    Summary

His father wasn’t stupid. He was an officer of the law, trained to look for patterns. He confronted Stiles about werewolves and they shouted and Stiles tried to explain but his father was so, so, so mad, more mad than Stiles had ever seen him, ever in all his life and then his father looked at him and said,

“It’s like you’re not my son anymore.”

    And Stiles broke.

    Summary

They didn’t expect to see each other again. After the smoke cleared, there was no reason to. They’d won. That was it. They weren’t like the Avengers. They weren’t a team by any measure. But Hell’s Kitchen is a small place after all, and it’s hard to avoid someone when they work only a few streets over and use the same laundromat. It’s harder to avoid getting attached to someone when you start to notice, over time, the places where your jagged edges line up.

The absolute hardest thing to do is lie to yourself. Even if your name is Matthew Murdock or Jessica Jones. The truth always makes its way to the surface. Sometimes it’s an ugly truth. Sometimes it’s much simpler, but in it’s own way more terrifying. Sometimes the truth is, despite anything previously said to the contrary, despite the fact that they weren’t part of a team, despite the fact that none of this was expected or intentional, you don’t want someone to go.

Sometimes you want them to stay.

    Summary

To 'treat someone with kid gloves', implies gentle handling. Gloves made of kid-leather were fine and soft, and regularly used to handle precious things. Some people believe it is a boxing analogy, to wear the gloves of kids, but this is a misconception.
