I have never expected anything.”
“I’m sorry,” Wei Wuxian breathed, “that I’m—that I wasn’t someone you could just give this to, without circumspection. That I don’t know how to take a compliment. It’s ugly in me. I’m sorry you were lonely,” he said, realising his chest was shaking with tears. “I’m so sorry I left you. I’m sorry you find me so ill-prepared.”
