Hecate gulped for entirely unrelated reasons, obviously. She might as well say it, she mused, it would make Pippa laugh and she did so enjoy the sound when it was genuine and not at her expense.

Hecate and Pippa have a chat after the birthday pageant, there are cute and happy moments to be drawn out and recounted, but the worry of Miss Cackle's trial the next day looms.

A tinsey example scene that's probably inconsistent with canon where I used Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the (sorry) death of Hedwig to convey a point while working on explaining ways fanfiction is beneficial to readers and writers for my senior thesis. Not entirely fic, situated as meta.
