Summary
Eames’s Zoom background is a beach, his t-shirt-covered torso hovering rather realistically between a lounge chair and an umbrella. Of course, Arthur finds himself thinking, even though he’s known of Eames’s existence for only about three hours and has never actually seen the man until now. Arthur’s own background is his home office, which is lined with built-in walnut bookcases. In gallery view, he and Eames look utterly ridiculous side-by-side. A study in contrasts.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Eames,” Arthur starts, deciding he might as well attempt to be polite.
But: “It’s just Eames, pet,” is what Eames says back. And then, in defiance of all Arthur’s attempts at professionalism, he purrs, “And it’s a pleasure.”

Summary
“Here,” Eames says, holding out the note. He watches Arthur’s face intently as he reads the piece of paper, on which Eames has written, Darling, I’ve been a complete idiot.
“Signed and dated,” Eames says. “For your file on me.”

Summary
“I just want to know,” Arthur says, gesturing with the phone he’s been holding out since Ariadne entered his office, “why this person keeps texting me about being my ‘number neighbor.’”
Ariadne finally takes the phone from his hand and reads through the text thread, her eyes going wider as she mutters “pet” and “darling” and “kitten”. Arthur knows how she feels.

Summary
The first surprise is that Aziraphale wakes up. Actually, he supposes, working backwards, the first surprise was that he fell asleep at all. He knows Crowley sleeps—Crowley likes to luxuriate in all those little human indulgences—but sleep has never had much appeal for Aziraphale. There is still, six thousand years on, too much of the world he wants to be awake for.

Summary
“Darling,” Eames murmurs. “Come home with me for Christmas.”
The hum of Eames’s voice in Arthur’s ear—the trail of his lips on Arthur’s ear—feels so good Arthur doesn’t process the actual words, at first.
Then they penetrate his brain and Arthur sits bolt upright.

Summary
For six thousand years, Aziraphale did his best to exist within the strictures of Heavenly conduct. It wasn’t a perfect practice; his relationship with Crowley, just for example, was never exactly what one might call “officially sanctioned,” or even, “particularly wise,” but the important thing was that Aziraphale tried. He wasn’t a very good angel, but he did his best, more or less. Wasn’t that all anyone could really ask of him?
It doesn’t really feel fair, is the point, that in reward for saving the world, Aziraphale seems to be having something of an existential crisis.

Summary
Aziraphale saw him sometimes in all-staff meetings, sitting toward the front but off to the side, lounging against a wall. Even then, he’d had style—wings tipped in gold and face painted with gold flakes in the pattern of the first constellation he designed. He was amazing, and eye-catching, and it was no exaggeration to say that he did not know Aziraphale even existed.
