"Something in Wilde’s persecution has touched a nerve in Sherlock – snapped that tenuous thread of hope holding him upright – and it feels as if he has taken to bleeding internally."

Set in "The Abominable Bride" universe, this piece adopts a familiar format to chronicle Sherlock's quiet suffering in the wake of the 1895 Oscar Wilde trials and the particular way they affect his relationship with (and feelings for) John.

Sherlock hasn’t left the flat in four days, the itch of impatience beneath his skin too great to allow him to suffer interaction with any human being who isn’t John. This is probably a mercy that goes both ways, as he’s driving even himself mad. Sherlock supposes there is a lesson to be learned here about having himself to blame, but of course he blames Mycroft.

Once he has his hands on the thief Flint is willing to do whatever it takes to get the page from him. And then Billy & Gates say marriage is the only solution left on the table.

Or rather matelotage – the time honored pirate form of matrimony. Billy says it’s the only way to regain the crew’s trust, by marrying one of them, and Gates agrees. For once Flint’s desperate enough to agree to it.

He never expects to actually fall in love with the little shit.

    Summary

Sherlock Holmes has never met John Watson, but for some reason he keeps catching just a glimpse of the mystery man around campus … John Watson’s tan, muscular arm resting on an open car window frame, John Watson’s blue eyes peeping through the bookshelves in the library, the top of John Watson’s head with its silky, golden hair. It’s becoming a frustrating puzzle because Sherlock only ever sees parts of John Watson. He never seems to be able to catch a view of the young man in his entirety. Until one day … Sherlock does.
