Amy and Kirsten, colleagues at the police station, share a much more personal connection. Believe it or not, it all started with a hot chocolate...
"In truth, it all had started with her rejecting to help an unknown colleague, because “now it’s not a good time”, but getting a hot chocolate in exchange anyway. DS Kristen Longacre, she didn’t know her back then, had accosted her when she had gone to the vending machines to get a drink, clearly wearing her headphones (only one, she was still at work) in case anybody got an idea of talking to her. But contrary to what everybody else did by then, Kirsten hadn’t dropped the attempts at talking to her once Amy had said it wasn’t a good moment. To be honest, since Iain, it never was a good moment. And she really meant it, and felt it. She wasn’t being dismissive, just honest. But that charming insistence, that kickback hot chocolate, got her talking… How? It was still a mystery to herself. Five minutes, she had conceded, only five minutes…"
This is just a little exploration of the relationship between DCI Amy Silva and DS Kirsten Longacre we learn about through the flashbacks. Canon, but started to write before the series/show ended, so some things may prove wrong.
