|| updated in several-chapter chunks every monday and friday! the entirety of this thing will be out before season two airs. i was gonna wait to finish it before starting to post it but i REALLY want this stupid hunk of writing out before it becomes plot irrelevant. right now it's sitting at a decent amount over 100k words, might get up to 120-140 or so by the time i'm done (about three quarters of the way through, with all of it drafted). this is a bit hasty after today's announcement, so i'll probably be back in here to clean things up. ||

Luz makes a surprised chirping noise in the back of her throat and pauses her scribbling to gently touch the inside of Amity’s elbow. 'Sorry if I startled you,' it says, and then she’s back hurriedly scratching on her own paper, tongue sticking out slightly.
It’s the first of their shared gestures that act as a stand in for absent communication, though neither of them note its significance at the time.
Amity huffs in amusement and angles her notebook so it’s easier for the other girl to read.
