Summary
Deep inside your body, rattling your bones, drinking the blood in your veins and feasting on your flesh, there is an ancient, vengeful hunger, passed down through generations of women in your bloodline. Sometimes it knows his name. Sometimes it knows it wants him, and that he is all that it craves. Other times, you can’t stop yourself from parting your thighs, gathering the blood that collects there when the moon is highest and smearing it across your body just to feel a shadow of the warmth you imagine beats from his body.
Sometimes that hunger leaves you feeling like there’s a fetal lamb at the mouth of your den, and you’re a wolf, ready to tear the innocence limb from limb. And sometimes, you think that if he were your own beating heart, you’d tear your ribcage apart with your bare hands just to feel him pulsing in your palms. And even if it's a sin, you think that you’d gladly trade your soul... for his.
OR
From the day you were born, Caleb has been the only one in your sect to treat you like a real person, not just a vessel for worship. As your feelings for him grow, you can’t bury them under meaningless scripture no matter how much you pray. You want to love him, even at the cost of your soul.
