Summary
Zuko doesn’t know the first thing about roller derby—apart from the fact that it’s played on roller skates, and that it’s the sort of sport that Azula likes, which means there’s some form of contact allowed. He’s not exactly in the mood to spend his evening off sitting alone in a too-bright arena watching sports, but Azula made it clear that it was important that he come, and their newly-reestablished relationship is too fragile for him to afford to skip it.
He’s prepared to spend the evening confused and alone when he inadvertently befriends Sokka, the older brother of one of Azula’s opponents. Sokka convinces Zuko to tag along to the after party, where he is introduced to Sokka’s sister, Katara, and suddenly Zuko doesn’t think he would mind if every night were derby night.
Or: A Modern AU following Zuko and Azula as they rebuild their relationship after a decade apart, and disaster bisexuals Zuko and Katara learning to ask for help and give people the benefit of the doubt.

Like she needs more of a reminder of that night, of the dizzy slant of his mouth against hers, the shiver of his touch under her shirt, the ceasefire that seemed to fall between them as their hands slowed to a well-advised stop and they tipped into the uncomfortable clarity of post-drunken murmurings.
Like she hasn’t thought about it every minute since it happened.
Like that isn’t half the fucking issue, here.
Zuko's put forward a proposition — something that he thinks might help Katara to, in his words, stop thinking about anything else for a while. Now it's up to her to decide whether or not she trusts him enough to go through with it.
Maybe letting go is easier than she thinks...
