Summary
He had heard plenty of stories of Amphoreus’s demigods and their divine mandate, of their mission to assemble a force of the most worthy heroes in the hopes of ushering in the Era Nova. In those stories, the heroes were noble and brave, capable of shouldering the hopes of an entire world. They carried the lofty, unattainable wishes of the present into a distant future.
But what Phainon wanted was simple and hardly worth the weight of the world. He hoped the boy two bunks down from him recovered from his injury quickly. He hoped the girl at the fruit stand would save up enough to buy a copy of her favorite book. He hoped Tribbie would like the next story he’d tell them.
He hoped—as silly as it was—that someday, he might see Aglaea smile the way she used to.
In Aglaea's final moments, Phainon grieves, remembers, and continues on.

Summary
Diluc knows how these dreamscapes work. He knows that it'll all dissolve at the end of the day; he knows that his actions in this realm, carefully crafted to tempt him, exist solely in a vacuum. He can refuse to be swayed and brush Kaeya off. He can leave him behind and look for the exit on his own, and any lingering hurt and bitterness will be nothing more than a transient blip in the universe, a paltry emotion lost to the yawning, meandering expanse of the ley lines. It won't matter. Nothing matters here.
He reaches down and takes Kaeya's hand, still soft and stubby with youth. He squeezes gently. After a long moment, Kaeya—confused, hesitant, scared—squeezes back.
"Sorry about that," Diluc says. "Let's go find Father."
Diluc gets the chance to meet a younger Kaeya and maybe—finally—start to come to terms with everything.

This is the second time he’s had to clean Kaeya’s blood off his hands in five years, the second time someone else has carried Kaeya away from his home. This time, though, he’s watching it happen: he’s not storming away with rain pouring down his face, icicles biting into his fingers like jagged nails. The realization sits heavy in Diluc’s stomach.

Even the Lux Arrow streaking across the sky cannot inspire the kind of overawed terror this boy instills in him. Mouth dry, Jing Yuan smiles shakily and attempts a delicate rejection, clasping one of those tiny outstretched hands to lower it. But when the kid realizes what’s happening, his crestfallen expression makes Jing Yuan feel like someone has run a sword straight through his heart, and he folds like wet paper, gathering the child up in his arms.
Jing Yuan’s sudden reversal has the child giggling with delighted surprise, and oh.
Oh.
There is a boy whose smile is brighter than the rising sun.
Yanqing grows up. To Jing Yuan, it is like watching a dawn that does not fade.
