Summary
Humans are like water glasses. The water, that most elusive of things, is made of memories--people, events, words--all of them negative. Most glasses are only filled halfway. Some lucky ones only sustain a drop or two. And the most unlucky of us--the Edgar Allen Poes and Vincent Van Goghs--are filled all the way to the top.
But what happens, we wonder, when a glass overflows?...
And the circus came crumbling down.

Summary
The Circus is up and running again, excited audiences coming in like mad. They've got money again, the fire is barely a distant memory and both the performances and their popularity are better than ever before. So why are both Barnum and Carlyle's personal lives tearing at the seams?
Acting can be addictive and whether it's spinning illusions on a stage or living up to the expectations of society if you get to used to the act you can lose your true feelings along the way.

Summary
For Carlyle, discovering he liked men had never been easy. And for Barnum, going out with someone from the upper class wasn't easy, either. It was all bound to go up in flames at some point.

Summary
Phillip shrugs a shoulder, trying to dismiss the whole thing. “You don’t need to make it seem so significant,” he mutters a little petulantly, staring into the bottom of his glass. Suddenly he has no taste for the remaining alcohol.
“Phillip.” The man leans forward conspiratorially across the table. “You’ve just told me you’ve never had an orgasm, how is that not significant?”
