“K… cch…”, Deku tried again, chest spasming. The hand clinging on tightly to Katsuki’s forearm became lax and rolled to the side uselessly as he grew weaker.
Katsuki’s brain was overcome by a whirlpool of feelings, thoughts, and sensorial input. There were people yelling, people shouting, people trying to touch Deku. He shielded the boy’s body with his own out of pure instinct, trying to think, goddamn it, think. He needed to do something.
Deku was dying.
Deku was fucking dying. Because he ate poison that was aimed at Katsuki.
Alternatively: Someone tries to poison Katsuki. Izuku ends up eating the food instead.

After UA, Bakugou and Midoriya are working at the same agency. They're tasked to plan the agency's annual Christmas party together. Bakugou is still mad at Midoriya for existing, so he decides to summarize their planning meetings and send them to Deku's inbox, which he knows never gets checked.
Having a place to put his feelings is a good thing for Bakugou.

“We were childhood friends. From babies. Then UA happened and, well –” A shadow crossed Deku’s face just as he turned away from Katsuki, and something clenched in his chest.
The notebook, burning in Katsuki’s fist.
“Then we went our separate ways,” Deku said lightly.
After their paths had split, Bakugou & Deku meet again as adults. While Bakugou begins to repent for the kid he used to be, he also starts to prove himself as he the man he is now.

“You’ve gotta be fuckin’ kidding me,” Katsuki said. “You did not just ask me—me—to try and date your loser step-brother.”
He wasn’t even going to say Deku’s name out loud. Wasn’t giving him the time of day, even in a conversation about him. That weird awkward virgin was not worth his precious time, and certainly not what Kirishima was suggesting.
“But Bakugouuu,” Kirishima wailed, hanging off Katsuki’s arm with monster meathead jock strength. “My dad said I can’t date if Deku doesn’t date. Do you understand what that means?”
“Less chance of knocking someone up and creating more of you in the world?”

"Why do people keep quitting?" Izuku asks, though he's sure he already knows the answer given some of the interviews he has seen involving the pro.
"Now please understand that I have known Ground Zero for many years. He is a great hero and has clearly done many great things for this agency. However he . . . is a spoiled brat."
Midoriya Izuku has been stuck in a limbo and is desperate for a job - anything that pays. Even if that job means bending to every whim of a spoiled, temperamental pro hero that isn't used to being challenged by anyone.
Especially not a quirkless alpha.
