“I hope we can be friends,” she says and Lena’s throat feels thick at the sound of it. “I care about you, you know.”
Heat spikes in the back of Lena’s eyes. “Friends,” she repeats. “Of course. Why couldn’t we be?”
The answer is obvious. They were never really friends, even when they technically were. Lena has zero idea how Kara plans to manage it now with all their history between them.
A sort of retelling of S2 under the premise that Lena and Kara went to college together and dated.

You asked, therefore you shall receive!
Lena buys Kara a special present, and Kara; the adorkable Kryptonian that she is, completely misinterprets Lena's intentions. (Not that Lena would object.)
Kara turned around, and pinned her with a sheepish smile. “Um… do you happen to have a pen? I forgot to bring one.”
Lena choked on her tongue for a moment; only managing a nod and handing Kara the pen that she was currently using without hesitation.
Kara beamed at her. “Thank you so much, Lena! You’re a life saver.”
Lena's always wanted a dog. Someone to greet her at the end of the day. Someone to love her unconditionally.
"The need to kiss Kara Danvers was a passive one, a consistent one, an unavoidable thing - she had enough boys following her around like lost puppies for that much to be evident (although, now Lena had found herself as one of those lost puppies, so perhaps it was a little hypocritical to be so judgemental)."
Times Lena wants to kiss Kara but chickens out (and the time it finally happens).
