“I saw you hours ago,” Sander said, fondness seeping into every syllable.
Robbe rustled at the other end of the line. He was probably in bed, shrouded in blankets like always, the phone cradled against his face providing the room’s only light. Sander had the sudden urge to be there too–wrapped in Robbe’s blankets like a nest, feet tangled together, the moon highlighting the faintest outlines of Robbe’s face. He shivered, and the image left his mind.
“I know,” Robbe mumbled. “Just…wanted to hear your voice. To make sure you got home okay.”
“Just felt like saying hi?” Sander teased, slipping into his own bed. He suddenly regretted leaving the window open on the night out, the cool fall air having turned his room frigid.
