    Summary

“You know what’s more important than data analysis meetings and investor lunches and conference calls? Getting to eat breakfast with you in the mornings. I swear to the ends of the earth, the sight of you sipping on orange juice is infinitely more important than whichever old man is trying to kiss up to me to get into my father’s good graces.”

(Renjun learns a thing or two about perspective, and Jeno comes home.)

There are a million reasons to love you, and sometimes I can’t sleep at night because I’m afraid that I’ll wake up and forget them, but then I go to sleep anyway because I have work in the morning but mostly because I know that if I forget, I’ll be able to think up a million more reasons.

    [ 1 ]

“I expected a clean break too,” Jeno confesses quietly, “because everyone expected me to leave and you told me that I should as well. The thing is...the more I prepare for this transfer, the more I realize that I don’t really want to move. I love this city, I’ve missed this country, and I’m not ready to let you go.”

    [ 2 ]

“You know what’s more important than data analysis meetings and investor lunches and conference calls?” Jeno places his empty bowl down on the kitchen island. “Getting to eat breakfast with you in the mornings. I swear to the ends of the earth, the sight of you sipping on orange juice is infinitely more important than whichever old man is trying to kiss up to me to get into my father’s good graces.”

    [ 3 ]

“I want you,” Jeno breathes out, his hand a grounding point on Renjun’s shoulder as his thumb rubs over his pulse, “irrevocably.”

    [ 4 ]

“I think he mostly just wants a permanent home again. You just so happen to be part of that.”

    [ 5 ]

I was so happy about that and so ashamed to tell him the truth that I bought two servings of tteokbokki and acted like one was for you. I couldn’t finish them both. Obviously. I remember how you used to finish yours and even dig into mine. If I close my eyes and focus hard enough, I can almost hear your voice asking me for a bite, just a bite. I’d buy you endless servings of tteokbokki if you just asked.

    [ 6 ]

Renjun’s mind is overflowing with the logistics of it but underneath it all, he just misses Jeno.

    [ 7 ]

You never bother me by being close, Jeno. Just take my hand next time.

    Summary

“It’s not that,” Renjun dismisses, “It’s just that you haven’t left me much time to find a date.” He frowns. “I was supposed to win this break up.”

Jaemin reaches out towards him, placing both hands on Renjun’s shoulders. “It’s not a competition,” he says slowly.

Renjun snorts, throwing off Jaemin’s hands. “Everything is a competition,” he says fiercely. “And if Yukhei is bringing a date, then so am I.”

Renjun needs a date for Jaemin's wedding. Jeno looks a lot like that date.

Jaemin rubs his back. “It's ok. You don’t need a plus one. You’re enough for us.”

    [ 2 ]

“Chenle doesn’t mind that you’re useless in the kitchen. You don’t have to give him food poisoning to show you care.”

    [ 3 ]

“Have you asked him what he wants?”

    “Jeno’s very straight-forward. He’d tell me,”

“Not if he’s not getting anything back. And you’re very hard to read, Jun.”

Jaemin looks at something beyond Renjun and grins. He nudges Renjun, draping himself over his back. Jeno is approaching them, eyes fixed on Renjun. “And you think he’s not giving you signs,” Jaemin snickers. “If Hendery looked at me like that right now, we would not be here for much longer.”

He took time to answer. But even if he pondered on the question for far longer, he knew he would only just come up with the same answer.

    "Yes.”

“Shh, take your time. I'm not going anywhere." Jaemin whispered and kissed him again.”

“Promise?” He asked, and hed a light crinkle on the other side of the door before his mouth filled with peppermint. His eyes widened when he realized what the other had done.

For the longest time, one of Felix and Hyunjin’s largest arguments was over peppermints versus butterscotches. While Hyunjin could tolerate butterscotch, there was something oddly soothing to the cool sting the mints would give him. Felix hated peppermints. He preferred the warmer flavor that the butterscotch had.

But there he was, carefully sucking on the mint and making sure the flavor covered every bit of his mouth that it could. For Hyunjin.

    “I promise,” Felix replied.

    [ 1 ]

Before a full-on brawl could happen right in front of her eyes, Mina lied through her teeth: “It’s fine, I like my pancakes salty.” She forced another chunk into her mouth and swallowed it down. Then she not so subtly reached for the coffee cup again, which somehow made the pancake taste even worse than it already did. Nayeon and Jihyo were both watching her carefully.

“You must really like Nayeon a lot to pretend these were any good,” Jihyo said after a moment, pushing aside her plate of burned pancakes and resigning herself to a breakfast consisting only of coffee.

    [...]

When Mina didn't respond to Jihyo's comment, Nayeon took a bite of her own pancake. "It's okay," she said around a mouthful of food, "I like salty pancakes too.”

    [ 2 ]

“Like, you’re always on the move or something. How can you handle having a part-time job, being a grad student, doing your coffee shop runs, singing at open mics, and even attending parties that you get invited into? If I did all that, my brain would explode.”

Nayeon’s answer was swift, “Because I want to.”
