Eddie rolls his eyes and can’t resist bumping into Buck on his way back to the door. “I’ve gotta get more from my truck, but don’t peek at what’s here. Just open two beers and I’ll be right back.”
When he returns, the front door is still cracked and Eddie pushes through it with the rolled rugs balanced on his shoulder, more bags stacked up his arms. Buck is sitting on top of the island now, beer halfway to his mouth when his eyes go wide.
“Yeah, okay, no, I’m probably gonna need an explanation soon,” Buck says. “You know I’m not patient enough for this.”
He doesn’t answer right away, but once everything is piled in the entryway, Eddie straightens, ignores the nervous flip of his stomach, and puts his hands on his hips. “I can want to fix things, too.”
