    Summary

Stiles gets very good at putting himself back together. He learns which cuts just need butterfly bandages and which need actual stitches and he knows to keep a needle threaded because trying to get everything ready when you're shaking from blood loss is fucking hard. (Not impossible though, he learns that too. There's not much that is impossible when you don't have any other options.)

Post 5A - Stiles may not be in the pack anymore, but that doesn't mean he's going to stop fighting.

    Summary

Shane looks down at the medallion in his hand. He doesn’t know why he’s kept it, all these years. He doesn’t know why he’s kept it so close, always on hand. He should have sold it years and years ago, but he never quite managed to get around to it, and now here he is, in the burning building that is his whole life, with nothing else.

Over the groaning of collapsing wood, he hears Ryan’s voice: “Shane? Shane? Shane!”

He sounds breathless, like he’s been running. Shane kicks down the cracking front door and exits to the street, tucking the medallion into his back pocket. Ryan is standing right in front of the door, as if he had been about to run inside.

“Tell you what, Ryan, you really know how to make an entrance,” he says, brushing ash off the front of his shirt and hoping that he’s managed to keep most of the bitterness out of his voice. “So was ruining my life once just like, not enough for you?”

“I know you’re sitting over there, probably like, ‘oh, Ryan’s such an idiot, he’s afraid of ghosts but not serial killers.’”

“I’m thinking your sense of self-preservation is a sham. You absolutely seek out things that you believe are a danger to your person.”

“And you're so incredibly invested in my person?”

“I am! I enjoy your person. I would like it not to be carved up and put on a Christmas display.”

Ryan laughs, and Shane can’t begin to fathom how that’s even remotely funny.

    or

Ryan wants to investigate a case that's just a little too recent for Shane's tastes.

He looked up to find Peter in the doorway, eyes wide in the gloom, and suddenly he remembered where he was — in Peter’s apartment, in Peter’s bed wrapped in Peter’s sheets, because Peter had threatened to web him to the mattress if he didn’t stop volunteering for the couch.

"You okay?" Peter said, creeping forward. "You were shouting."

    Summary

Rogue comes to terms with her name, what happened on the Statue of Liberty, the people in her head, and the choice of the Cure.

Character study of Rogue that touches the first three movies, with references to X-Men: First Class.

Excerpt: On a whim she drives down the street she was born on, the street she grew up on. There are a few fathers mowing the lawns, patches of green, and little boys in overalls run around the porch, weaving between the legs of moms coming back from church in their fine linen gloves and pearls and the daughters in white chiffon dresses and pink ribbons wound around their hats. She tries to think if one of the men wiping sweat from their receding hairlines is her father, if one of the women brushing the dirt smudge off their son's cheek is her mother and a baby brother she’ll never meet, if one of the girls crouched in the grass making daisy chain crowns is the replacement daughter who’s not a freak.
