Summary
Contains spoilers for The Last of Us Part 2
Revenge was never the right word for it. Calling it obligation makes it feel like something that is put upon you. What drove you to leave wasn't an outside pressure, at least not anymore. It was a growling monster inside of you, driving you to focus on one thing and one thing only. But that one thing is gone now, a thing that left in a fleeting moment of clarity.
Now you have nothing. You were always sure when you didn't know where to go, your feet would bring you home. But your home is gone. The building is there, but it's not a home without the people in it. What the fuck are you supposed to do now?

Summary
There was a crash of thunder and the explosion hit Alex again. It was a searing pain in her chest. She could see the fire from the explosion and the darkness that came afterward. When her eyes adjusted, she saw Maggie on the ground.
Alex had crawled across the ground, glass cutting into her hands and shards of wood digging into her knees. She could see the blood. There was so much of it.
The feeling overcame her again. Alex crumbled into the damp floor and looked at the spot on the concrete that still held the shadows of the pool around Maggie.

Summary
Alex looked back at the house, knowing it was saturated with awful memories for Maggie. It worried her. “If you’re not, we have a motorcycle. We can drive as far as it takes,” she assured Maggie. She wanted to put her arm around her ex, but the lines were blurry, and it was late at night.
Maggie nodded. “Thank you.” She started to reach for Alex’s knee, but stopped herself halfway. She folded her hands together in her lap. “For everything. You didn’t have to come all the way out here for me.” She tilted her head in a way that was familiar and warm, her hair falling around her neck and away from her face.
Alex took a bold move and placed her hands on top of Maggie’s. “I’ve always got your back.”

“There!” Maze loudly exclaimed and pointed at Linda. “It happened again.”
“What happened?” Chloe asked, looking at Linda. “I didn’t see anything.”
“The poison only seems to work on Mazikeen,” Lucifer put his hands behind his back and leaned close to Linda’s face. “She says that she feels weak and like she can’t breathe. It only seems to work when Linda looks at her which seems to indicate some kind of optical projection.” -

Summary
She couldn’t pinpoint where the sound had come from and the rain beating on the windows echoed off of every solid, modern design choice in the apartment, drowning out any sound smaller than a slap.
“Alex?” she called softly.
There was another sniffle, but no words. It was a louder sound, an attempt to gather herself into some kind semblance of a person.
