    Summary

When Lardo tells Shitty what she wants for her birthday, she prefaces it with, “Okay, before you say anything, I’ve already thought about the implications of this in the context of my identity as a queer Asian woman living in a white heterosexist patriarchy, and I want to do it anyway.”

“Bro,” Shitty says, looking almost tearful. “That is the most beautiful fucking thing I’ve ever heard.”

(Or: Lardo has a bucket list, and Ransom and Holster have her back.)

    Summary

Depending on who you ask, the story starts with Eric Bittle at the EpiKegster. It starts when Kent Parson is born. It starts when Jack Zimmermann overdoses. It starts when Alexei Mashkov flies to America.

(Or, more pretentiously: Kent Parson, 2009-2016: an exploration, or perhaps an explanation.)

    Summary

"Byers does this thing every semester called the Muse Project, where you pick a person or a subject and your final piece for the course has to focus on them. Then at the end of the semester, there’s this coffeehouse where everyone invites their muse and shares their work. So obviously everyone picks whoever they’re dating at the time, and then they break up halfway through the semester and all the writing turns super angsty. Which would be fine, except I don’t write about people, like, ever.”

That’s a lie. He does write about people, but always in an abstract sense, and never more than once—the curve of a hip under his hand or the promise of a kiss on his neck, nothing you could spend a semester on. Before Samwell, and sometimes still, there never seems to be anyone permanent enough to write about.

A minute or so goes by before Dex speaks. “Does it have to be romantic?”

“Uh, no, not really. Just someone that inspires you.”

    “So write about me.”

    Summary

He’s always thinking about Dex, these days; it’s like when he had gotten lost on the trains when he was home one summer, and a man had pointed to a station in the middle of the map and explained, “Everything leads back here.”

He turns and sees Will cupping his hands around his mouth, whooping as one of his compsci mentors does a truly ugly two step across the stage. The sun is shining onto his hair, not through it, and he’s smiling in a way Derek never thought he would allow himself to.

Everything leads back here, Derek thinks. His fingers are tingling from how Dex had filled his arms when they hugged each other goodbye.

    Summary

Jack opens his eyes and lets out a breath he didn’t know he’d been holding. He can feel it now, the hum of the machinery searing through his veins like the wires themselves are alive, the sheer power of the Providence settling in his gut and in his limbs and spreading through his chest in an overwhelming flood.

And he can feel Bitty, a quiet presence that nevertheless burns brightly and steadily. He can feel them, their mutual strength flowing and melting into one. He can feel him.
