It hurt, it burned, it jarred your world from its axis – it made your blood feel like it was acid.
‘Acid-’
It had been fine at first. It had been calm ('perhaps a calm before the storm,') and you had not minded the accidental dip of your thumb into the beaker of acid, hadn't even been aware until your friend pointed out your submerged thumb in hydrogen fluoride with raised eyebrows.
It had gone to shit then – a sharp needle pain on the palm had been the foreteller, and then itching, horrible, agonizing pain.
