25 Days of Drarry WIP by the wonderful kittyfic with Auror partners Harry and Draco. Oh yes, and Draco might be approaching his heat ;) One chapter in and it's already filled with all the tropey goodness I adore (the tags!! \O/)

    [excerpt]:
Being near Harry, surrounded by his scent day in and day out, is both pleasure and pain. It makes his days easier, but only makes the lonely nights more miserable, especially each month during his peripheral heats—and Draco can already guess he’s not in for a fun time being away from Harry during his upcoming Prime Heat.

    Summary

Cora inclines her head pointedly and he realises he’s half perched on the deck chair, ready to leap up and fight at a moment's notice. Or run. He shrugs out of his dad’s jacket, folding it over the edge of the chair, and then crosses his arms.

He’s relaxed, okay? He took the jacket off. He’s plenty relaxed.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Derek visits Cora down in South America. After Stiles kills Donovan in self-defense, he ends up on their doorstep. Stiles is only there for a week, but it's all that's needed for him to worm his way past Derek's defenses and for both to open their hearts. Told from Derek's POV, his voice mature and nuanced and the prose gorgeously atmospheric. Open, but hopeful, ending.

    [excerpt]
For a moment he’s not quite sure what he’s seeing.

    “Stiles?”

He’s got nothing but a backpack slung across one shoulder and there’s this new, unsettled look in his eyes. He hasn’t showered for a least two days and his hair is unkempt and sticking up on one side like he’d fallen asleep on the plane and hadn’t noticed. His face kind of tightens up at the sight of Derek though, and he doesn’t get a chance to ask what the hell is going on before an explanation is tumbling out of his mouth.

“I killed someone,” Stiles bursts out, coughing up the words like a poison. “It was self-“

“Okay,” Derek says and steps aside to let him in.

And Stiles’ face, just kind of crumples as if it’s what he’d expected, but didn’t think he deserved and Derek worries he’s said the wrong thing when Stiles starts to laugh, drawn out and breathlessly stilted.

“Of course,” he gasps. “Of course you would say that.”

Steter Historical AU. Peter is a guest/slash hostage of Deucalion. Stiles is the bedwarmer Deucalion provides him. Brilliantly written; the dialogue and wordplay between Stiles and Peter was sharp and cutting, humorous and witty, and downright beautiful. The author wields such a deft hand with historical language and traditions and experience--enough to immerse the reader in this fabulous world without bogging the story down with too much information. The twists and turns never stopped coming, it was a fabulous lesson in plotting, story-crafting, and characterization. I loved every moment of this.

    [excerpt]:
Peter finished wiping up. “If King Deucalion is so cautious of his daughter’s virtue, he might take more care in choosing his bedwarmers,” he observed. “Choosing ones that have interest in men, for instance.” He dropped the cloth into the basin.

“Oh, I have, my lord,” Stiles assured him.

    “Have what?”

    “Interest in men, my lord.”

Peter pinched the bridge of his nose. He might get that headache after all. “Then why, pray tell, do you see fit to make such a protest of your current occupation? You have interest in men. I am young and, dare I say, not unattractive.” He turned and held his arms wide that Stiles might assess his appeal.

“Not unattractive at all, my lord,” Stiles agreed.

“Then what about me do you find distasteful, Stiles?”

Stiles smiled at him. “The name, for a start.”

Brilliant and gorgeous story about the physical emotional scars we may wear and healing and growth. Harry's voice is pitch-perfect and Draco is a revelation. Amazingly written, with evocative descriptions on a grand scale as well as intimate revelations. Plus, with beautiful art. ALL. THE. FEELS. I'm blown away.

    [excerpt]:
Harry needs a moment to process the question. “I’m not a trainer anymore. But if you meant to ask if I’m sick, then the answer would be yes.” There’s a little, dissatisfied downward twist on Malfoy’s lips, and Harry tries to keep his tone more amicable despite the pressure in his ribcage. “I’m here to try a different approach. They couldn’t help me at St Mungo’s or anywhere else, really, so I’m trying my luck with the hot springs of Iceland. Even so I’m not sure how water is supposed to help me all that much.” Harry touches his hand to his own chest where a lightning-shaped scar pales his skin and disrupts his black chest hair. Malfoy’s eyes flicker over the whole length of it, but he remains silent. “How about you?” Harry asks him. “Is this some kind of stuck-up pureblood ritual?”

Finally, Malfoy’s grumpy face lit up with a smirk. “It might as well be. I’m sure my grandmother would be proud of me for coming here. Actually, I’m quite a regular. I’ve been coming here once a year—twice whenever I can make the time. The waters are full of vulcanic minerals. It’s like magic is gushing right out of the ground.”

“That’s what the druid that sent me here said.”

“Well, they’re right.” There’s a brief silence before Malfoy speaks again. “I’m here to heal as well.”

Such a lovely story. Beautifully drawn, with incredible details that make the library come alive, along with some really touching moments between Harry and Draco. (also: Herbie as wingman rocks!)

    [excerpt]:
It had been ages since Harry’d come by without a terrible joke or flirtatious remark in hand. Draco had already prepared a retort for the day, though he couldn't recall it after that. But that was what came from assuming things. And Harry needed time alone, when he got in those moods. The air he left behind felt charged and smelled like ozone, but he'd taken the dampening badge this time, so he wouldn't risk damaging the books again if he was that upset. So, Draco had noted the time, sat back down, and tried to carry on.

“Close enough to call, do you think?” Draco glanced at the crow skull resting near his name plate. It had arrived a few years back and served as the key to an unassuming binder of papers containing the original notes for Felix Felicis. In other words, the skull was very important, and so Harry, of course, named it ‘Herbie’ and gave it a small top hat once while Draco had a slash. It did look dapper that way. Less disturbing. And it increased security, really. People had little interest in well-dressed oddities.

Draco took Herbie’s silence as agreement that yes, Draco’d waited long enough.
