He’s never been one for introspection -- too fucking impatient and impulsive to actually question anything he decides he wants to do -- but Louis’s not stupid enough to think that there isn’t a reason for this.
Two weeks into their second tour, Louis finds Liam’s hotel room in a tip and Liam standing in the middle of his mess, pouting like the giant puppy that he is. He can’t find his blue and white t-shirt, and has Louis seen it? Louis, well Louis for a reason unbeknownst to himself, can’t bring himself to Liam that it’s sitting in the bottom of Louis’s suitcase along with Liam’s favourite jumper from X Factor days and a pair of his socks.
The internet, Louis decides, is a good place to start looking for answers: why do i keep stealing my best friend’s stuff?
Or: Louis has developed a habit of stealing Liam's things and it's become a Problem.

“Well c’mon then,” he insists.
“I – what?”
Louis rolls his eyes as if it’s completely obvious what he’s trying to do. Liam’s learned that Louis has a tendency to jump from point A to point D without any indication of what went on between. Most of the time Liam’s good at puzzling it all out, but right now he’s a bit out of his depth.
“Press-ups, Liam,” Louis says like that makes perfect sense.
The best thing to do with Louis, Liam knows, is just to go along with whatever he says. So Liam shrugs and goes to get into stance beside Louis on the mat.
“No, on top of me,” Louis huffs.
“You want me to do press-ups on top of you?”
Louis nods as best as he can while he’s on his back. “Now you’re getting it. A kiss for every press-up – reward system, like. It’ll make you finish faster.”

in his periphery, he can see the smoke billowing from zayn's lips. he's never liked the smell of cigarette smoke - it always reminded him too much of the old, ratty chair troy had left behind that never stopped smelling like mildew and cigarette ash. but it's become a comforting scent now because it's always lingering on zayn's skin and zayn's clothes. just a bit too sharp, stinging his nose when he breathes it in.
the one where louis smokes because it's a thing and zayn indulges because it's their thing.

Summary
Spock is completing the unexciting work of observing the Kobayashi Maru exams when all of Starfleet Academy is summoned and sent off on a mission of mercy to assist Vulcan, which has sent out a distress signal. It is a respite from the mundane work of observing cadets taking the Kobayashi Maru exam, since it is a no-win scenario and the outcome never changes. However, he is catapulted into the adventure of a lifetime, alongside Captain Pike and the crew of the new Starfleet flagship, the USS Enterprise.
OR
A re-telling of the Star Trek (2009) movie, and an AU in which Kirk is not part of Starfleet, never beat the Kobayashi Maru, never snuck aboard the Enterprise with McCoy, but yet still played a large part in saving Earth and the Federation from Nero.

Mike tilts his head, flirtatious confrontation as the car rolls to a stop. “Bit early in the evening to be discussing my mouth, don’t you think? Sir?”
“Tell you what,” Harvey muses lowly. “You make me look good tonight, I’ll do more than just discuss it. Fair?”
Mike gulps and nods, light-headed, and he doesn’t think it’s from yesterday’s blood loss. He can feel Harvey’s breath on his lips, smell his cologne, subtle and smooth, thinks maybe he’s gonna get luckier than he’d hoped, and then with a smirk Harvey reaches across his body and cracks open the door. “Out,” he commands, and Mike sighs, hauling his tired ass out of the car. Figures.
