    Summary

Isak stood in the bedroom he shared with his boyfriend and looked in the mirror. He was wearing a grey top and dark jeans that hung down off his skinny frame. He wanted to wear a snapback but he knew Halvor wouldn’t let him and he would be home any minute.

Isak sat down on the bed and watched his reflection do the same. He looked sullen and he knew that would have to change before it got him into trouble.

A key turned loudly in the lock, metal sliding against metal. The door opened and Halvor shouted “Isak, I’ve got the drinks. Let’s go.”

Isak took one final look in the mirror, this time trying to smile, and then walked out of the bedroom.

    Summary

There was never anyone else for Even. He had been with Sonja almost all his life. From the day they met at school when they were 15, until the day she took her final breath against his chest. She was always everything to him. As he was to her. He never doubted that. Not for a minute.
He doesn’t let himself think about Isak. He rarely does. The boy that almost ruined it all. The boy that almost broke them up. He didn’t though. Thank god. That would have been a disaster. And look at him now. Father of four. Successful University lecturer specializing in Norwegian poetry and literature. Widower. Worst father in the history of bad fathers.

He doesn't let himself think of Isak. He doesn't think of Isak at all.

The all grown up AU where Even is lost and Isak is Norway's favourite Midwife. It is what it is.

Title from It's the dream by Norwegian poet Olav V Hauge

It's the dream we carry in secret, that something miraculous will happen. That It must happen, that time will open, that the heart will open, that doors will open, that the rockface will open, that spring will gush.
That the dream will open, that one morning we will glide into some little harbour we didn't know was there.

    Summary

Isak has more issues than he can count. He wants nothing more than to feel, something. Anything to be honest. He craves touch and epiphanies and the ethereal feelings that people describe in books and art. Yet he can't. He can't accept himself because he hates who he is.

So maybe when a boy waltzes into a party one night, he will finally feel.

And maybe this said boy will end up being the most elysian human being Isak has ever met.

I've got issues, but you've got them too. So give them all to me and I'll give mine to you.

Or, the AU in which Isak is not very accepting of himself, at all. He is even more awkward and shy and angsty than in the original, can you believe it?

    Summary

“Male, maybe late 20s, didn’t carry an ID. Was hit by a car. Broken ribs, lots of internal bleeding, his left hand needs some work, a lot of crushed bones. Punctured lung. His heart frequency shows irregularities, but we’re not sure why. Unconscious. The driver called, he’s in surgery, too.”

“Okay, thanks”, Isak said, got his rubber gloves and went into the OR.

He was good at fixing people. And he knew it.

“So,” he says, drawing the word out. “I told Even he could stay here.”

    Isak blinks, convinced he’s misheard.

“Eskild,” he says flatly. “We don’t have a spare room.”

Eskild straightens his back, expression turning sheepish. “That’s the other part…I was thinking he could stay in your room?”
