Summary
Listening to the rain as she curled up on the porch swing was usually soothing to Riza. It was something she'd been doing since she was little. She'd picked up the rain-watching habit from her father, but lately, stormy weather seemed to make his aches—and his cough—worse. (Not that he'd ever joined her outside, even when the humid summer rains made the air inside stifling.)
But neither the scant relief of a faint breeze nor the rain itself was helping like she'd hoped. She hadn't entirely expected it to; she'd been unsettled for two weeks now, and a rainstorm couldn't wash that away.
She hated that she was even worrying over this at all. If only we'd never— She stopped the thought short; she knew she didn't mean it. Riza's regrets weighed—were etched, rather—on her back, and that had nothing to do with Roy.

Summary
It had started—as many of Anne's Shakespeare-related woes did—with Romeo and Juliet.
The class had been in the library, writing up short essays, when Gilbert Blythe had passed her a note.
Quick spellcheck, Carrots?
She should have written back. "It's Anne, dumbass", "Learn my name and maybe I might, asshole", or even just "fuck you" would probably have gotten her in less trouble when written down.
Instead, she'd crumpled up the piece of paper, hurled it back at Gilbert full-force, and shouted, "My name isn't Carrots, jackass!"

Summary
Anne blinked. The light in the room was low; the sun was just setting, and neither of them had thought to turn on a lamp. She'd woken because Gilbert was running a hand through her hair. "Hi," she murmured, throwing her leg over his and nuzzling closer for a kiss.
One turned into two, and then a third, drawn out for good measure. One of Gilbert's hands slid from Anne's cheek to her shoulder, then to her waist, then hip, and finally, down to her thigh to pull her closer. Anne pushed herself up with her elbow, unable to help a satisfied smile when Gilbert got the message and rolled so Anne lay mostly on top of him. She pressed her hips down just a little, reveling in the way Gilbert broke away to gasp her name.

"Oh—" Muriel pulled a folded piece of paper from her pocket and handed it to Gilbert. "I found it this morning—it must have stuck to the bottom of my pail when I left the fish the other day. It seems Anne must have visited while you were out." She hadn't read the note. It was clearly for Gilbert's eyes, and she knew it was Anne's writing. Still, she was curious.
"My apologies—the ink is probably smudged," she offered as Gilbert opened it.
Gilbert didn't reply—didn't even move for a moment, save to swallow precisely once very, very hard.
"Gilbert?" Muriel asked quietly. "Are you well? Is something wrong?"
Again, Gilbert said nothing, but turned in the direction of Green Gables and began to run.

"Who's there?" Footsteps sounded behind the tree she was using as refuge.
Of all the ways this day could get worse, Anne hadn't counted on this one, and it was quickly overshadowing every other horrible possibility. She'd stolen onto the Blythe property a few times in the last year to be alone, and now, her sanctuary was no more.
"Don't!" Anne wailed, pulling her jacket up over her head.
"Anne, is that you? Are you alright?"
Anne was fighting tears. Gilbert sounded genuinely concerned. Anne was certain he was, but of all the people to see her in another mess, why did it have to be him?

After dyeing her hair, Anne runs to where she's sure she won't be found. The Blythe property has sat empty for a year, so that seems like the perfect place. Unfortunately for her, it's not empty anymore...

Summary
A Modern AU (call it 2014 in the first fic) with Gilbert and Anne growing as a couple from a quietly wonderful beginning through trials along the way, and through their eventual marriage. Planned to be a trilogy.
Title taken from "Under the Moon" by Smith & Thell because no matter what, these two will find each other and build a relationship despite hardships in every continuity.
