    Summary

"Ever since he had gotten hold of Jon’s selkie coat, though, all he’d had to do was smile crookedly and Jon would reliably feel a strange compulsion to do anything Martin wanted.
The thing was—even though he had the ability to control Jon’s every move, Martin only seemed interested in encouraging him to do the most banal things. He kept insisting that Jon take a bit of extra breakfast in the mornings, and had even bought him a water bottle on one of his trips out to get groceries that he would squeeze little slices of lemon into every morning, saying Jon looked like they were about to keel over from dehydration at any moment.
At least, that had been the general trend in his behaviour until just yesterday, when he’d done something to make Jon seek him and his stupidly handsome face out from across the room and watch as he slid their coat across the table towards Sasha and Tim, letting them pet at it as if it was something to be passed around and laughing about where he’d found it. And then Martin had had the nerve to glance up and meet his eyes with one of his soft grins..."

Or: Jon thinks Martin is controlling them using their sealskin. In truth, Jon's just fallen madly in love with him.

    Summary

There is something Lonely haunting the empty Blackwood house. He is a strange creature without name, and he has not settled into death with anger or spite, but with a quiet acceptance of a dismal, eternal truth: that he was unloved while alive, and so he shall remain in death.

That is, of course, until Jonathan Sims.

    Summary

When Jon, Sasha, and Tim take over the Magnus Institute archives in 2015, it comes with rumours of a ghost which Jon immediately dismisses. But a little research shows that someone did disappear from the Institute - a library assistant with few distinguishing features and even fewer connections - and he becomes a side project for the fracturing archival team, bringing them together over the mystery of who Martin Blackwood was, and what happened to him in 2003. As they find out more about the missing man, odd incidents start to occur around the archives, and to get ever more inexplicable...

By all means, look into the mysteries buried in the stacks. Just don't be surprised when they start looking back.

    Summary

It was not because of Prince Martin that Jon signed the contract. Jon could admit to himself that regardless of their childhood friendship he barely knew the man now. He was pining after a stranger whose life he saved, and he was not such a hopeless romantic that he would truly throw over everything for a Prince.

Jon wasn’t certain that he loved Prince Martin, but he was certain that he loved the humans. The study of them absorbed him wholly. If all he got out of this contract was a lifetime of mutely watching the humans, it would be more than a fair trade. That there was the possibility of True Love with a handsome prince thrown into the bargain was… what was the human term? Icing on the muffin? No, that didn’t sound right. What even was a muffin?

He shook off the thoughts, eyed the eight-limbed woman floating in the grotto, holding the contract. Could he really do this?

“Go on,” Annabelle said. “Your future awaits.”

Thinking of sunlight and sand, of poetry and muffins and the thousand things he was sure to learn on the first day, Jon took the quill and reached out and signed his name.

Annabelle’s smile was broad, white teeth flashing brightly. “A merman no more. You won’t regret this.”
