat as good as this, he doesn't have to do his homework for the rest of the year. And that's just the beginning.

So maybe, just maybe, Evan Hansen should have trusted Zoe Murphy about her 'allegedly' crazy older brother.
And maybe Evan should have gone with his instincts about his family friend, Jared Kleinman.
When Evan wakes up tied to a chair after falling asleep in Jared's car, he knows something's wrong. Something that he can't quite put his finger on.
Until Jared Kleinman and Connor Murphy appear- and Evan knows that he's in deep shit.
(honestly just an excuse to write dark shit okay)
if you're uncomfortable with any of the tagged things, just don't read it. if you do read, though, it's a judge-free zone. we're all fucked up in one way or another.
