Summary
“Damn it, Merlin,” Arthur hissed as the mouth returned, hotter, wetter, more insistent. “Stop. I’m working.”
“I know, I know,” Merlin answered cheerfully, not stopping at all. If anything, he redoubled his efforts, one hand gently rolling Arthur’s balls while his mouth worked the length with single-minded devotion. “Taxes to collect. Lands to grant. Titles to bestow. Trade rules to argue over… blah blah blah. The noble duties of a king.”

Summary
“Gwaine,” Merlin informed, and he was just teasing Arthur, trying to rile him up about his ego. “Is the whole package.”
“Gwaine has the concentration span of a newborn lamb.” Arthur declared, angry, and Merlin rolled his eyes.
Arthur has an unreadable expression as his eyes dart over to look at Gwaine, then back at Merlin.
He scoffed and grabbed his own sword before marching onto the field, Merlin watching as he dropped his hands off his waist, rolling his eyes exasperatedly at Arthur’s constant peacocking.

Those horrible, grief-stricken moments when you know you’re damned, but not quite yet. When you stand on an unlit pyre, waiting for the flames.
But they never come.

Summary
Arthur was jolted back to reality by a gentle touch. Merlin had taken his hands in his, as though to separate them. In an attempt to soothe himself, Arthur had rolled his mother’s ring around his index finger with so much force that he’d scratched at the skin, leaving an angry red circle on his finger. He hadn’t even realised he’d been doing it before Merlin drew attention to it.
Then, Merlin took another step and engulfed Arthur in his arms. “I know you don't like hugs, but let me hold you for once,” he whispered in Arthur’s ear. “You'll feel better afterwards; you’ll see.”
⚔𐀪𐀪⚔
Arthur has learned to repress his emotions from a very young age. When they threaten to overwhelm him, he turns to the only one his father has ever allowed: anger. That is, until a gangly, happy-go-lucky boy bursts into his life.
Or, after becoming addicted to Merlin's hugs, Arthur decides to offer him one every time Merlin has a nightmare. For Merlin's sake, of course.

Summary
“The boy has bewitched you, Arthur. Lord only knows for how long,” Uther decreed. Saying so aloud made it true. That was how Camelot worked.
“His name is Merlin!” Arthur roared, his feet spurring him closer to the king without his mind’s consent. “If you are planning on executing him, at least have the guts to speak his name!”
Or: Uther executes a sorcerer and Arthur loses his mind
