From the aftermath of loss and the wreckage of hysteria, comes a delicate balance between grief and devastation. Grief is a natural process that cannot be avoided. Devastation is the excess of grief. Reform is your only option, and it's anything but a simple task. Re-write of Season 4. Elejah, Datherine, eventual Kol/Stefan. Includes entire cast of characters.
This was originally a family-fluff centered piece I wrote three years ago (first thing I ever wrote for Gilmore, actually) but I have decided to add it as a one-shot collection last installment of the series involving 'Under My Skin' & 'The Huntzberger Revival', in that order.
If you're familiar with my fanfiction.net page, you might've already read this first chapter. I've decided to post it here because I'm in the middle of a writing a second.
First chapter: Sixteen-year-old Ava Gilmore-Danes read 'A Brief History of Time' at nine years old, got her first telescope at thirteen and named her coffee maker Copernicus. When her older sister Rory visits out of the blue with a secret agenda, she stumbles upon a very obscure secret that she feels like someone should've told her by now.
(This can be read stand-alone if you prefer to read it that way; there will be references to things in prior installments, but it's very unlikely to be anything too confusing.)

Veronica Lodge muses on the formative ideals and values (or lack thereof) that made up her pre-Riverdale life and everything that changed after. Betty seems to show up a lot.

When Waverly Earp looked up to the sight of a smirking -- and holy shitsticks gorgeous -- officer leaning against the bar's doorhinge, she expected nothing but a wave, smile and a polite dismissal of service because they weren't open.
She didn't expect Nicole.
When she woke to her girlfriend skimming her stomach in deep thought, she expected anything but gentle queries about the nuances in her relationship with her sister.
Even if someone shunted her through a dimension portal, she couldn't imagine a world like this. Where she could touch her sister the way she longed to, touch her girlfriend the way she needed to, and watch them love each other all the same.
So when this world gave it to her, she was wholly unprepared.
That didn't mean she couldn't shake off the cobwebs and capitalize, though. She had a lot of mistakes and wishes and almosts to cash in on, and she wasn't going to waste a breath or a second.
(Established Wy/Nic/Wave OT3; the 1st chapter is 90 % Earpcest, it mostly sets a context. If any incest disturbs you, please understand that we respect your right to feel that. That being said, please respect ours to be able to write what we please.)
Waverly looks like she’s steeling herself to take a bullet. “I hurt Nicole.”
Wynonna’s eyes widened.
“She’ll forgive you, accidents —”
“Wasn’t an accident,” Waverly cut off determinedly, fingertips still shaking.
“What — what was it— ”
“Purposeful. I hurt her on purpose. Nicole, Wynonna. Something’s wrong... really, really wrong.”
Wynonna blanched at her tone — it was rare to hear Waverly this terrified. She expelled a fucking demon from her body and started making jokes and herbal teas disguised as coffee. That was just Waverly. This was...
“Like.. Mikshun wrong?”
“No... this was entirely conscious. At this point, I kind of wish it was still Mikshun."
OR, Waverly is terrified of what she can intrinsically feel herself capable of, and is tired of being told it's something to kill, because it's not something. She remembers what Dolls said -- "The thing inside me isn't a passenger; it's just me."
It's just her. And there's a part of her that doesn't want to kill it. Even a part that would fight for it.
(This is basically a dark, tragically fated love triangle between Waverly, her soul & her identity.)
I think my Elena impression isn't too bad, really.

"If you keep jumping me every time I drink from you, I'm going to get all kinds of wrong ideas," Stefan says. | Set in mid/late S2.
