The time is 2020. Severus and Hermione have been domestic partners for eight years, Severus being a superb stepdad for Rose and Hugo growing up. But during the past year, Snape and Hermione’s relationship has suffered its first truly rocky phase. Something is wrong with Hermione, and she seems to be on the verge of snapping. Severus is terrified that the woman who’s been his anchor is losing her foothold on reality, and they both end up spiralling. Will their connection survive the pain of midlife growth and transformation? Taking cues from Dolly Parton songs for inspiration, this fic aspires to fill a need for heartening mid-life love stories featuring our favorite couple.
Warnings: Medical issues, mental health issues, substance use, memory loss, childcare, divorce type stuff, relationship stress, Ron being shitty.
