    Summary

It's freshman move-in day at the University dorms and David is not impressed by the idea of sharing a room... but what choice does he have? He blew a massive fortune during his post-grad trip to Europe, so instead of attending NYU in a swank Manhattan apartment, he is attending a small liberal arts college in Ontario and sharing a room with a complete stranger. But things could be worse, he almost had to live at home. He just hopes his roommate isn't a total troglodyte.

Patrick has saved up since he was old enough for his first paper route, and the day has finally come! The day he can escape the shackles of his small town life and reinvent himself. He can't wait to meet his new roommate, and to start this great adventure he has looked forward to for so long!

Ps. The rating will change to explicit... but not yet.

    Summary

It's hard to miss the double take from the man in a golf polo and shorts as he passes him on the way back to the store. David rolls his eyes and switches Patrick’s tea to his other hand. Normally, David would assume it’s his less-than-bucolic wardrobe that caught the man’s attention. Today, he suspects it has more to do with the way he’s grinning at the blank space in front of him like he’s slightly deranged. God, maybe he is.

Or, a few snippets of (mostly) marital fluff.

“Is that when you knew this was it?” David asks. He’s surprised he’s never asked. Maybe he’s just assumed, because of how sure Patrick seemed from the start, that he knew the answer.

“No,” Patrick says with surprise. “I didn’t know then. I’ve never known. Or at least that’s not how I think of it. I just chose you. I choose you.”

“Unlike most of the people David was typically drawn to, Patrick’s edge wasn’t about high fashion or shitty manners or a twisted game of use or be used. Patrick’s edge was his mouth, the sharpness of his tongue. David would do pretty much anything at this point to see what else that tongue was capable of.“

A story about Patrick Brewer, who owns the last Rose Video franchise in the world, and David Rose, who has been sent to Schitt's Creek by his father to close the store for good. and there are some like us,
just walking, making our feet move ahead of us,
a little bored, a little lost, a little angry,
walking as though we were really going somewhere,
walking as if there was something to see at Adelaide or maybe on King,
something that will give a fair return for this use of shoe-leather,
something that will make us smile with a strange new
happiness, a lost but recovered joy.

Insightful. Multi-dimensional. Most amazing sex scene yet (end of Chapter 4).

    Summary

Patrick hadn’t allowed himself to google David.

He probably should have, before signing up as his business partner. Some due diligence was reasonable. And he wanted to—of course he did, David’s past was nothing if not interesting—but it seemed unfair, somehow. Imbalanced. If David googled him (not that he’d want to, but if he did), he’d find an unused Facebook, a list of business graduates from UBC, and a few articles from his hometown paper about high school baseball games.

The extent to which he could invade David’s privacy online made him feel vaguely guilty, so he left it alone.

Sebastien Raine, on the other hand, he googled less than five minutes after he got back to his sad rented room, and less than two hours after hearing David imply to Stevie that the two had slept together.
