Summary
Thanatos, as a favor for his coworker and friend, Achilles, goes to Elysium to check on a shade and ensure the terms of his contract were upheld.
Turns out, Thanatos likes spending time in Elysium with Patroclus, and so offers to start taking messages between the two shades. He can't change their circumstances, but he can at least ignore his own growing feelings for the two shades and carry their words to one another.
And this works fine... until Patroclus asks him to bring a message of a different sort to Achilles...

Summary
When Patroclus died, he was still angry with Achilles - angry at him for dragging them to war, angry at him for refusing to fight, angry at him for his pride.
Patroclus knows this isn't entirely fair, so he settles into his afterlife, content knowing he had plenty of time to work through his feelings before he saw Achilles again - after all, it took a lot to kill a mostly-invulnerable demigod.
