The door opens. Alec tenses, and his body throbs.
A man steps through, and Alec curls his fingers into his palms, terror pulsing through him. Because the man isn't a man. He's a warlock. A demon. The same person he felt crouching over him when he fell.Why is he here? What has the warlock done to him?

Alec has been told the same stories all his life. He's been taught the same lines, over and over again. Downworlders are reckless, impulsive, demonic. They're not to be trusted.
And Magnus Bane is the epitome of everything evil about Downworlders.
At least, that's what people keep telling him. Alec's not quite so sure anymore.
Or: In which the Nephilim have wings, are taught to loathe Downworlders, and Alec is presented with a conundrum when Magnus Bane saves his life.

Summary
A portal opened between two trees, and an oddly dressed man came through. He landed on his back and, like a bug, was trying unsuccessfully to turn over. The portal winked closed immediately after.
The man was the tall sort, had a bow and arrow, a couple of blades, and a satchel. He had rune tattoos, which marked him a Shadowhunter. He was also currently writhing in pain and bleeding all over the place.
What was a Warlock to do with such a man?

Summary
Many people would consider it inappropriate for one of the top Shadowhunters of the New York conclave to have an "interpersonal relationship" (Ragnor's words, not his) with the local High Warlock. Magnus Bane had never been one to care about what was inappropriate in the eyes of others.
The first time he met Isabelle Lightwood, by far the best dressed Downworlder he'd ever seen, Magnus knew they were destined to be friends for life, damn what everyone else though.
Or: a reverse au because there aren't enough of these featuring: Magnus Izzy friendship, warlock Lightwood's, daylighter Jace because why not, Alec really not liking Shadowhunters, and a serious sexuality crisis on Magnus' part

Alec wakes up one morning to find he is in Clary's body. It's a very strange and embarrassing experience, but at least it happens with the people he cares most about. Now Magnus just has to figure out how to switch Alec and Clary back to normal before Clary gives herself a concussion and Alec goes insane. (Wacky hijinks ensue)

Alec grinned. Now that Magnus seemed a little more settled, his cheekiness—apparently a biological trait—was rising up. “Yeah. We’re still figuring out exactly what it was, but. Something brought you to the future. You know how warlocks live forever?” Magnus nodded. “Well, as an adult you live here in the city. And you and I are best friends.”
